Im a manager at Guitar Center, we just got one of these in, it was my first time playing it yesterday, definitely a fun set of pickups that were put into it! I've always been a giant fan of Fishman!
Futuristic is definitely the right word. These Prophecy LPs are basically a futurized LP recreated with metal playing in mind. I think that's a great move to bring the LP back into relevancy for genres that have gotten huge in recent decades. Progressive rock and metal
The Prophecy Series actually has a unique to the run voicing for the fishmans. I actually like that voice so much, I bought one just to get those custom fishmans in my Ec-1000T lol
I hit “subscribe” after watching this review. As one of the other commenters said “the happiest man in metal”! Your energy and joy is huge! Keep on bro!
I might just also get this as an upgrade from my first guitar which is an Epiphone Special! Now I'm just watching videos about it and looking at comment wondering whether I should get it.
I've been obsessed with buying one for weeks and finally bought it today. Awaiting delivery and i'll probably just stare at it for a good 48 hours in awe. Hope it'll be everything and more!
I just bought this Olive Tiger minutes ago and your videos sealed the deal for me. This is my first electric guitar as I've been playing acoustic for a few years and I cannot wait to get all up in this beast. The silverburst was initial choice then I saw this. I'm glad I spent a little extra for the Prophecy, I know it will do it all for me! Thanks Ray!
I love it when people are happy with their new guitars! Enjoy! I just bought a 24 fret EC-401 with EMGs and am a happy camper, myself. I would have gone with Epi but the finish isn’t my thing. I want a hard gloss shine. But seriously, enjoy the new axe. If they offer prophecies in gloss, I’m in!
I’m gonna replace my red EC-401QM with that though I’m keeping the black one which came in a box and has way better frets since it wasn’t a floor model.
The red sounds good! I'm not crazy about the olive green. I'm new to guitars, started February of this year with the Epiphone LP special 2. I'm not rich or I'd run out and get a Gibson. With this great economy the politicians keep talking about, I can't even afford a better Epiphone! I'm wondering if better pick ups and tuners would turn my special 2 into a beast or should I save for a total upgrade.
@@brianpartlow5530 exact same here man started out this year with a special 2 I got like 7 years ago and never played properly. Even that thing is chugging way more than I expected but I'd love to get my hands on one of these

