It was my 1st board, had the wide version since I am tall with larger boot size. And it was a great board to learn on, it took me about 1.5 seasons to find the limits with chatter in the carve, but what solid deck at a decent price point. Being tall and over 200 lbs really made me find the limits pretty quick. I can also agree at high speed like over 35mph, it does get a bit sketch….
thanks for your feedback man!
You mind me asking how tall are you?

Just got back from riding shitty rentals in the alps, ordered the ripcord while I was out there, can’t wait to test it out!
You should get yourself on a ride superpig. It is not a park board but it’s so fun on jumps and rails and going edge to edge in between different parks. I think youd love it
Tj stepping back in progression to get some tips out for the newbies. Lets go
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Would love to see you review the Ride Shadowban! It’s getting a lot of hype this season.
The Ripcord was my first board. Moved on to the Evil Twin after seeing your reviews. Loving it.
love to hear that man, stoked you're liking the Evil Twin!
Great review! Thanks for showing what this board can do! I have a 2019 one, same profile. I am an older rider in my sixties so doing blue and red runs. I find it easy to turn and it’s helped build my confidence. I am trying switch now and set the bindings a bit further forward from the reference which seems to help a bit.
Best reviewer in the game! Thanks TJ
thank you homie!
Good stuff as always Man. Your riding is so smooth. Seeing the boards being ridden along with your knowledge provides a very good idea of the personality of each board. How is instigator vs rip chord. I am trying to get a burton rocker board for sone mellow butters.
Done my first two seasons on this board in NZ, great board, and noticeably better compared to the rentals if you are thinking of getting your first!
good feedback!
i can't wait to give it a try next Saturday! nice review!
Hope you enjoy it!
TJ, it would be great to have a vid on the ultimate quiver. What boards do you need (or you have/ride) to cover pow, all mountain, park and jib. What is your go to, or is there a board that can really do it all? Cheers
thats a great idea. I'm a believer in at least a 2 board quiver, but it depends on a lot of factors
Great review TJ, keep up the amazing work
thanks swanny!
Thanks for your video TJ, very helpful informations! What size of board would you recommend me if I’m 5 foot 6 and 141 pounds weight, thanks . Keep up the good work 👍
One of my buddies rides this board and has for years… it holds up well
stoked to hear that
TJ, have you ridden the Burton Instigator pure-pop snowboard? I’ve been on it for the last two seasons and I’m digging it as a novice in the game.
Bataleon should give you some kick back money as you have unknowingly helped them sell many boards (3) to me this year alone.
Next year, you should offer affiliate links.
Hey TJ can you do a review of Yonex snowboards? I know they make high quality tennis rackets because they run their own factory and keep the quality control high so was curious to see how their boards ride.
seems to be the new go to rental board at my local hill. saw a bunch last weekend.
that's good! Better than a lot of rental options out there
would be awesome to try this board
sociooo
Can I ask you to make the DC PLy review? This board is on market like forever and there is no high quality review on YT.
Another great review!
Also, if I could magically absorb one rider’s style, it would be TJ’s.
Thanks so much man
I have a 24 year old Burton Bullet which I haven’t used since I last snowboarded 16 years. I know I’m going to have to teach myself all over again. Would it be worthwhile getting this Ripcord, or would it be much like my Bullet?
Hi, i'm about to buy the Ripcord as my first board. Can you tell me if the 154 would be the right size? I am 5'9 height, 155lbs. Thank you!
How would you say the ripcord compares to the K2 Raygun (flat) for a beginner? I've heard the K2 isn't as strong in carving but will let you progress farther over time
Yo when we getting that Ultra review?
soon, any questions about it I can answer for you now?
@@BoardArchive sweet! I see you riding them a lot more in your vids over the atlas. How would you compare the two and if you prefer one over the other? Would love to see a Union shootout like you did in the past with the falcon/strata/atlas.
Why you not test the ride shadowban?
Planning to buy my 2nd board with all mountain; can it cover Pow?
I’m 5’9 165, what size would you recommend?
Please review womens snowboards as well
Starting in snowboard and getting ready to purchase my 1st kit.
Apart from the boots and bindings, having a hard time figuring my 1st board.
I did find pretty quickly the limits of the rental I use that the shop supplied (Head Transit in a size 159 for a 200lbs Size 12 boots) - I know, wrong size and width.
What would be a good beginner / intermediate board for mostly Mountain / powder (70% mountain - 30% powder) ?
Like to go in the woods and hit some diamonds, but the Transit I have now is scary unstable at speed and when carving.
Thinking of a Directional Camber or a Directional Flying V, but obviously open to suggestions !
i ride a rossignol jibsaw 162w and its solid for carving and pretty much anywhere on the mountain its just too stiff for my liking in the park
I would definitely be looking for wide boards, something over 260mm waist width for that size boot, even closer to 265mm would be better. Salomon Sight and Bataleon Whatever could both be good options that come in wide versions
I recently picked up snowboarding, just had my third day on the mountain and am starting to feel pretty comfortable, but getting tired of playing guess and check with rental gear every time, considering investing in my own board to learn on. My body type is quite a bit different though, I'm a bit of a fat man currently, about your height but 240 lbs. Would this board still work for me or should I look into something else, in your opinion? (I am actively working on the weight issue, and have shed 10 pounds from 250 since picking up snowboarding, but it's not a fast process)
At 6'4", 210 lbs. and not quite a complete beginner, I went for a Burton Instigator PurePop Camber in the 160W size that I got a good deal on. I think that board might stretch a bit further as I (or you) progress.
@@avlehtine appreciate the reply! I ended up getting a 155 yes basic, on a 40% off end of season sale. I've also dropped another 5 pounds since that post to 235, hoping to be into the 190 range for the 155 length by next season start
Copper Mountain 😊
Been riding with this board a while now and my basic riding and turns are pretty good. Next I would like to start learning some switch riding and small jumps. So is this board good for start learning switch riding or should I get twintip board?
I think you'll be just fine practicing switch and learning to hit your first jumps with this snowboard
i had a ripcord as my 1st board, have you tested the instigator as a similar alternative?
Only the ripcord at the moment, but the flat top instigator is verrryyy similar except its core and few tech specs. A bit of a tighter sidecut and no easy bevel
We want the free thinker's review!
It's coming this week!
how are those union ultras compared to the stratas?
I like them even more. The dampening on them is so good. I think they're a great all-around choice if you're a more freestyle focused rider
@Board Archive thanks love my strata but the lightness and spring I get out of my contact pros are amazing! Hoping the ultra will be as responsive as the strata but have the lightness and spring of the contact pro. Just bought a pair on sale.
You and whitelines. For whatever reason, I have stuck to your reviews and they have been exactly what my friends and I have felt.
