My only major concern is that the original creators of ATLA abandoned this project due to "creative differences", meaning THEY saw something they didn't like about the way Netflix was approaching something. I suppose time will tell whether or not this winds up being something major or not.

i heard that during the production of atla there was one person who played a big role in keeping creative flow from going overboard (?), but he was not present during the production of korra and that's why it end up being questionable. two creators work without him now so maybe they lack something and that's why they decided to leave the project. i admire their creativity and ideas but even their dragon prince is received weirdly like do they know how to tame their creativity tho?
and in the end like maybe live action will not be their creation but it doesn't mean it will be bad
idk if what i say it true but it does make sense for me in some way
edit: by "one person" i ment a writer(maybe producer?), didn't meen to diminish their position to "just some person who does something idk what". keep in mind that what i said was just some opinion of a person i knew so take it as an discussion starter 😭

It may be that their story does not work in live action, because it was made for animation. So Netflix has to do major changes, at that point it is no wonder they would leave.

    • @BostonChattanooga
      @BostonChattanooga Год назад +325

Minor Creative differences might of been the “public reason” they gave at the time but in reality the two creators left the Netflix project because Paramount offered them THEIR OWN PRODUCTION STUDIO, which was announced two months after they officially left the Netflix project. Deals like that take months and they probably had left the Netflix adaptation weeks before it went public.

It's just the fan base hyping it up like this guy in this video and getting mad if they (a) basically do the same thing but live action because it's pointless or (b) not doing the same thing because it doesn't match up exactly and they get upset it's too different. Polish version was more faithful to the original but Jesus if this aged and looks ugly for today standard.
ATLA have potential in the way - it's based on very well known, documented and practiced martial arts. Most of fights don't require physical contacts, rest is CGI. Cast is Asian and it fits since the whole show is based on Asian cultures. And on top of that they have entire story presented to them. Netflix know by this time how much people hate those story remixes to seeing this series again, now "remastered" in real life. Hope they just won't cut the story for lolz.

that's a big flop of the 2010 film, though the actors did also play a role. The writing was bad, the cinematography was bad, who knows what the hell Shyamalan was up to, the casting directors cast the whitest people they could for an Asian based film (oh and fun fact, Shyamalan originally wanted JESSE MCCARTNEY as Sokka XD). The acting is definitely varied. most everyone is as expressive as a falling brick wall, we only get like 1 scene of Zuko having any angry energy, and its for literally no reason.

If Netflix make their own version/interpretation of it then it's no longer ATLA by removing the parts we enjoyed about it.
What's the point in remaking a series if they're gonna remove and change the very same things that made people love the original series in the first place.

This did give me more hope. I'm actually excited to see this. I just hope it's done well. If this flops, even if it's not related to Paramount's Avatar Studios, the entire world of avatar will go into hibernation once again. It's also incredible that both Avatar's disappeared for a decade, and both showed back up within the same year. Sucks for both of them, but they both can be incredible. I truly hope Netflix does this show justice. I've been rocky and pessimistic but I just don't want to be let down again. If Netflix can do justice to Avatar, not only would it catapult Avatar into being a full world just like GoT and Harry Potter like the actor for Kyoshi said, it'll take Netflix back out of the negative viewpoint the public has as well. This project has so much riding on it and the effects of good or bad will be felt for many years after this. This officially gave me hope. Please don't let us down, Netflix

I believe all we really need for a good live action adaptation is creators that don't hate the source material and that for some reason is so hard to come by. With all the changes most of them do, it is usually more like they are trying to tell a unique story and just using the name to gain viewership for a story they know wouldn't work otherwise. It is also a must that nobody in the production team should ever talk bad about fans that have consers, otherwise it will make people go into it already hating it.

Dallas Liu is another great cast , he definetly can handle the physical part, but the emotional part given his short acting experience could be a problem , will be weird seeing him with the "bald pony tail" haircut tho

Alot of people wont watch "cartoons" that can be benefited by what I consider to be a great piece of writing, the animation itself isn't what I ever hear being praised even tho it is solid, and it is to my taste, the original isn't in the visually astonishing category compared to a lot of animation or some live action out there, when I watched the show as a kid I always used my imagination to visualize their great concepts, I always felt like the show deserved more. Screw it, something is better then nothing we still have the original if it all goes south

@@adamtuckertattoo Eh, I agree with some parts of the original not being visually astonishing (given the budget, and the fact it's old) but I would still say some parts are some massive reaches for animation. Recently re-watched it and especially the action scenes hold up.
At the end of the day, I still think there are some achievements that animation can reach that live-action cannot. I hope this goes well. I've been watching AOT since 2006, when I was 6, so there's a lot of love there on my part and I don't want to see it ruined in any capacity (like it already was).

I am soooo excited for this. I just pray so much that they do right by the show but by the looks of it because they've done their research and everything like that I think that they are going to do amazing and I just am anticipating it, it can't come soon enough ❤️

You very much did change my mind. The first movie's budget was $150mil, and it turned out to be a big flop but that's because the studio didn't care about it and clearly weren't true fans of the original series. A small concern would be the fact that Rings of Power's budget was $60mil per episode, $500mil for the entire season, and that turned into a big flop as well as backlash from the fans because they disgraced the original, even with the directors, writers, etc, being fans of the original lore. I knew how qualified the casting is based on your previous videos presenting their physical talents, but you showed their abilities much more on this video, not to mention comparing the martial art techniques parallel to the show and actual martial art masters. One of the biggest, most cringe flaws about the original movie was the choreography and obvious lack of experience from the cast in basic gymnastics, bending was not an extension of their body at all. Just from that one clip of Sokka's actor as well, he very much gives "Sokka" vibes.
I'm excited to see this version of Avatar. The fact that the original creators left because of "creative differences" scares me a bit because they might screw up the vision of what Avatar is truly supposed to be, but then there's some very good fanmade adaptations like Genji. The 2020 delay also must've been a blessing in disguise; they had 3 more years to refine the story. There's no doubt that the graphics are going to be insane, but I think they're actually putting more of the money into proper casting, writing, and directing now rather than mainly graphics!
