I think we compare this to AC4 Black Flag because Ubisoft could've made another phenomenal pirate game, but instead choose to dumb everything down just to get the multiplayer to work properly to try to chase them profits with microtransactions. Like remember the huge rogue waves that you had to sail straight into to not take damage, while there was waterspouts around that if you got too close to it would pull your boat in and do damage to you all whilst you're trying to take down a fortress that's firing at you and then dock to go liberate the fort. This is why im worried about Sony. When you take a team that's used to making single player games and throw them onto multiplayer projects, it takes a bunch of time and usually comes out with subpar games in the end.
We compare it to AC4 because you clearly see the AC4 dna in it... and what is worse it does most things worse than AC4 did and in some aspects looks worse... If this game came out like a year after black flag I don't think it would get the hate it gets now... But in no way is this an 80 bucks AAAA game... That being said.. I won this game from your giveaway on the livestream. I had no intention on purchasing this because of all of the bad reviews on it. At best, I was waiting on it to drop on the PS plus for free to play it. That being said, I’ve put almost 20 hours on it and it’s not that bad. I actually enjoy sailing around and looting to upgrade my ship. Just got to the smuggling missions which are really fun, and going through storms with the waves are insane. I actually have a hard time putting the controller down. Just something about it is addicting lol. I think it just takes time to get into it.
I'm about 60 hours in and enjoying it. It opens up after you grind out the initial parts. It's like I tell my friends, worth a premium price? No way. Worth $30? Certainly. What I mean is it's not a bad game but it's certainly not a $100 game. So my recommendation? Definitely get it for the fun Factor but just wait for it to be on sale
All you have to do with the boat is kill a few sharks, get the stuff to build the small ship and build basic cannons. This is a trading game as much as a pirate game, you decide. Find raw materials refine them, get plans build bigger. Buy low, sell high somewhere else, every commodity is tradeable. There's a market and an economy. You could theoretically win this game without attacking a single ship. There are dialog choices, are you building a trader or a pirate. Great game.
sooo.. the reason why you have a level 10 attack you is the endgame for others IE hist.... some player grief new players by hanging out in starter zone to spawn them. Developer know this and are going to make the rouge ship from hist only attack the one smuggling the wine.... THE BAD thing is that they have the turn in point next to the starter zone atm so .... yea

Keep reading this if you are curious about the water and why this review is wrong. To start, there was a bug with rogue ships. They are not meant to be attacking you like that. I am honestly loving the game, once you reach kingpin and start building your empire, it really becomes enjoyable af. I think you made a huge misjudgment dude, theres almost nothing to buy with irl money. You are seeing pieces of eight, not premium currency. All of that comes from the endgame, there's honestly barely anything in the cash shop. The premium currency is the gold squares not the gold circles. The end game revolves around you building an empire and earning pieces of eight. I completely disagree about the water lmao, you didn't visit the east indies or go through any insane storms, you went around a tiny little area it introduces you to initially that is very calm tropics. The storms are IMMENSE here, just as big as black flag. This video has misinformation in it and its upsetting me tbh. You 100% did not spend enough time with the game to pass judgement on it. I get it, it starts very slow, but you are wrong about a lot here.
I have 30h on current progression, haven't bought the game yet, just trial and beta. Idk I am enjoying myself, but it is not worth my money. Only thing is the multiplayer I like, besides that mehh

Skulls and Bones is made for investors, not for gamers. It's a bare minimum of a pirate. It's not even a pirate game. A ship battle game. When you control your character on hubs, it feels disconnected from the world, an afterthought, and it feels like it used to be a menu, but that made it into a hub. Imagine watching Pirates of the Caribbean, but all the footage happens on the ship. The atrocious Pre-orders packs and MTXs' design to milk a sinking ship. Overall, it feels like a chore to play Skulls and Bones. Clearly, the team is very talented, but the direction of the game steered in the wrong way. A massive titanic disaster all over again. Skulls and Bones is made for investors, not for gamers.
With sea of thieves rumored to be going to switch and ps5 this game is dead on arrival. Do yourself a favor and try sea of thieves on gamepass if you're in the need for a pirate style game.

I have seen worst, I even destroy by one shot and I had armor. Everything is just a cover, this game is fake. Law of science and nature to npcs and some other players. Even the boarding is a nightmare. Do mention combat would have increased time because that's not true. Going around collecting the piece of eight or pyrate coins because that a will waste of time