One of the best Epiphones are the Prophecies series and the Artist models. I have the Black Prophecy V and the Bjorn Gelotte Bone (In Flames) white LP both are excellent.
Ray’s one of those guitar players on RUclips u can mute and still enjoy although it would be a huge mistake. Awesome chops, great personality, it’s why when u smile I do.
The prophecy series and matt heaphy's signature are the only things from epiphone that grabs my attention that i can think of...why fender/squier doesn't do there own "prophecy series" type line i dont know. If they did that and did it right it would be FIRE!
I almost bought one of those, but it was missing the pickguard and I went with a ‘22 LP Traditional Pro-IV. No regrets either way! Agreed about Epiphone stepping up their game!
Dude you remind myself, i do the guitar reviewer to. Seems spontaneous guy that not cut million frames when speeks have the slowest grow on RUclips. Dude serusly you deserve million subs more. Funny, spontaneus, play great.
@@xanderraymondcharles for sure man, also I live in NJ about an hour away from the Cherry Hill GC. That's too funny that you go there/went there. Small world!
I kinda feel like the push/pull pots would be perfect for the studio. If you wanted to use one instrument for all of your guitar tones, it would definitely make utilizing different guitar tones a lot less of a pain to work with considering you would only have to maintain just one instrument instead of having to maintain multiple instruments for studio use. So in the end both a “Jack of all trades” instrument, and utilizing multiple guitars for certain situations in a studio environment would be excellent methods of recording. Maybe not so much for live situations, but for studio situations it works wonders.
Omg!!! I saw that guitar in the Cherry Hill GC inventory...it’s been there for a few weeks. They had one in Springfield nj but the neck was backbowed so bad it was unplayable. I just never found the time to go to Cherry Hill. That exact guitar could have very easily been mine... Wow... Enjoy it Ray!!!
That was a freaking fantastic review. I've been GAS'ing for a proper Les Paul and was even considering plunking down on the "real thing". But man, exact LP shape with 24 frets, AND jumbo frets, AND premium multi-voiced pups, AND belly carve, AND a truly sick esthetic? Man, nothing in Gibson's lineup is as feature rich (or cool looking, tbh) as this thing. I may have found my next axe. Oh yeah, and subscribed!
Your positivity just makes my day with every video you put out. I agree with you on the knobs, something more classic looking just suits the shape better. I know you're not a fan of weight relief - but when you're old like me, you are thankful for it. Plus a lot of gigging musicians say that doing a full set with a non-chambered LP can be a bit of stress on the back/shoulders. I don't mind the options, as that is the point of the Fishmans over something like EMG's. I was seriously looking at one of these, but ended up choosing the 2021 PRS Zach Myers. This will be the standard tuning guitar, with my 2012 Schecter Hellraiser Extreme Solo-6 being the chug machine.
Hello Ray , as a Les Paul guy gotta say that after 6 months of mental debate & your videos of it ( Watched it 3 times) I bought the same one you have been playing. Stay Ray Metal
i’m building a guitar right now, and the specs are pretty much the same. only thing that’s different is the neck on mine is maple and there’s stripes of purple heart through the mahogany in mine. and there’s no inlays
I wasn't sure about you honestly but you earned my subscribe with that demo, its like... so bright but metal, like if you took fit for an autopsy and yellowcard
It’s kinda funny a lot of your con’s are pro’s for me. I actually like the weight relief, my main guitar for years was a Hagstrom Viking so I’m not huge on heavy guitars. I also love the feel of the knobs and all the sonic options of the push/pull knobs. A ton of options on hand if you want or just set it and forget it. Overall this thing has major specs and sounds killer!! your song at the start of the video had some serious Around the Fur vibes to it and was awesome!!
I agree about xtra jumbo frets Ray. In 2006 i went to a shop for a wine red LP Studio but played an LTD EC400vf. The thinner neck 14" radius and jumbo frets sealed the deal. The better sounding SD JB/59 vs the muddy Gibson 490T&R plus a beautiful vintage burst flame maple veneer top was just a bonus. And the Ltd was half price vs the Studio 600 vs 1200. It is about the fret wire and neck carve Ray you cant adjust those away.
I used to think heavier guitars were more resonant and sounded better but over the years it's the opposite that is true. Lighter guitars can resonate and feedback easier :) plus playing standing up is way easier too ! Take some time with some lighter over bro :) that guitar is so sick, I love that color!!
Weight Relief also make the neck 'dive' if you let go of it! So if you buy one - be sure to get a good quality strap-lock system for it! Aka: Schaller S-locks is the BEST in my humble opinion! 🤘
Currently have an Extura purple tiger on the way! So excited! I've always loved explorer style guitars and this'll be the first I've ever owned. So, so excited!!!!
If you really want just one voicing and like the sound of those pickups, you can install an EMG solderless kit, and use the 3 pin connector with regular pots to have just one voicing.
@@xanderraymondcharles on a side note, thanks for the demo, especially when you were saying it’s actually better than your silverburst, and keeps up with the Gibsons. I’m gonna get the red one of these

Fret size is personal preference. Lots of “shredders” prefer medium jumbo frets. My 80s Kramer had medium (not even “medium jumbo”), and was smooth and shred-tastic. When I tried a guitar with jumbo frets, it felt like speed bumps and my fingers would stumble over them, particularly on descending runs. I guess it’s what you’re used to.

I played one of them at a local guitar shop and it’s the most badass guitar I’ve every played (other than the ESP Stephen Carpenter 7 String) but the neck it’s a million times heavier than the body and the neck dive was fucking insane
Recently I bought one and I have a cuestions: is it normal something of noise in single coil mode? my question is because it was supposed to be "hum free"
I've been playing Prophecys for years. I have one 1st run with the Gibson Dirty fingers pups and ebony board (red) and two 2nd runs with EMGs and pau ferro boards (blue and black). I get asked every few gigs where I found Les Pauls with stock EMGs. And they feel just fantastic. Now I gotta get me one of the Fishman ones. That cutaway where the neck and body join is also sick as hell
Cool video, You mentioned about why someone would like smaller frets instead of jumbo. I play bass and like bigger frets, but John Entwistle liked small frets because it didn't change the intonation as much, maybe pitch. hope that helps.
I also want to add that one thing that I do not like about this guitar is the weight relief. The guitar is heavy on the neck while light on the body. So playing the guitar while standing up with a strap can be very uncomfortable.
The last Epiphone I owned was damaged beyond repair so I cut it up and realized the Rosewood fingerboard had inlay cuts out on the reverse side which was glued to the neck.
