I first thought that losing the passport should not be that bad... then I remembered Brexit happened xD
I lost my passport/had it stolen once before the EU/brexit referendum was even a thing (I.e. way before 2016). It was a major issue even then because the UK didn't have ID cards and the UK was not in Schengen.
So, I had to go to the local British consulate for an emergency passport.
UK was never part of Schengen so it doesn't really change much
@@superstructure23 I never said it ever was a part of Schengen. If anything that fact made my personal situation more annoying.
Unless you were talking to the OP, then sorry xD.
Even when it was an EU member, the UK was always out of the Schengen zone, so even UK citizens always needed to show a passport when leaving and entering the UK to go to the EU. Brexit didn't really make this mishap any worse.
The chance of being checked on the way to Sweden and back would be low, so they couldve just got the passport when back in DK
It’s a shame that Jack losing the passport means we don’t get to watch them all sprint to the one in Sweden.
There is a train straight from Copenhagen Airport to Helsingborg (where the 5 pointer is)...
The fact that the TLDR crew was laid low due to a Brexit requirement. Priceless.
Even when it was an EU member, the UK was always out of the Schengen zone, so even UK citizens always needed to show a passport when leaving and entering the UK to go to the EU. Brexit didn't really make this mishap any worse.
@@cuatez2Brexit is still annoying though!
@@Devon881 not really. The hundreds of thousands of illegal indians, pakistanis, arabs and Africans crossing the channel, costing £7.000.000 a day to the British taxpayers
that's that's annoying
@@cuatez2 While the UK was part of the European Union a simple means of identification such as an ID card or a driving licenses was sufficient. Passports became mandatory as a result of Brexit.
@@Thibli2 This is not accurate. Before Brexit, you needed a valid passport to enter the EU from the UK, because the UK was not part of the Schengen zone. You also needed a passport to enter the UK from the EU. Brexit did not change this.
Small detail, but i love how the border of the video shows the colour of the team you sre watching! It makes it so much easier to follow :D
I GAGGGED when Jack said he left his passport in the taxi what a shock!
me. too. - Jack
@@TLDRnewsEU and now I’m EXTRA Gagged greeting from across the pond.
@@TLDRnewsEU I am guessing you got jet laged 🤣
If you have a cab number receipt, you might be able to track the cab down... I was able to after leaving a device on a cab to an airport before.
I'm really liking the infographics in this series
Looking at the points map, the right strategy seems like a slamdunk winner to me: Take the train to Lille from London (2 hours or so, 2 pointer), then pick up the one in belgium, then go to NL and grab em all (NL is densely populated and has a ton of public transport, this will be very easy), then go to Utrecht and wait around for the final destination, then get there first. This gets you 13 points (5 points for getting to the 10,000th buyer first), AND eliminates everybody's plans to pick up a few one-pointers in NL. That means some other team has to get 11 points and get to the destination second to beat you. The sweden/denmark plan is clearly not possible to make that work. I doubt Ben's team can do that either. It feels like it's "go long distance, pick up 8 to 10 points, then long distance to AMS and take it from there". Which means getting 8 points in NL/Belgium/Lille means you save a longhaul to AMS as you're already there.
A crucial requirement for that to work is that the address in Lille and Antwerp (? - hard to see on the map where precisely that belgian 2-pointer is) is easy to reach. But that french one is clearly in Lille, that's a eurostar stop! (NB: Go to Utrecht as it's got a billion train connections and is centrally located. Better to wait there than wait in AMS).
yeah, i think my strategy would be to run around great britain, maybe stopping in ireland and/or jersey if i found easy transport then just snagging the ones in france and belgium on my way to the finish. going far and coming back doesn't seem worth it, certainly not denmark but milan and munich are slightly better. ben's team should have a fairly easy win, but there's certainly chances for slip ups or not making the finish in time.
@@wfchannel4673 I checked this and as far as flights go Jersey is pretty shit. Maybe something like Edinburgh, Dublin, Paris, Lille which has you at 12 points and can then take everything close by.
@@Ikuu yeah, it was mostly if you can get lucky with timing a ferry or something. it's a skip if you can't, but overall going for the geographically close low point stuff that's on the way still seemed better than overshooting and circling back.
When is the third episode coming?
I swear this is 10x more exciting than jet lag! Passport lost, team asked to stop by police!
I think that, due to him and his planned race route all being in the Schengen Area, Jack shouldn't worry about his passport so much.
He needs to also get back to the UK after though (which is NOT in the Shengen area) 😉
There is a risk of random ID checks at every border, even within Shengen and the Nordic Passport Union.
The border control might not be there every day. But if they are unlucky, and he only brought the passport as ID, they will get caught.
@@DarkHarlequin I know, but embassies and consulats from the UK within the Schengen Area might help out. If he knows that he can get back a passport and/or at least into the UK after the race, he can concentrate on the race.
edit:
P.S. this is effectively useless advise because in real life the race is already complete.
@@ElectariumTunic That's some nice info that sounds true.
edit: .. but also seems to have disappeared.😟
There are passport checks even within the Schengen area. Especially between Germany and the Netherlands.
