Very helpful. Brand new to using a router. Working on a windowsill. I plan to use a round over bit for the edges but wanted to round out the corners (I have kids) because like you said they’re sharp. I couldn’t figure out if a rounded corner might be achieved with a round over bit or if I should do this part in the video first and then go over with the round over bit. Just a first time DIY’er mom trying to make stuff look nice. 😊
I would definitely do this first and then the edge detailing. I would not try to round the corner with a roundover bit - it is dicey and doesn’t get you want you need. Once you get the curve it is easier to roundover. In the interest of being helpful, here is a piece I sell that may be helpful. You can make it yourself as well. newmanspecials.etsy.com/listing/1546717305
I ordered the template. Got my straight bit today and tested it out. I did ok freehand but I definitely need a template. Looking forward to trying it out.
awesome video man, truly people that don't understand the importance of the right tool probably should not involve themselves in the craft. Thank you so much for sharing your technique with the world!
Thank you so much for that! I appreciate it so much. It’s good timing too because I recently started selling templates to make corn hole boards, and I thought of making this to sell as well!
@@NewmanSpecialsWoodwork Must've wrote this before bed haha. (on my other account) That is precisely what I was asking, thanks for the reply considering my question was somewhat irrelevant to this video.
You came onto a video about woodworking and furniture building to complain about the price of the tools? And you weren’t even close to the cost of the materials? That’s pretty bad
@@l.j6223 you can use a belt sander to quickly do this as well, but the results aren’t as consistent. The cost of a belt sander is not hugely different than a trim router
You can do this easily with $100 worth of tools... lol. $50 for router. $30 for sander. still have $20 left over for a hand saw, piece of scrap wood and a 6 pack of beer.
Thank you. That is great, makes perfect sense and I will not be able to forget it, lol... 👍
Thanks man!! I’m glad it helps!
Concise and legit. Thanks sir!
Thanks! I like this method a lot - so much so that I started selling the templates afterwards!
Looks smooth!
@@villeneuvewoodworks definitely my preferred method!
Genius! Thank you so much

I like the V detail on your breadboards too, possibly a topic for a future video!
Thanks! I actually did record it! I’ll do a short soon… ish? 😂🙌

Will this work on a resin table?
@@harryrosenberg5201 absolutely - resin is very similar to working with wood in some aspects
How would you do this on a box?
Are you looking to round the corners completely? I would just use a round over bit and go along the edge of the box.

Very easy when you gave $1500 worth of equipment

Is there an alternatives for when you don't have certain tools?
