Can cars with paint protection film be involved in preservation class? If a car has extremely highly mileage but still looks great and is very original does the very high mileage count for more.?
Concours judge here. The whole point of preservation class is that the entires are unrestored and unmodified. Moreover, protective film was developed in the 1980s and didn’t become widely commercialized until the ‘90s. So no. Maybe in 30 years a car would be considered if the film was applied brand new on delivery and the car was otherwise untouched, but that’s still a hard sell.
In Preparation Street, do they still mark down for tiny rock chips in the glass? The only time I entered this class was when my car was nearly new and I was marked down for that. It would keep me from ever trying it again because I would have to replace the windshield to have any chance of receiving an award.
Went to one of these....just the oddest focus on dust ever. I'd never survive it as I just like to drive my car too much....and it gets dirty. And not everyone has the time to put into keeping a car so clean. I think cars are better with marks and such....
Excited to participate in our first Concours event tomorrow with the Sierra Nevada PCA region.
Have fun!
Great video . !
As a note remember that local regions have many concours class levels … there is one for you.
