5:45 Uhg, yes. It starts with me having a natural inclination towards being interested in something and then turns into me trying to make it the best thing ever and totally burning myself out in all of the wrong ways. The core idea and passion was the real source I needed for the idea, not the perfection of the idea. That can come with time if you want but really early on I think its about putting ideas down and finishing your ideas enough to present it. You hit diminishing returns so fast on that sort of thing because the raw idea is what really makes something work.
I'm watching this vid like 3rd or 4th time, since the first one probably a year back, and there's always something new to it, something I didn't have the ability to see earlier. I just don't know any words that would describe how grateful I feel to you, Ahmed.
You're awesome! I've never met you and yet I feel like you get me so well. when I was an little kid, I didn't have that much friends growing up because I didn't like to socialize since I was too busy just drawing whatevers in my head. While everyone else was playing and going to the movies, I was in my room just drawing and it wasn't sad at all. it was the most productive period of my life. I mean my family and teachers thought I was some daydreaming introverted weirdo but whatever. When I went through high school I just learned how to socialize better and the more time I gave to my friends, the weaker my work ethic became. its almost like when artgerm (Stanley Lou) said that young people say they want to get better but end up spending more time with their friends than practicing drawing. I guess I got tired of people calling me weird, slightly mentally ill and constantly asking if I'm lonely or not. its so comforting to hear that most artist are introverted because that's how they improve. its just people outside of that spectrum wouldn't get it.. I need to get back into that solitude and get back the work ethic I had when I was little. so thanks so much for your videos. it feels like listening to an old friend and yet we've never met. keep up the good content
I just wanna say, your one of the most amazing art teachers I've come across on RUclips! Thank you so very much for such amazing tutorials! 🖖🏽huge fan of your work!
That could be it. :/ I've never seen that type of elongation before personally.- just the thigh I mean- I've seen the normal tall and fit elves before though. Idk could be whatever he wants it to be :P
I wanted to let you know that watching your videos have been very inspiring and I appreciate all the work you put into them. Keep the wonderful work. I'm learning so much. xoxo
Hi Ahmed! I've just recently subbed to you and I have to say that you've been such a great help. I've been through terribly rough challenges and art blocks recently and am just getting back to my feet. I make it a habit to at least watch or listen to a video of yours every night before bed. Your videos really serve as a sort of class to me and being self taught, you're possibly the only art class I've had - so I really really appreciate your help and these videos you put up to help other young aspiring artists out there.
Thanks for your helpful advice! Your approach in art is different from others that I really enjoy! What site is good to get professional feedback? Thanks again.
Can you tell me the name of the podcast that you mentioned ? All podcasts i know are really sugary and hyper positive, i dont think I know a single one with a negative approach to concept art.
i finally found it again :0 i love concept artist insight especially when it comes to maintaining efficiency in the face of failure @ 2:43 it definitely resonates with me that i never sought out to complete what i started, so i end up fixating on ctrl + z'ing and undo-ing without ever getting to see how good a painting can get. that same mindset definitely holds me back from releasing finished products lol
Posted on Facebook, very inspirational video. You are helping me a lot with my digital art, and also my confidence lol. Constantly feeling not good enough (as a lot of artists do)
Hi Ahmed! Big fan of your tutorials. I was wondering which screen capture software you because your video quality is really nice and I was interested in starting some tutorials also.
Hey, I've been learning a lot from your videos and I think you're a great teacher, do you think you could give some tips/advice on a future video about how you come up with designs for the outfits you make? I really strugle with adding interesting details and elements to my character's clothing. Thank you!
hey Ahmed, great video! the only issue i see in this painting its that the orange leg feels a bit too big compared to the other leg, the one we have in front, specially on the foot, but anyways great work hope you keep the videos coming
Hey Ahmed. Love your videos. Ive learned so much from them. One thing that has me confused, if you or anyone else knows? How do you flip to a mirror image of your drawing?
Ive tried looking into that and to be honest im completely lost on trying to create shortcuts. It seems like this specific feature doesn't have a built in shortcut, so you would need to create one. Im just not sure how to go about doing that.
My issue is that I don't understand the process. Or what to learn. I'm not really sure where to start. Proportions? Line art? I've been basically copying photos which turn out poorly. On a scale of 1 to 100 of new to pro, I'm like 3. I can't call it a hobby yet, but it's definitely something I'd like to learn.
The problem I have in order to apply that 100 drawings rule you mentioned at the beginning is: My main Job leaves with so little free time that by the time I completed those 100 drawings someone would have done 300... I often find myself begging God to give me more talent so I can improve faster.
Hi Ahmed Aldoori. Your videos are very helpful. Your views are fresh, different, the way you explain things are unique. .Thanks for sharing. And also please don't stop making videos, at the moment you only have 2,780 subscribers compared to other artist with millions, But we really appreciate your help. God Willing you will succeed. Now 2,781 Because I have subscribed :D
+Jody Thompson I can't recommend any as of now, I will have to try other programs out first. So far photoshop seems to be the best for me and a lot of other professionals as well :x
I don't see why people aren't talking about Photoshop Elements. It has all the main tools and features you need to make art at a fraction of the cost of the full version of Photoshop. Maybe people just aren't aware of it?
it really isnt, If you draw the same thing 5 times and just keep in mind the mistakes that you've made, you'll see improvement in the 6th drawing. After 100 drawing of the same thing, If youve been learning from your mistakes, then the right way to draw it should be ingrained in your memory. Now imagine drawing the same thing 100 times a day for 2 weeks and its impossible that you won't improve.
I know this is a few weeks old, but I've learned that it really isn't about the pure amount of time you put into it. I'd really really advice you to put your heart into every peace you make and not necessarily think of it as a learning process. That way you'll see your current level more clearly, and also see what you can't really understand or render well enough at that moment. After you're done with the piece you can tackle those things you found you lack on. This has worked for me anyways, but I do genuinely think that has some objective merit to it. Then again, one of the most valuable things that has helped my learning process immensely is the fact that I've taken a lot of stuff with grain of salt and going for what I feel like is right, instead of following everything I hear blindly. I wish a lot of energy and success for you! :)
Maybe just not finished, an error simply always occured when drawing. Also he said, sometimes we need to draw poorly and learning from it, I think that's what he mean

