At 13:00, Moira conciously seemed to stop damage after seeing a Sym get slept. This person suffers the fate of low elo supports - they want to be a good teammate and not take the match into their own hands at the expense of their teammates talking shit about them and blaming them. They put themselves in danger to support and try to save their teammates' absolutely TRASH decisions. I know this support feeling too well.
I've noticed a lot of teammates don't realize that. They see damage from Moira, and they're not being doused in heals, they think you're doing nothing. They also completely ignore the fact that you *have* to damage to get back your heals, and will rage so hard at you.
They REALLY need to learn better use of fade too. "Stop using fade to travel 3 feet or to engage" "Actually use it to escape when you can" "Use fade to reposition better- the jump boost is incredibly good for it" The number of useless fades in this replay are incredibly frustrating as was watching them not taking advantage of the jump boost to take high ground AND watching them actually die when it was available to use.
Another tip: Heal lingers for a bit, so you can tap heal full hp allies *before* going into a fight, so they automatically start healing when they take initial chip damage, while your healing recharges a bit. Then proceed with tap healing unless someone is literally being beamed down and will die if you dont full commit to healing them
I play a lot of Moira but the single worst thing is every team mate will abuse you calling you a DPS Moira even if they see you so much as tickle an enemy with secondary fire. It’s literally how she charges her healing!
Just a day after seeing this video I played Moira in a game and we won it due to me being admittedly a bit DPS, but I snuck around and ulted both supports and a Bastion. I got POTG and just got abused by a guy saying I 'stole' their POTG by being a DPS Moira! At my rank (gold/plat) if you are a passive support nothing ever happens. Your team mates will sit at a choke all day, you have to be a bit DPS to get anywhere. Obviously if I get higher in rank that won't work. But at my current rank that's how you win usually.
here's a lil tip for moiras: if you are low on healing juice, you can spam right click on an enemy and it gives you a lot more juice quicker. hold the button when you wanna do damage, tap it for resources.
I can appreciate what you are saying about going for more DPS, but as someone who was reported for throwing because I wasn't doing 100% healing, it is hard at lower ranks to do that without someone on the team thinking that you are the reason they died. It had nothing to do with the fact they charged across the map as a one man army and got rolled by half their team.
I cannot say the amount of times my rein stands in the middle of a big open space instead of near a corner, gets his shield broken, and dies because he is so far from the nearest cover and blames heals for not out healing the damage from six people.
Honestly you simply shouldn't give a single fuck what some low rank team mate thinks is the right play. If they knew what right plays were, they wouldn't be fucking stuck in low ranks. If your team doesn't have good synergy by default, and nobody is clearly stepping up to carry, then you need to ensure your own carry potential is maxed out. If you can't carry, you don't deserve to climb and people need to realize this. Just doing "the right job" isn't carrying. It's accepting status quo, and then at best both teams draw. Your team won't flame you if you're able to kill enemies at an impactful timing, because then they won't receive increased damage thus not need increased healing. If your kill comes too late though, or you end up just trading or don't make it back to your team after you got the kill, then your efforts are wasted.
@@CharterForGaming she's definitely for a good setup for taking her out but a good mercy will stay at max range and you won't get near. At full height of her Q jump, you can't r-click her at all. You have to wait for it to drop off. So timing is everything.
The problem here is the moira is giving the enemy team too much credit. She keeps waiting for the carry on her team, when she needs to be that carry. She needs to wait for her team to be in a position to push and then dive that backline and squishies. Can easily carry at this elo by holding right click. When you play Moira the only utility you bring to the group is damage. If you aren't putting out the damage on the squishies and securing those kills, you'd be better off on literally any other support cause they all do something better
Indeed. In lower ranks, individual plays and carry potential is what matters most. In high ranks individual ability to cooperate and execute team work is what wins games.
This is exactly why I love moira. I tend to be a bit of an ape and run it down so her aggressive playstyle really suits me. It's just kinda rough when you're with a team that absolutely refuses to dive with you lol
Literally everytime I try to get picks, my team says "Moira, you're Healer not DPS" like, fuck! Ive been waiting for genji to get 1 kill for half the match, ill do it myself 😂
As someone that mains Moira I’m taking these tips with a mix of some other high tier player tips. Especially cuz I suffer from similar issues to this Moira
1:30 I agree but there ARE 2 good skins for Moira they are: Blackwatch and Scientist those are the only just inherently decent skins. Banshee, Mask Dancer, and Venus are ok if you wanna get freaky. All default skins are doggie tho.
Moira is a genius level scientist, which in and off itself garners my respect. Furthermore, Moira basically created Reaper. Without Moira's experiments and understanding of biology, Reaper would not exist or be as powerful as he is now, which means that a big portion of Talon's strength actually stems from Moira, making her likely the second most important Talon member, right after Doomfist. Moira is also sassy af. She takes no shit from anyone and goes around telling people they're idiots (because they are compared to her) like she's doctor House. Sure I would hate her in real life, but at least she has a unique personality for a fictional story. Just some of the reasons for why she's not so bad.
