Lots of people wondered why on earth Floor was only discovered by the general public in 2019 in the Netherlands. Well, this is why. It was all a bit too wild for ordinary music listeners in NL.
@@V3ntilator If you see Floor her perfomances in Amsterdam in 2021, you will see that she "Dutchified" her repertoire very well and I would call it "metallish light". She knows the musical culture of the Netherlands. And yes, Scandinavia is different from Western Europe in this respect. I am no exception. I don't really like metal, at least not the wilder songs in metal, although I acknowledge that it is a very hard genre to compose, play and sing. I have passed the time when I called it "hysterical shouting" and "not music".

In some songs of Nightwish he lets her loose a bit, but he knows she has it in her toolbox when a song needs some harsher vocals.

Eventually it was all too much and she took a break of almost 2 years from the music scene, going back in 2012 after being called to replace Anette on Nightwish. From the ReVamp days the only song she still sings nowadays is Sweet Curse. You should check out her recent performance with Henk Port of the song.
Haha, I was wondering how you would react to this performance. I discovered Floor at Beste Zangers too. And Revamp is not my most favourite period of Floors career. But I love hearing and seeing her develop as the great singer she's now. I was shocked when I realised that it was Floor growling in 'Yours is an empty hope', and not Marko. I lover her for the diversity in the way she uses her voice. So many colours, so beautiful. I love her dark colours too. Gives so much depth.
I lost myself from ReVamp is a beautiful soft song and sweet curse is also fantastic. The version with Henk Poort is oke but the album version is better. I like the first album from ReVamp, album two is for me.a little too heavy. I like her first band After Forever a lot. All 5 albums are great. in Nightwish she is also fantastic. I saw 3 of her solo shows and i loved it
You should listen to the song of Nightwish: "Yours is an empty hope", specially the one at Wembley live...the growling is done by Floor not by Marco :-)

Hey Valerie, nice reaction. I watched on RUclips the travelogue from Revamp through USA and Canada in 2014 ( so after “ Wacken”) . So nice to see who Floor loved this trip ,together with Sabaton ( where she met Hannes) and Iced Earth. Iced Earth was the main act, but the fans likes Revamp and Sabaton. And now in 2022…Sabaton and Floor are ‘ hot’ and Iced Earth..singer was involved by Capitol storming …so much problems.
I remember once hearing that after the breakup of Floors first band After forever floor was going through some tough times during her time with Revamp but she didn't elaborate if it was with the band or if it was relationship problems or what? But either way those dark times are over now.
Revamp was Floors band. She had to do everything (management, promotion, extra job et cetera) by herself while starting from scratch. This performance was early in the festival (morning) so not well placed and you can see she has to work hard to pump up the sleepy audience. She did. Floor did a lot of explaining about her burnout in interviews. Very insightfull to hear this wise intelligent woman talking about it. For me the timeline of events, that is the fairy tail. Did you see Floors announcement of her burnout? Impressive, her almost 'dead' eyes, the fire is gone.. But as you said those dark times are over now. Have a good year.

This is angry pissed off Floor. While it was partly a reaction to the breakup of After Forever it was also the end of her relationship with the lead guitarist of After Forever at the same time (nasty breakup). Floor has said she is proud of what ReVamp accomplished but she is a very different person now and it shows in her music now.
I've, always, thought ReVamp was a much better vehicle for her than Nightwish. It's a heavier band and she's an excellent lyricist who writes - very deftly - about incredibly personal issues.
Not only her voice, but her stage presence. The woman gives 110%!
