Missing my 1993 E36. Possibly the best car I ever owned. Not the fastest, but so well-balanced.

I know what you mean. My '93 325i was "the ultimate driving machine". It was fun to drive and the mauritius blue color was beautiful. I sold it in '98 and I've missed it ever since. The E90 I bought in 2006 was great car but it didn't feel as good as the '93.

So happy to have found such a great car. I'm 40 now and this car rekindled the "car guy" I was in my late teen/early 20's. I'm gettin ready to build a old bmw race engine for when this one finally dies.

Ahhhhh. Back when BMW was more interested and focused on building PURE driving machines, and not concerned with literally creating new car segments, ruining the styling ( Chris Bangle era ) and other major mis-steps like continually lightening the steering ( E46 3 Series) and the infuriating I-Drive controller no one asked for. Don't get me wrong, I drive a 2003 E39 530i which I love, but in my heart of BMW hearts, the E36 is the last "real" and pure 3 Series Bimmer built.

It was 2000' model year 330ci that had the power -steering pump from a e38 7 series-basically I was told by a SALESMAN at the time that a lot if women in USA had complained about heavy steering, so BMW did something for U.S. market ,but by 2002 ,they realised the other complaints about too light steering and reverted back to heavy-ish steering again.

Before reading this, do know that I have an e36 myself
So this review had me giggling all the time, it's so early 90s
"The shifter is .. ....... with short throws" shows the typical massive throw of a 90s BMW :'D
Talking about how superb the handling is, showing it wallowing from side to side :'D
"The 15 inch wheels make room for large brakes..." :'D
"The 60W stereo is .............. and sounds terrific" :'D
I know it was the 90s, but in hindsight, all of this is hilarious

I miss the 90s! And 90s cars! Everything was simpler and more honest back then. The E36 was a straight forward drivers car with no silly gimmics and clean, functional styling. A far cry from what BMW are offering today, and more is the pity! I had this car in red in the 2000s and every drive put a smile on my face.

Mick Kennedy That may be correct way for Europe. In America we say Coupe. We also don't say "bonet", "boot" or "zed". Your way is correct for you. Our way is correct for America. We don't even have that "e' " key on our main keyboard.

The " é " is an 'Alt Gr' character --- "D'Addario" (an Italian-American name) you pronounce 'DeeeAddario' as if it were only a word, it's pronounced 'DADDario' --- ask Jim D'Addario, head of D'Addario guitar and bass strings. :))

    • @joshriver75
      @joshriver75 7 лет назад

Mick Kennedy Neat! Never even knew you could do that. I guess I hadn't needed to before. I don't think it's on my android though.
      You're using a person's name as an example..I think that's different situation.
I was speaking more specifically about "coo-pay". If I were to travel Europe, I would say it "coo-pay".
But this is general word that describes all 2 door, 4 seat cars.
America has cars that originate here under this configuration and we describe or refer to them as "coupe"[koop], and always have.
My point was it is just the way it is and it's not a right or wrong situation "zee" for us "zed" for Europe. Both are correct.

It was and is a great car, but looking back at it and as much as I wanted one back then, you can't deny it suffers from the same thing very many (and mostly premium) 90s cars do: looking a bit vulgar. As if they all were designed with the sole purpose of selling to House artists and producers like Guru Josh...
But I do prefer this one over the next two generations of the 3. It's sex appeal I guess.