I think people just don’t like her character design tbh. If they leaned harder into her half healing and half damaging sides almost like 2 face from Batman she’s probably be more interesting to look at. At the moment her design looks a little conflicting.
She's also the one who's responsible for turning Widow into blue. She might even have took part in brainwashing Sigma too which is the strongest character in Overwatch so far.
The whole point of the moira fade is to put yourself in what would be a bad position for any other character and then get away for free. She's a lot like reaper in that light
Lol Nooooo hurt my feels to hear how Flats talks about Moira. She is the reason I even bought the game in the first place I love everything about her xD
As a Moira main I loved this video because flats may not like anything about Moira but at least he understands how to use her properly and explained her pros and cons for different situations instead of just trashing her for no reason.
Dude finally someone who gets it, I've been getting flak for how I play Moira (not full DPS but I typically out damage atleast one dps lol) and I'm getting yelled at by DPS for healing tank and not them. I'm like "tank is a hundred times more important than you" I also love to target their heals
A piece of advice I’d probably give would be to make more use of the level geometry when throwing out orbs -especially the heal orb. At 2:15 the Moira just threw her orb in a straight line at her Rein, wasting it. If she had bounced it off of the truck to her left, it would’ve bounced to the wall immediately to her right, the wall adjacent to that, and then probably off randomly into the map. But, she would’ve made so much more use out of it than throwing it straight out did. Unless you’re trying to chase down a distant enemy or teammate with one of your orbs, I would recommend never just throwing them out. Always bounce them; not only does it give you more use, but it makes it harder to evade or eat them.
The actual physics of Moira's orbs in relation to map objects is not consistent enough to make going for "trickshots" worth it. You need to have very precise aim to make bounces like that, even a millimeter off can often send it flying in the complete opposite direction. One of the most efficient places to throw it is the direct path your team is taking, towards the fight. If your Rein doesn't hold W and walk with it, that's his fault. Source: Every pro Moira player
ok.. as a 'Nolan' irl, who also played moira quite a bit, I always wondered why Flats would called Wanted 'Nolan', even though it was clearly a troll. I did not know about the real Nolan moira one trick.
I really like this Moira's playstyle. Reminds me of how I sometimes play her in Quick play, especially that strafe she did while being beamed by Zarya. (I actually said "YES" IRL when she successfully got away from her.)

There is such a thing as overhealing. In my mind it makes sense to dps to eliminate them before they eliminate your team. Wipe them faster than they wipe you, heal and dps. Kiss the ouchies of your team and then slap the enemy team for doing that. Dps to keep yourself and everyone else alive, heal to keep yourself and everyone else alive. Always be mindful on when to backup and let the stupid ones go.
when you said "thats a lot of games won for that sr." i looked back at my last seasons bronze games. i won over 40 (pretty sure) and i had only gotten to silver at the end of the season. sobbing
Lol, that lucio not taking the TP. POTG right there, haha. I try to keep well rounded so I can swap on any position if needed, but Moira is usually my first pick when playing support because it's really easy to get value out of her (at least in silver/gold territory). Played well, you can out damage AND out heal the rest of your team, and her ability to delay objective progression can be ridiculous between the orbs and the fade. Great ability to flank. REALLY hurts to see all the chances this Moira blew especially with the improper use of fade.
A cool thing I've learned about Moira is that you can get more value out of her orbs by shooting them at the feet of your teammates/enemies, as it sticks around slightly longer.
hmm someone said shooting them horizontally is better, because it bounces off your team twice and depletes more rather than targeting someone and hitting their feet.
@terror7858 Unless there's a wall in front of you, the orb doesn't go backward. Just test it for yourself, but I can easily get 15k heals on Moira by shooting the health orb near their feet because it hits them on the way down and on the way back up.
Love Moira she has great healing output. I'm in Plat, and when my dps is refusing to do their jobs I bring out the dps Moira, it's so fun to just murder the shit of of their support and dps. You end up getting flamed alot but hey if no one else wants to make play I will
I love playing Moira but no matter what you do your teammates will get toxic and scream at you whenever they die at some point wherever you're doing a bad job or not
The fact that I'll continue to watch you despite your dislike of Moira is a credit to my magnanimous nature and willingness to forgive. You would understand her appeal if you were a WLW trust me.
I have been hardstuck gold for since 2017 and started playing Moira as a DPS RECENTLY and climbed to low masters. The best advice I could give is to not be afraid to 1v1 enemy supports/dps. I know it's not as easy after the dps passive, but once you conquer your fear of dying, you'll start adding much more value to the team fight as a whole. Also, learn to be generous with your damage orb and selfish with your heal orb. Unless the situation is dire, I'd rather use left click to heal a critical teammate. Last piece of orb advice is to learn how to throw your orbs properly. If you bounce them properly to where they stay within you/your ally's range, you'll always get the full use out of them and you can basically damage AND sustain throughout its entire duration. Little things like that allows you to aggressive aand DPS while ALSO making sure your team doesn't die.
