I've caught so many people spying using this stupid technique and starting a rumor about myself to see who leaks it or who has access to my online records. It works terribly well and it's embarrassing when your talking to someone you know is spying or leaking information.

Mirroring is also another dumb technique where they will act like you or someone close to you and it's easy to make them acting as you or someone else to act out of character by putting them in a unique situation or using an inside joke that they don't understand because it reassures you that they are acting to manipulate you and not because they are a close friend from the past.
