Serenity playing in the village saving room while heavy thunderstorm falls in the background is a magnificent yet terrifying prelude of whats about to come.
Awesome fact: Serenity is actually a song composed of parts you can hear in a song from Devil May Cry 1's OST. It can be heard in the Old Castle stage's theme, I noticed I could hear Serenity much louder and clearer when the theme plays in the room where Dante first meets Nelo Angelo. Funny enough, that room is also a save room/Merchant-esque room, as it has a Divinity Statue in there. Goes to show how much DNA DMC1 and RE4 shares as a result of their development cycles.

This song does give off a "you're safe" vibe, but also, it's oppressive, like you're safe, but you're aren't free. I can picture this being the feeling you have when you come home after a stressful day, sit on the bed and start crying.

This theme is burned into my mind as back in 05 i was 9 and there just wasn't constant access to the computer and even if you could look up guides/tips you'd have to really dig and interact with the forums. So when you hit brick walls or can't figure out a puzzle, you'd just have this looping for hours and it was comforting when you failed to discover anything new because at least in this moment, you are safe.
We didn't even have access to forum guides etc....we would try to solve it on our own.. We would be sitting around all watching our elders play it.. The feeling it gave is Timeless
This is like my favorite save room in the game too. I just love how the light beam hits the typewriter upon entering that building. The whole room is a vibe.
A forever memory of mine. This was me and my moms favorite game, and I always remember going back to the save room to listen to serenity on a rainy day.
The song was like “It’s ok. You’re safe now.” which made me cried listening to it when I was suffering from depression 2 yrs ago. Because maybe just for a moment, I was safe…. from my own thoughts. Respect for the OG Resident evil 4
This game takes me back to when I would watch my dad play on the Game cube. My parents would fight all the time and this song would bring me comfort and peace. After playing through the remake once woth the new soundtrack. I legit only ever play with the original OST. This piece I dare say may be superior to the OG save room OST in Resident evil 1.
If you want to know something funny, when I got ahold of the RE2 remake with all DLC, the first thing I did was use the soundtrack swap. It felt only natural I combine 1998 with 2019 like a red and green herb. Never needed a blue herb once. Scary fucking game I may say especially when you start clicking.

Resident Evil 4 was my honest first horror game I ever played and finished. I was so scared to play any other game, but this one was the one that broke that mold because I loved the action part of it. But at the same time, this game was downright terrifying to me at times, and finally visiting a safe room and hearing this music was like a cleansing moment. Sometimes it was so comforting that I didn't want to even leave. I knew the dangers that awaited me outside of the room.

But serenity takes me back to when i was so stupid and so innocently dumb, makes me glad i overcame some dark paths of life. Okay, thats done now. To me videogames have always been the place where I could go whenever life gets hard. The problem is i was only a 11yo that knew nothing about life. I grew up running from pain and self isolated myself to the point where I completely lost my ability to interact with people. Lost so many good friends along the way... Just because of my selfish and cowardly behavior. So many memories I didn't make. My past is empty.
Nothing will ever beat hearing there play on the PS2 on a late Thursday night rushing to save because i had school the next day... ugh memories. Thank you alex for being the best next door neighbor and introducing me to a life long love of resident evil starting with this masterpiece on the game cube
Serenity... it's a perfect title, but to me it's a melancholic serenity, I can't explain how this melody touches my heart, it's peaceful and it hurts at the same time
I played resident 4 remake the day it came out and I adored more than I should've. Thinking about the original that I never grew up with but always knew about it as a child, I finally after like 6 months i finally played the original. Despite never olaying it and only seeing a few short videos, i completely understood why people adored this game passionately. It didn't take much. Only understanding how the limitations of the game was pushed fully and imaging the feeling of immersion people in that time era. It was magical to say the least. Serenity is inplanted with me forever.
Every single time I listen to this, I feel the music take me back to me and my cousin playing on ps2 for the first time, and the others times too, It was just a bed, a small TV and too many memories.
This reminds me of that day when I was a sailor walking down the streets of Connecticut and heard church bells ringing in the distance. Then I had dinner at a seafood restaurant. It was very soothing.