OMG. This is like the British version of the Amazing Race and somehow feels better than it even without all the challenging activities😂
Race across the world by the bbc is probably a better example I think
Jack, I have found your passport in a Shanghai subway train.
Ngl, I’m enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would have. As an American, I can only imagine how much of a nightmare it’d have been trying to hit up as many locations as possible throughout our country 😂
Well, JetLag tried it, though as they just needed to get to the capitals of the different states, they just ended up flying a lot
@@togamid A proper reason for calling that JetLag, too.
Ben's team were so incredibly lucky here.
Did not think i could be more stressed out than i was watching Ben's team try to make that flight 😰
Until Jack goes "I've lost my passport" 😭😭😭
4:17 "Udgang. I've lost my gang."
This is the Amazing Race season I never knew I needed. It’s so good! Passport loss and all!
you should watch Jet Lag: The Game, just like this
Absolutely love the series! Really fun and stressful. I'm for Ben's team
Jack doing the end card in the London studio is kind of a spoiler.
whenn scarlett said "It's really difficult to spot them all when they're all just white men" she literally turned into the arthoe wojak (if you don't know, google it)
The who?
FYI you just get nonsense googling arthoe wojak.
The TLDR team is very white and very man heavy.
this series is AWESOME. love it.
I do think knowing the two teams are still up in Denmark, Ben’s team might actually snatch the W from beneath you guys.
The delayed start made them choose a different route and it just might pay off.
Either way, I do hope Jack gets his passport back DX
Fantastic series! Im very much enjoying it
this is so amazing, especially because there is no ongoing jetlag season at the moment
An absolutely brilliant series, loving it. Can't wait for the next part
This is so good! Give me the next episode AAAA!
It's on Nebula already... 👀 (go.nebula.tv/tldrnewseu)
The STRESS!! Love this series
I seruiously enjoy this series. Light hearted, exciting and overall awesome. I wish more news outlet did things like this instead of fighting for attention with "Breaking news" all the time. Hope for more content like this next to your usuall good journalism.
Waaaait if you guys already were inside Schengen, did you really need passports to just cross over to Sweden and back? On the bright side, Jack's team is already ahead in deliveries and if they get Jack's passport back quickly enough, they'll have a headstart for the deliveries back on the "continent" compared to Team Zac. Exciting🍿
They have uk passports brexit
@@ciyrainshgaming507 they got their British passports checked already at the Copenhagen airport, there are no border checks inside Schengen (regardless what your passport is) once you're in
@@antons5302maybe you need an identification to board the ferry?
They could have just tried to wing it I guess
love this u guys! i always said there should be more games like jet lag and u guys are perfect for it! i also really like how u incorporated the viewer into the game really fun addition, cant wait for the next episode and dont forget to have fun !! :D :D
I'm so loving this series ❤
This is such a great show
yeah, would be nice if they at some point do it again :D
Bruh I think I saw you guys in Copenhagen airport some time ago...
This is so dramatic, and I'm also more invested than I thought that I would be.
Deeply enjoying JLDR.
The Cute Ghost Order Icon at Helsingor is still the best part of the show 👻
The whole team seems lovely
Very cool video, I'd appreciate if there were subtitles, though. Otherwise, this is really good!
Where's the next episode? Thought it was weekly?
Nice series guys! Can’t believe you didn’t secure your passport in the taxi 👍👍👍
Good job on the content! Keep it up!
Hi guys (and gal!) More of you need to be presenters. I think you have a natural aptitude and attitude.
Would love to be involved in your production anyhow!
This is sooo much fun haha - also, sorry you lost your passport!
Recommend taking the Metro in cph next time, they’re driverless and the front is just a giant window
Have fun, guys!
I can't have enough on this... AND IT'S MONDAY 🔥💙
This is legit a great show
Honestly, he could embark without the passport.
But he wouldn't be able to go back home without it. It's probably worth trying to get it back ASAP vs. Getting a new one at a British embassy.
Oh my days the drama. You couldn't write it better!!
the dramatic end XD
I recently went to Europe, lost wallet! I know that sinking feeling when you screw up bad.
That'd be amazing if you try a CO2 budget next time! Hope they are more deliveries soon
Wooooo very tense
The fact the UK doesn't have national ID cards 💀
Do you really think so? I think its more likely that personal ID or drivers license is no longer enough in the EU
@@FridolinH no, there is no UK ID card, they remived them in 2010...
@@jonC1208 There never have been ID cards in the UK. Passport and driver's licence have always been the only forms of identity in the UK.
I forgot Ben was vegan
Presumably they realize that they got the taxi's info from filming on their phones!
Anyone know when Episode 3's coming out?
For people asking about part 3, they posted a couple days ago that there is delay because of what’s happening in Russia. Check the Community tab
I’m calling that Jack is going to go in a taxi to go to the British embassy and his passport will be their
Zac is so adorable
Is not an ep a week, when is part 3 out?
I have a crush on the Zachary

Within 6 hours!
losing your passport sounds like hell
Conclusion: Europe is lost.👍😔
True
Finally someone else with a dairy allergy!
