That's crazy. As someone who owned an 800XL a long time ago (and is getting another one soon), I'm happy to see what this thing can actually do. I've seen so many c64 demos, but it's fun to see something that runs on a system I actually owned...
brown, yellow, gray, light brown, dark yellow, red bricks, cream, tobaco, green, white - 10 colors grouped by vertical blocks. although you can use up to 5 colors per line and 24 lines - in total, you can get 120 colors on one screen for a resolution of 160 * 192. And if you use dithering techniques, you can create the illusion of more colors. The most difficult thing is to choose such a picture so that the borders between vertical blocks remain invisible.

imho, 5 color mode on line, accurate picture and DLI - 8 scanlines per 5 colors.