It's weird cuz I remember playing Moira and doing what flats is saying in first point attack by throwing damage orb then fading behind and sucking em but then my braindead teammate gets mad and says dps Moira stop and heal bruh moment
Playing Moira is a test in will power because no matter how well you do, you will always get flamed by everyone. I had a game with 35 elims, more healing then the other support and I would still get flamed whenever a team mate died. I have healing orbed a 50hp tank and they flamed me for not using damage orb despite the fact I saved their life. And God forbid you get targeted by a sombra as a Moira because no one will help you purely because your Moira.
It’s bc Moira rarely gets punished playing offense so no one realizes their mistake but use her like an actual healer and you’d be amazed what she’s capable of. I don’t mean full healer but most don’t expect a Moira to watch out for their team
I have a question. In low rank being suport is very difficult because you dont know who to fallow. Everyone runs to different points on the map. Who should i fallow when no one is actually going the right way.
Imo it's best to follow someone who you think could be your winning condition. Notice how your teammates are playing, who's getting kills, survives longer, etc. Try to support them and it might work out :') It can be a Hog, it can be any DPS, etc. Just maybe don't follow the other healer, let them follow another part of ur team :')
Moira has some great skins. Halloween, Blackwatch, Venus. Plus, her character is sarcastic and she sounds like she's either mind-fucking people or just 1000% done with everyone's bullshit. And I mean I hate Doomfist but I can still objectively say he has great skins. But you do you 😏

*YES.*
Finally a spectating bronze video that accurately reflects how it feels to play in low rank
To comment on her skins being bad, the blackwatch skin for her is pretty good in my own opinion
Lucio falling off. Was best part of video.. lol
Tesla is the Top 500 Moira that I learned from - he plays the hyper aggressive, get kills and occasionally heal Moira and it works amazing!
Love Moira she has great healing output. I'm in Plat, and when my dps is refusing to do their jobs I bring out the dps Moira, it's so fun to just murder the shit of of their support and dps. You end up getting flamed alot but hey if no one else wants to make play I will
Moira is the best dps hero in low rank, because you cant miss.
This
I like the part where he said
"You double! You double! You double!"
Nah that has nothing to do with it, he just has bad taste
flats gives me the coach from cool runnings, hard but fair and helps them get better.
7:01 Moira thanks flat’s compliment
Incredibly is actually an adverb and not an adjective
Flats just screaming W repeatedly is me at my team while muted in 90 percent of games lol.
I felt this on a spiritual level. Make so many callouts no one will hear because I never join voice chat lmao
It's weird cuz I remember playing Moira and doing what flats is saying in first point attack by throwing damage orb then fading behind and sucking em but then my braindead teammate gets mad and says dps Moira stop and heal bruh moment
Would love to see the role breakdown that Flats was talking about in video form, sounded very interesting.
flats def a straight man bc as a gay person moira has a great design. mommy fr
I felt this on a personal level
Moira nationality is the best part of her
1:16
which Moira main hurt you bro?? LMAO!!
The Moira banshee skin is pretty cool
It’s bc Moira rarely gets punished playing offense so no one realizes their mistake but use her like an actual healer and you’d be amazed what she’s capable of. I don’t mean full healer but most don’t expect a Moira to watch out for their team
my brain at 14:49: "the farts are there!"
The thing about Ana in bronze...is that they land 1 in 7 shots.

TL;DR on how to get better on Moira: COMMIT!
@@KanityOnePieceChill a lot of support players need to heat this. Follow the per making good decisions and yall can carry.
Venus skin is awesome, what you talking about no good skins 😩
He’s probably my fav content creator of all time, but his takes on skins are consistently pretty fuckin wack
Nah that bih hideous lmao
flats has Odd takes nothing is new

Overwatch professional coaching in a nutshell 7:37
Moira doesn't feel like she fits in this universe's aesthetics in any way/shape/form whatsoever. She absolutely sucks as a character.
My tank dou knows Nolan irl he took a break to focus on school.
D: Moira hate makes me sad.
Fun fact about Nolan Nolan didnt even took the game serios he just was a dps moira That killed everyone and he played on his school laptop btw
Moira has some great skins. Halloween, Blackwatch, Venus. Plus, her character is sarcastic and she sounds like she's either mind-fucking people or just 1000% done with everyone's bullshit. And I mean I hate Doomfist but I can still objectively say he has great skins. But you do you 😏
The eterna song ❤
Being in bronze and having the will to live is rare lmao
The regroup spam is to try and say ult charge😂
