@@jefferyaeastman He had injured his left vocal cord right before wasp's first album,83 or 84,i think...He was told not to say or make a sound for 6 weeks to heal it
Are y'all tone deaf? His voice is strained and fucked up. But it's understandable cos that vocal style he developed is like swallowing razorblades every night - it's a wonder he still has a voice at all nowadays. So, he gets MAJOR props for still pushing on and trying, but look at these live performances - he lets the guitarist/bassist take a few lines, or he lets the audience sing it, or he just skips the lyric entirely (maybe his voice just craps out - I've had that happen myself - it sucks). In other words, he takes a lot of shortcuts and doesn't always deliver vocally (musically, oh hell yeah - no debate - but his vocals are waning). Doesn't even sing the choruses after the guitar solos on a lot of songs (i.e. Sleeping In The Fire), but that's nothing new - this little shorcut dates back as far as the famous Lyceum show in 1984, if not longer. But, again, after doing this shit for 35-40 years, and getting older, it's remarkable he still HAS any voice to speak of, and he puts forth a valiant effort (even with the shortcuts and vocal strain)... but I am not such an ass-kissing uberfan that I won't call a spade a spade and pretend he sounds "exactly" as he did in the 80s. Come on - NO vocalist does. Some may actually get better, but others will not. So let's cut the bullshit - give Blackie props for still giving it his all even if he sounds like a frog with laryngitis, and stop deluding ourselves that he still sounds "the same and as good as ever".
►"(Lawless) isn’t in best shape anymore he’s a overweight old man now" Yeah, that doesn't help, surely. But it happens to all of them (and all of us, the "normal" people), some more than others, but certainly more with those who indulged in that "fast lifestyle" part of rock & roll (partying, etc). Booze and drugs and all that bullshit will age a person faster than normal. Other frontmen of similar age are still holding on well, like Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford, but even they are battling age to keep that range. I've noticed both of them reigning in those high-ranges and keeping things moderate. I don't hear a lot of the "Air Raid Siren" or glass-shattering Halford anymore (in live performances). At least Dickinson (don't know about Halford) sing their songs, all the lyrics, in their entirety, save for a lyric or two which are probably intended for crowd sing-along, lol. Lawless sadly lets a lot of lyrics slide, going unsung or letting one of the other guys in the band sing it (and they sound strained, too). Oh well. I still enjoy W.A.S.P. and Lawless' music, I buy his albums (unless his "renewed faith" turns the music into Stryper fodder), and I'll forgive the worn and weathered vocals - but I'm not gonna be some cucky-sucky fanboy who pretends these guys are still churning out the power now at 50 and 60 years old "exactly" as they did when they were in their 20s. I'm calling out that bullshit, lol. THIS Blackie don't play that. :-P

I saw this show in Århus, Denmark, October 2017. It was super amazing, and I wished that I could have seen every single show of the tour. I love W.A.S.P. So so much, I really do.
W.A.S.P. is one of my favourite bands from past to present. I want to view their old live performances in the 1980s are re-release on DVD & Blu-ray of good quality.
For a short time in 1998, in Connecticut, Doug Blair ( the lead guitarist ) was my guitar teacher at a place called Ricardo's. He left to rejoin Wasp, I still have a promotional photo he signed at my last lesson. He had a really cool guitar with extra buttons in it that were connected to a voice box, and it would say funny swear words. As a 13 year old I thought that was cool. He showed me the minor harmonic scale which was amazing to me. He was also talking about a guitar he designed that was half acoustic/half electric. I think it was going to be for Ovation, also in Connecticut. He was the man though, and it's cool to see he's still rocking.
Doug Blair is a beast......Best guitarist WASP has ever had. His work on the last 3 albums are amazing. The solo's on Heaven Hung in Black, Miss You and Golgotha are insane
Simon MItchell I have to check those out asap. I wish I could go back and tell my 8th grade self to ask more questions. Nobody was appreciating bands like WASP back then (1998)

Saw these guys back in 1986. A mere shadow of what they used to be. Holmes, one of the guitar players at the time, was an absolute nut job on stage. Very entertaining.

God damn, I know this you find this type of comment in every classic metal band video, but holy shit I wish I could see them in their prime. I've seen Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Dio, Motorhead, Accept, Deep Purple, and a bunch of others live, but it always bothered me that I was seeing them at the tail-end of their career. Even though a lot of these bands still sound absolutely phenomenal live, there's a certain energy that's missing. If not from the performers, then definitely from the crowd. I feel like audiences (at least in the US) just can't be bothered to go wild at a show anymore.
So awesome. It's crazy how good he still sounds and how close to the sound of the albums. I'm so hoping they do another US tour in my neck of the woods.
Blackie is only 63, I'm not ragging on him, just saying that if he were to drop 30-40lbs he'd probably still look like he did back in the day. He surely still has the pipes. Glad he's still out there kicking asses and taking names.
