Could take this a little lower pretty easily if I wanted to, since my execution of the shortcut was kinda eh, but it's good enough.
Anyway! Another broken level! Enjoy.

Makes you realize how goddamn long that skyscraper section was. They had to move the main base of the city down just so it would look right. The goal ring is under the city in its own city.

Was looking for a way to skip the building run, managed to get to that ledge then figured out I could drift up the wall. After that I thought maybe I could get to the goal ring since it's a pretty damn big drop, so I studied the level layout to figure out where the goal ring was, then launched myself off the building to the right a couple times - knew there was something there because of the searchlights - and found the goal ring. Figured out how to actually get to it with more experimentation.
I guess that's why it's called speed highway

yea, like chaospunishment said it saves a fair amount of time. because for one, you get to the rail faster, and for two, you can go faster while you're actually on the rail.

even if we disregard that I found the glitch myself, that my video was uploaded first and that kakipi got it from me (he even linked to my channel in his video description), that doesn't even make sense because it still wouldn't be cheating.

Very nice speedrun. I like the beginning of this level, cause it reminds me the old sonic games with shortcuts if you can use them without dying (like at 0:19-0:21). Actually it gives us some freedom which modern games lacks of. (sry for bad english)
Sega really remembered their fans existed. They even let the players break the game instead of Sonic Team
I guess this is what happens when speedrunners go glitch-hunting.
Even the best games can have the most game-breaking glitches. It's very amusing, to be quite frank.

@Paraxade0 So, I'm trying this, and more often than not, one of two things happens:
1) The helicopter grabs me as I jump for the rail and takes me out of boost when it puts me on the rail, defeating the purpose of the shortcut and not getting me to the first checkpoint any quicker.
2) The helicopter grabs me as I jump for the rail and carries me offscreen to my death.
The second one is a hell of a lot more perplexing. Did that happen to you at all?
I don't give two fucks what people say about your speedruns - you are a legend and hugely inspirational. The past few days I've been attempting the various bugs I see you do in these videos, and in doing so I've realized the IMMENSE degree of time and repeated practice it takes to master them; people can call it cheating if they want, but your ability to pull those things off so flawlessly is really admirable. Almost envy-worthy.
I'd be happy to be half as good as you some day.

not really. you can drift on just about any wall if you can get the right kind of slope (a lot of examples of this in seaside hill; you can even drift up a couple invisible walls). it doesn't have to be preprogrammed.

It's a bloody speed run. He can play it how ever he wants as long as he finishes the level quickly. If glitches bother you that much than search for glitchless runs instead instead of coming with this "true gamer" bs.

i tried this route and i failed epically. still my best run in this course is 2 minutes and 20 seconds, while in classic is 1 minute and 10 seconds. im better in classic than modern. but it sometimes depends on the course
The funny thing is people bitch about glitches but the runs I do with glitches always get far more comments, views, likes, etc. than my runs without glitches. I mean if you don't like glitches, fine, but some people seem to think their opinion is the only one that matters.

I really wonder how the fuck he finds this shit since you apparently have to nail it exactly right to glitch through. I can imagine him trying every part of the level 'Hmm, no glitch here, lets try a pixel to the left' over and over again until he finds a glitch.

Whenever I try to climb up that building the camera will turn around and I'm not able to get to that building...

That was hell of a strange for the building to have programmable ground for you to drift on for so long. I wonder if they had other intentions for that building

I'll admit. This reminds me with Unleashed a bit on the multi-layered stage ordeal. I actually figured SEGA had gotten better marking null space as insta dead, but I guess they STILL left a few gaps eh? Awesome find, how long did it take you to stumble apart this one? I guess something just said you didn't want to keep watching the same playable event over and over and you just went for breaking it? or random fluke?
