I hope you enjoyed this short and concise video giving you 5 ways to improve your photography on the Sony ZV-1 - these techniques will work across most cameras. Try some of these and let me know what you think! The photos in this video were edited using my Pastel Preset for Lightroom, which you can get here: www.jackwoodhams.com/product/pastel-contrast-lightroom-cc-preset/
The ZV1 is an awesome little camera. I feel it was just marketed wrong as a vlog camera. It should have been thought of as a mini beginner hybrid camera with its photo capabilities. Can even dabble in a little astrophotography with it to an extent
I feel the same way. I recently bought it as a pocketable alternative to my a6600. Every video I saw prior to buying it was about vlogging, so I am glad to see more photo focused content about this camera.
Thank you for making this! It’s been so hard to find videos on this camera geared toward photography & your work is excellent! I’m excited to purchase mine!😇
Hey Jack, thanks for the great advice! Which picture profile do you use when shooting photos? I find that the default one gives me colors that are a bit too saturated, and it looks unnatural to me. I use S-Log2 when shooting videos. Would you recommend the same for photos?
Just shoot in RAW and then the colours aren't baked in. Then use Lightroom or any software to edit. I used my pastel preset: jackwoodhams.com/product/pastel-contrast-lightroom-cc-preset/
I actually sold it to help fund the A7IV. But lots of these videos apply to ZV1 ownership as well. For example this video could apply to any camera and not just the ZV-1
Nice pictures and video, thanks! I can't decide between an RX100 V and ZV1 for a pocket camera, mostly for stills. I'm used to a Canon 6D ergonomics but want something better than the smartphone in the pocket. Do you find the lack of EVF and built in flash a big deal here? Screen usable outdoors in bright conditions? I think this might be better than tilt screen for low angle shoot and vloging for sure but apart from that, not sure.. I'll be shooting mostly during hikings with it Manual mode isn't a pain with the lack of dials on this one?
I don't currently own the zv1 but I can say that. 1. Never had an issue with no EVF. The screen is good enough in most situations but in very bright daylight will struggle. 2. Manual mode is fine, there is a dial on the back and you can change iso, shutter speed and aperture with that. 👍
@@basharhere2726 ZV1, no regrets for stills photography. The screen is enough in sunlight and the articulating screen more useful than I thought. Quick access custom menus also helps for the ergonomics and the lack of dial wheels.
Question: what editing app - software do you use to edit your RAW photos? Found a few ones but they only supper the Sony ZV-10 and don't know if it would work the same for the ZV-1
@@JackWoodhams Yeah but Sony has the ARW extension and depending on the sony camera the editing software could support it or not. I think lightroom supports all camera models. Thanks!
Manual - avoid shutters below 1/100. Iso below 800. Aperture wide open. My photos are edited with my pastel contrast preset. www.jackwoodhams.com/product/pastel-contrast-lightroom-cc-preset/

I wish there was more content for stills photography on this camera. It really does seem like a versatile little camera.

For photography what would you recommended - Sony ZV1 or Sony RX VII?

Awesome video, would love to see more content on photos with the ZV-1
Hi - unfortunately I actually sold the ZV-1 to fund my A7IV. But lots of photo tips videos coming and tbh all rules apply to most cameras. :)

Can you make a video on how you can set up scenes in this camera to be more like the Fujifilm recipes ?
thanks ...I hope you make more vids with the zv-1

Great video Jack!
Thank you Mark!
Any recommendations for minimum shutter speed? Thanks
I'd personally avoid going below 1/150 if shooting street photography
Thanks. I’ll try these!
Great, let me know how you get on!
Nice pictures and video, thanks!

Thanks for your video ! , how do we use preset to original photos
There is documentation on the preset that explains how to install on lightroom 👏
Canon g7x mark iii or sony zv1 which one is better for photography
Sorry I've not tried the canon
Where do you edit your outputs?
What, outputs?
Those pictures are straight out the camera or did you edit them?
Edited with my pastel preset: www.jackwoodhams.com/product/pastel-contrast-lightroom-cc-preset/
show your bag please in the video! what is the brand of your bag?
It's this 👉 amzn.to/3NNiamy
The sensor size is only 1 inch, must be not so good in lowlight.
Well we know that.. 😂
Thank you! I’m a beginner.
