In general, blocking is more important for wool based yarns. You can see why from the results of your experiment. It is very important to block wool based items.

Do you have to block Sox every time you wash them? I've never made any.

I crochet, but have never made socks. Didn't know there was a sock blocker available. May give this a try:) Thanks!

I have akways thought blocking was for natural fiber items. (i.e. wool, silk, and other animal fibers) I have never tried blocking, but I won a knit Crate giveaway from another channel with a wool blend and was given a beautiful shawl pattern. So I guess I will be learning to block.
The first time I made socks I decided to make them using dpns. I think I must have been a little crazy as it was when I first became blind and could not see my face with my nose pressed up against a mirror. I was under going my third eye surgery and thought th ed challenge would keep my mind off my eyes. Boy did it! They cam out beautiful, except for a small hole where I evidently made a yarn over.
I am running out of socks and want to make myself some. What pattern did you use to crochet the pair you made and where can I get it?
Thanks so much for your videos! The gadget testing helps me know what is worth my money.

Hey Heidi. You sure did give yourself a challenging task, lol. I didn't use the pattern for the crochet socks. I know this isn't a term, but I Crochet traced it. I use the blocker as my guy to crochet the sock

@@LittlejohnsYarn Wow that takes talent! I will find a pattern. I feel more confident using a pattern at least the first time.

Hello, I was wondering if you could try a trick that, supposedly, makes yarn projects, sweaters and such, softer. It's called, or I call it, the white vinegar trick. How it's done, keep in mind this could be a waist of time but I saw it on a tiktok, for every gallon of water you add a cup of white vinegar, it might be distilled white vinegar I'm not sure, and let it sit for an hour or so before washing it as you normally would. I have no idea who the tiktoker was that showed it otherwise I'd tell you.

That's a great idea!!! I'm going to test it out & film it.

This was my first time crocheting a sock also. It's the same as a slipper, just thinner yarn.

I block all of my clothes including socks just using water and an iron.

I'm a knitter and I mainly knit socks. Sock blockers are not a necessity. You can buy sock rulers much cheaper and will still allow you to measure while knitting or crocheting. Plus the set you demonstrated is very overpriced.