This theme is the embodiment of your feelings with OG RE4, the turmoil and horror all turned into nostalgia and comfort as you wish those days were still around, the game never changed but everything else has and that’s why this track brings such “Serenity”
My first play through ever while listening to this gave the feeling of “don’t worry you’re safe now but theirs no knowing what’s ahead” but this far down the road it feels like a nostalgic rest stop along the many a times trekked journey ❤
I never played re 4 nor 2 but I have always listen to this music. I remember when Re2 remake came out when I was in high school and I would listen to hunk theme everyday.
I was born in 2004, never played the original RE4 until after I played the remake. It still brings nostalgia when I hear this song, about all the memories of my childhood and all the games I've played. Truly an amazing song.
I can't explain the memories I had while playing this game, no internet back then so me and my brother would sometimes actually brain storm ideas to how to defeat a certain boss in the game and how to manage out inventory. Those were the good times my man, when night felt actually dark.
I kept a save file in this specific room when your are coming back from the church with Ashley. You can hear the thunder and rain in the distance while the safe room music plays over it. I found it to be relaxing and almost healing in a sense. Used to just sit in my room and listen to it when I felt like I needed peace.
One of the most peaceful sounds in my life. The feeling of getting to a save room in RE4 is unlike any other. "You are safe here. Nothing can harm you. Relax for now..." What a masterful OST.
Nothing can beat listening to serenity for the first time when getting to a save point. It still to this day touches my heart everytime I listen to this. This elicits a certain feeling deep within that no other soundtrack can trigger. Truly a masterpiece that the remake player will never know of. I know it's kinda boring to listening to us re4 2006 players abt how we feel about the game but trust me the experience is magnificent.
The first time I completed RE4 was at my grandmother's house on a Wii borrowed from a friend. I have a very clear memory of listening to Serenity in the living room of the house. For reasons of force majeure I cannot return to that house but whenever I listen to Serenity it teleports me to that place, to that moment, to those vacations when I was a child and had no worries. For me Serenity is much more than a save room song. It is something that takes me to a safe place where I can rest and feel that everything has a solution. Serenity is a song that will be with me all my life.
Such a nerve calmer when you see a typewriter with the merchant next to it after being chased by ganados, zealots, regenerators, etc. and this piece starts playing.
Used to play RE4 on an old CRT TV back in the day, and I never heard this theme music in such detail before, man I want to go back to those awesome days! :')
i was 4 when my dad first introduced me to the resident evil series. all these saferoom hosts are the only thing that remains warm in my hearth. so nostalgic yet so sad thinking about when i was so little and fragile haha! :)
Yes the blue flame, the merchant, the chaos. As a kid hearing this I was mesmerized when I heard it. When I hear it again as an adult im that little boy again
Sometimes I’ll hear this in a meme or video and it shoots me right back to when I first played this game. When beating it was the most important thing to me, and how this game made me feel alive. I want that feeling back.
Honestly dude, the Resi save room themes, literally all of them take me to this place in my mind that's unique to this franchise. It's like a specific corner of my brain is designed for resi, some more than others but all of the save room themes have this ability to make you feel safe and comfortable but in the back of your mind you know this comfort is only temporary, thanks for posting this
The best video game I have ever played in my life is Resident Evil. It made a lot of memories. It is a childhood game and I still continue to play it... Many thanks to the creative developer and the godfather Shinji Mikami who created this immortal masterpiece.✨🌹💛
I love this song too because it really feels like a cozy European style autumn atmosphere where you know there is an adventure waiting to happen as we try to uncover the truth.
@@OmegaVideoGameGod I'm not a fan of the horror genre myself, but they have that Interesting charm in them, like the atmosphere and all that...especially regards those years (90s/2000s as i said)
It sounds heavy, muffled and evokes the feeling something is off, yet I still love it. It just feels in a way calming and soothing. Like the piece is telling you that things might not be great but that's okay, take your time. Also, the lighting from the window and ambience in the save room is incredible. I hope games in the future don't fall for trying to make the most 'realistic lighting', but make the lighting and environment speak to the player emotionally.
I love the title! It's hard to believe that my video of serenity blew up... haha This song got me through some hard times. I ALWAYS LISTEN TO THIS everyday.
i played this game in my childhood when i had summer holidays. as many people say, time flies and FFWD i am turning 27 soon. somedays i get the soundtrack stuck in my head, escpacially this one and the save theme. if you heard this in game, you knew that you were save for now. God i love this game. Sitting up all night playing it with my sister has to be some of my favorite memories.❤
Me , Leon , and the Mission.. Those we're some good times huh? old friend..