This race is quite fun to watch. BUT, if I had lost my passport, I would have been racing back to the taxi stand, rather than busily filming. I'm suspicious that episode 3 will show the passport was in another pocket.
“It’s so hard to spot any of them when they’re all just white men” 😂
I would of got 15 points within 24hr flight to Munich rent a car from the airport. Picking up 15 points to the finish line is only about a 10-12hr drive. Lol
As somebody who lost a passport last year this is serious shit. Hope he somehow gets it back but chances are low - I lost mine on a train to Stockholm and ended up spending a month here reapplying for a new temporary *Chinese* one and my American visa to get back to the US. Anyway as British citizens they have immense privilege to travel within Europe with no hassle so yeah.
where is episode 3, i need my fix! lol
It was a very bad decision to remove the Glass-Steagall Act in the late 1990s, which led to the spectacular failure of huge banks during the financial crisis of 2007-2008. To prevent another disaster, Dodd-Frank and this statute both need to be reestablished right away. What happened with SVB is only the beginning of what will happen if nothing is done to address the current situation.
New team names:
Team Jeremy
Team Rory
Team Scarlett
Why did Jack need a passport to get on the ferry from Denmark to Sweden? Both in Schengen.
The uk passport isn't in the eu and when it was it was never in schengen
Also, the longer you wait to try to get the passport the harded it will be to retrieve. My heartsank for him. When I travel abroad I check on my passport constantly. A true fear.
@@ciyrainshgaming507 In general, you don't need ANY kind of passport to cross an internal Schengen border. That is the whole point of Schengen. It doesn't matter if you yourself are from a Schengen member state or not.
If he can phone the cab from the ferry terminal, he can phone from the ferry itself and ask the driver to wait at the ferry terminal on his return.
Why does the thumbnail look like something i should have safesearch on to see?
I bet you never leave your passport anywhere again. It's the sort of mistake you make once! :)
No idea why they didnt fly to Munich and rent a car do all points in Germany and Netherlands in 1 day easy lol.
When next episode?
Wait… What happened to JetLag the game?!?
Nellie Bly would be proud.
So that's it? Why? This video is 7 minutes shorter than the previous one
Couldn't you have entered Sweden even without a passport? I've never had my documents checked when travelling in Europe. Admittedly, I do hold Finnish (EU) citizenship so it might be different for you Brits.
Actually he could, because it belongs to the Schengen area, meaning you only pass through passport control when you enter the first country that belongs to this area, as they had already done. Later they could move freely within all the other countries.
You don't need a passport for all Europe except the UK... So as long as you don't go back...
This takes more than a bit of inspiration from Sam's Jet Leg the game. Should be on a separate channel though.
We get one episode of jet lag per week. Now it feels like we're getting two
Correct, they asked Jet Lag team for tips to help make this!
@@Redddragon Did Jetlag team advise them to lose the passport? Is that why Jack did it, perhaps? :)
@@happybunny1329 Yes.
The graphics for this series are SO cool. My only complaint is I’m not sure about the border around the video to say which team you’re watching. Could this be an emblem in the bottom right? It’s a bit distracting having such bright colours around the content
There should have been extra costs incurred for flying to encourage land based transport options to reduce the carbon impact
8,862th viewer of this video!
For the algo
So confused by almost all of this lol
How do you lose a passport in a race around Europe?
Why didn't the teams back out of going to certain airports to make sure they had a free corridor to certain routes that don't cost both of their teams the whole event? Sure, they can't communicate, but it's pretty obvious where teams are going based on the station they are headed to. (the Munich team is now easily going to win despite being horrible at logistics)
Where is the public transport planning during flights etc? Cabs are a huge waste of time and budget in all of the locations listed
Once in Copenhagen, why bother going to Sweden with points in the bag? Simply turn around, get out of there and hit every spot from Hamburg to Koln and back through the Netherlands and any team trying Sweden now has zero further spots they can hit, right?
Anyway, whatever, cool concept I guess.

Just what I needed from a news channel... A reality show.
Hey, at least it isn't speculative clickbait, I guess...

4th. Also 444 views in the first 11 min. Let's go.
There is no need for the dramatic music, the recap at the start and “next time” at the end. Gives off the feeling that you don’t have enough to show (which is wrong), so you over-dramaticise the bits you do have.
I don't really understand the point of this series. People come to your videos for reporting. The publicity stunts like this just make you seem very ... amateurish.
This is not fun to wacth and vedio too short.
Could this be kept to a separate channel? I subscribe for news & this feels like something channel 5 would make.
It ain’t that deep mate
That's exactly the reason why their first episode of this got only so few views. People are here for news and politics about the EU, not entertainment.
I think they should indeed create another channel, like Tom Scott did with "Tom Scott Plus"
I agree. It's a bit strange to have news and this kind of entertainment content mixed in the same channel.
Honestly it is such a bizarre decision. I don't know why they think their audience want this.
@@richardclegg8027 Probably because this is a one-off. Why make a whole new channel if it's only going to be active for a few weeks?
You guys have too much money 💰. Feed some poor people instead.
This video is very racist.

No, not racist but racy. Or is it racey 🏁?
I get the joke, but I'm afraid a lot of people won't