Love these videos man, so much good advice, you really are pushing a whole generation of artists to improve

I'm almost the same
Then you have got no talent for drawing, if you even can't find time for other things.
I just wanna say, your one of the most amazing art teachers I've come across on RUclips! Thank you so very much for such amazing tutorials! 🖖🏽huge fan of your work!
Your thoughts on the lifestyle and industry of being an artist are so valuable.
I liked this video, but I have one thing to say about the picture itself. Her thigh, ho mah god it's so long.
+Charlie Woodle She looks elfish; elves have elongated figures.
That could be it. :/ I've never seen that type of elongation before personally.- just the thigh I mean- I've seen the normal tall and fit elves before though. Idk could be whatever he wants it to be :P
this man make me wanna paint again n again
Love from Bangladesh

very inspiring for people going through difficult stages of learning, this video is quite valuable. good content

Amazing channel! Keep it up please!

لسبب ما قد شعرت بسكينة بصدري من خوف ضيق من الرسم و يا احمد من الان انت معلمي
you're an inspiration! love your art and videos. thanks for the encouragement :D
Awesome podcast :) I really enjoy hearing your opinion on various art topics, fun to listen to while I practice.
Thanks for another great video
Hi Ahmed! Big fan of your tutorials. I was wondering which screen capture software you because your video quality is really nice and I was interested in starting some tutorials also.
This video is still helpful. Thanks for making these Ahmed! uwu

really enjoy these casual like talking vids : >
You have a great channel man, keep it going! :)

Wonderful piece and great vid.
This helps a lot! Thank you very much for this.
Really nice video, I like our mentality about "aim for the stars".
sometimes i can draw so much for like 3 months and then i get art block for SOOO long :/
Hey Ahmed. Love your videos. Ive learned so much from them. One thing that has me confused, if you or anyone else knows? How do you flip to a mirror image of your drawing?
Thanks:) That comes in handy. I got a new tablet with a rotate option too.
+Ahmed Aldoori +Ashley Walker You can also create shortcut in photoshop to allow you do it in one keypress, which can be helpful to save time. :)
Ive tried looking into that and to be honest im completely lost on trying to create shortcuts. It seems like this specific feature doesn't have a built in shortcut, so you would need to create one. Im just not sure how to go about doing that.
Ashley Walker This might be of help. :)

cool. thank:)
I feel like I´m beating a dead horse by saying this, BUT... your podcast is great, awesome companion to draw with.
My issue is that I don't understand the process. Or what to learn. I'm not really sure where to start. Proportions? Line art? I've been basically copying photos which turn out poorly. great stuff man.

Hi Ahmed. Are you using Cintiq?
+milo cooper hello, no I am using a Wacom intuos pro medium tablet
+Ahmed Aldoori Thank You for the answer.
Your voce is deeper now!!
16:32 "you know..you know" really means i need money you know
Thank you :)
Any programs you would recommend that are not photoshop?
+Jody Thompson I can't recommend any as of now, I will have to try other programs out first. So far photoshop seems to be the best for me and a lot of other professionals as well :x
What about Krita?
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try it
I don't see why people aren't talking about Photoshop Elements. It has all the main tools and features you need to make art at a fraction of the cost of the full version of Photoshop. Maybe people just aren't aware of it?
Well Krita is free and it keeps updating. It's very similar to PS.
is this from imagination?
Interesting... u use one layer only
I can't work alone because im freakin 14 and I have like 2-3 hours to draw, and everyone is staring and me, and it makes me super tensionate :CC
Guarantee he's talking about one of shaddy's podcasts
Shaddy said that? Where
1:54 most likely the first 1000 drawings :P
the 100 drawings thing is quite optimistic lol
it really isnt, If you draw the same thing 5 times and just keep in mind the mistakes that you've made, you'll see improvement in the 6th drawing. After 100 drawing of the same thing, If youve been learning from your mistakes, then the right way to draw it should be ingrained in your memory.

good advice man ill have it in mind thanks i guess my mistake is just doing different poses over and over again without really paying attention to it
I know this is a few weeks old, but I've learned that it really isn't about the pure amount of time you put into it. Maybe its a bit too late, people said the thigh is too long. But idk, i like it lol.
I feel like the thighs are too long. idk if it's ur style or not, but normally the thighs r the same length as the torso...
I thought the same..................
Maybe just not finished, an error simply always occured when drawing. Also he said, sometimes we need to draw poorly and learning from it, I think that's what he mean
i liked that aspect of the design
"so of you really wanna get good at something , do it alone." *closes video and continues photo study*