Man, I love the Re4 soundtrack :)
The memories comes flooding back
My first play through ever while listening to this gave the feeling of “don’t worry you’re safe now but theirs no knowing what’s ahead” but this far down the road it feels like a nostalgic rest stop along the many a times trekked journey ❤
I never played re 4 nor 2 but I have always listen to this music. I remember when Re2 remake came out when I was in high school and I would listen to hunk theme everyday.
One day, please give them a try... first the OG's then Remakes.
@@Mahavegan i agree, please start playing resident evil, preferably the 4th
@@justanegsfan ❤️
Ver cool, dude
You got homework to do mane.
When this song plays, it starts raining. A soothing, comforting rain.
Those middle school days I couldn’t wait to get out of school and play this on my GameCube and listen to this beautiful music. It takes me back.
One of the most peaceful sounds in my life. The feeling of getting to a save room in RE4 is unlike any other. "You are safe here. Nothing can harm you. Relax for now..." What a masterful OST.
Definitely on my top 5 save room themes it's just so relaxing knowing that no matter what you're safe in that one spot .so nostalgic
Resident evil 4 changed my life ❤
serenity really hits different
Nothing can beat listening to serenity for the first time when getting to a save point. It still to this day touches my heart everytime I listen to this. This elicits a certain feeling deep within that no other soundtrack can trigger. Truly a masterpiece that the remake player will never know of. I know it's kinda boring to listening to us re4 2006 players abt how we feel about the game but trust me the experience is magnificent.
Just makes me wanna cry:( miss those days man
All the save room themes are just epic re2 theme is crazy nostalgic this one here is as well
I shall keep this, as a cherished memory of mine
Thank u for this video... U just brought me back to my childhood
This is wat we grew up with so nostalgic
It has a special place in my ❤️ heart
Oh man that music from RE4 ....let you know your in a place of peace.
Got a selection of good things on sale stranger! 💜
Ahhh, I’ll buy it at a high price!
It's like a specific corner of my brain is designed for resi, some more than others but all of the save room themes have this ability to make you feel safe and comfortable but in the back of your mind you know this comfort is only temporary, thanks for posting this
You really nailed it with the title.
The ambience of my youth. Oh how I’ve missed it. 💙
First played Re4 when i was 6 Years old (2012) and I was so scared but at the same Time i fell in Love with the Game
I was born in 1991. My nostalgic music is the save room in Resident Evil 2 and Code Veronica X.
Woow, just hearing it is so unbelievably satisfying
Everything about Resident Evil 4 was perfect
Except the fact you can't shoot while moving
Hehehe what are ya sellin?
“My Memories associated with RE4”
Stranga, that’s priceless and i can’t buy that at a high price.
Your comment sounds like one of those 90s/2000s movies plots like "Rose Red" (a movie from 2002)
I’m very impressed you brought that up.
@@OmegaVideoGameGod I'm impressed as well that you know the movie
Agreed, I loved Stephen King’s books.
@@OmegaVideoGameGod I'm not a fan of the horror genre myself, but they have that Interesting charm in them, like the atmosphere and all that...especially regards those years (90s/2000s as i said)
Things like these is what makes the OG so iconic. It's where the Remake lacks
As much as I loved the RE4 remake, something about classic RE4 has a nice charm to it.
I love the title! It's hard to believe that my video of serenity blew up... haha This song got me through some hard times. I ALWAYS LISTEN TO THIS everyday.
Played RE4 on PS2 in 2008. Never got far in the game. The monks at the castle totally freaked me out with their latin whispering.
Not gonna forget this 😢
Alright, uhh. I'm feeling nostalgic, time to play the original RE 4 again 😂
Nostalgia hits hard 🥲
i played this game in my childhood when i had summer holidays. as many people say, time flies and FFWD i am turning 27 soon. somedays i get the soundtrack stuck in my head, escpacially this one and the save theme. if you heard this in game, you knew that you were save for now. "the quiet before the storm" fits this perfectly
You are safe here, for now.
This theme was really something else. It was calming but also had strange synth and almost reversed sounding instruments, which created an uncanny feeling, like you're safe but also not safe.
