Thank you for the comment. Unfortunately I started my videos with the quilting of this one so there are no videos of how it was made but I have a lot of other videos on making subsequesnt quilts that I hope you will enjoy. Thanks. Julie
what a beautiful quilt i have been enjoying your channel as im new to EPP and have started a hexagon so i really have found your videos very helpful and now to finish it this was awsom thank you for sharing
Great video....thanks for sharing...your hexie quilt looks amazing....great job on the handwork....amazing....thanks for sharing....I'm going to post this on my Facebook page to show all my quilt friends your work....love the EPP work....keep it coming
I am using 1 inch on the front and borders wit 1/2 for flowers in bloom and buds and 1/2 flowers. The stems and leaves may be 1/4 inch if I can find them. The back of the quilt is a scrappy friendship with fabric from friends and family. Some scraps from her passed grandma.
If you could do the bird with 1/4 inch hexagons it would be much more detailed but like you, finding templates for that size is very difficult and / or expensive. Lay it out with half inch hexagons and see if it will fit in your border before actually sewing anything.
Hi Dee. I will do a PDF of the underwater quilt once it is finished. Thank you for the long comment the other day. I went to reply and was unable to find the original message as the reply button didn't go to it so sorry I didn't reply but I was going to email you to say that but you have sent a comment here so all good. I have only been doing hexagons for about 6 years.
I think I gave you the wrong email address. Please set up a wishlist on Amazon with my book in it and I will pay for it. The shipping will be cheaper if you order it. Just search on Dorothy Huffman and my Hexies & More Journal will come up. SisterQuilters@yahoo.com is my email. I think I wrote gmail. I am on disability so I understand how it is to have crafts you love but you are restricted by a budget.
Hi Debbie....I don't have a pattern for this quilt but if you look closely at the videos I have of preparing to bind it you will be able to get the general idea of it. It is just diamonds with other shapes around the edges and then 4 rows all around of mixed colours. Thanks
Did you quilt it yourself on a domestic sewing machine please. If so how did you do it. I have a very large one to do, I have left to one side as I got stuck with it really , then lost heart, ready to pick it up,and carry on again. Like your quilt,
Hi Karen. I hand quilted this quilt as I do with all my quilts. I have some videos on how I do this and they can be found in relation to this specific quilt as well as in my series of lessone on quilting which show all the processes on a small item. I would not think of quilting on a normal cheap sewing machine as I know it is not up to the task and I figure that if I take the time to sew all the hexagons together than I want to continue the hand sewn theme to the quilting as well. If you have any more questions please feel free to email me about them. Thanks. Julie
@@juliethornton thank you for your advice I appreciate that, I will go through your videos again , I do watch things you have done. Everything always looks so nice, your very clever Julie.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I use Milliner's No11 needles (they bend but you get used to it) and Bottom Line thread by Superior Threads....it is super fine and doesn't tangle. It does fray as it is just 2 threads together but it isn't an issue.
Hi Vickie and thank you for the comment. No, I don't put my name on the quilts as I only make them for myself so no need. If I were to make them for others then I would probably make a cross-stitch thing with my name and date and attach it to the back of the quilt. I know you can buy ready made ones that you just add your details but I would rather make it more personalised if I did them.
You make it so stress less. And watching you who needs a sewing machine. Just love watching you do this. Thank you.
Thank you Denise.....that is why I rarely use my sewing machine.
That is the most beautiful quilt I have ever seen. Just breath taking.fabulous.
Thasnk you very much for the compliment...it is appreciated.
You have made an exceptional quilt. Bravo!
Thank you very much Maria.

Love your colors. I am sewing a hexagon king quilt for my daughter by hand.
Thank you. What size hexagons are you using? Good luck with it.

I love your work! I found the video by Donna Poster on joining the binding helpful and I usually follow that when I do mine.
Thank you fir the comment and thanks for watching
A real work of art ✂️🧵🪡🌹
Thank you very much.
Thanks for all the good information.
You are welcome. I am glad it is of some help to you.
Beautiful quilt! As always you do such amazing work! 💙
Thank you Kera. I greatly aoppreciate the compliment.
That quilt is spectacular. You have to start making pdf’s of your patterns to sell.

How do you make an home made binding?
I will be putting one on a miniature quilt in tomorrow's video and will explain it all then.
Hi there could you please tell me what needle you use for the hexes and what thread you use. Many thanks I enjoyed your tutorial.

did you hand quilt your hexagon quilt?
Hi. Yes I did hand quilt it and there is a video on how I do that. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
Do you put your name on your creations?
