I don't usually like chambered mufflers but I think the original 40 series would have given this car an amazing sound.
if he went with thrush fully welded it would of been just as good

I think he had open manifolds not headers. The car wasn’t excessively loud before when it drove in. If it had open headers you would have been able to tell. This is a super cool car! I normally don’t like the Thrush mufflers, but they sound pretty good on this engine. I love that everyone is trolling Ryan on this video lol!!! Good stuff
You can see in video, it's clear as day, No Headers, pipes going right up to Stock Exhaust Manifolds. Sounded like a Stock Low Compression 302, 2 Barrel Engine, where someone put an Aftermarket Dual Plane Intake Manifold and a 600 Holley. Sounded Very Lazy to me. Probably a Late 70,s Low Compression Smog Engine. Sounds Exactly how it should tho.
Should get the Kindig electric exhaust manifold . And please tub them rear wheel wells . Think You Got a Winner Huh …. lol

First I would like to say nice job on the exhaust I really like how you got the tailpipe exactly the same. Every time I've had a custom dual exhaust done one is always a little higher than the other. So great job there. The whole exhaust really look good little stuff like that really drive me crazy though.
It sounds pretty good but it's missing something. I know this might be going a little overboard but it really needs a cam maybe some headers and possibly chambered mufflers
Sounds exactly like a Stock Low Compression Late 70,s Smog Engine, With a Dual Exhaust System. Probably just a Stock 2 Barrel 302 Engine, where someone put Aftermarket Intake Manifold, and a little 600 Holley. For what it is, Sounds Correct. I agree with you, Definitely Needs More of Everything inside that Little 302.
@@badass6.0powerstroke10 I've been Googling this car for the past half hour and I am officially giving up for now. It turns out it's very hard to find good information on this car because the new truck keeps coming up. And I can't find any magazine articles with full technical breakdown so I have to rely on people on forums and you know how that goes, lol. So according to what I found horsepower numbers are either a 140 or 210. Wikipedia says 210, but I have seen other articles say 140. Then the people on The Forum were saying there was a change in how they measured horsepower in the early seventies. So that could be the reason that it came out as 210 but it was actually 140? The Wizards On The Forum say it had 9 to 1 compression, which is actually good. It was a very slow car V8s were called Maverick Grabber, 16 to 17 1/4 mile.
Were this my car, At the very minimum I put the nastiest sounding cam I can get. Or I would just take the motor out and put a roller cam 5.0 in it. Either do a all motor 347 setup with 400 horse crank at least ( not hard, my 347 dynoed 512chp on 93 fuel ). Or just get a 5.0 sbf roller cam out of the junkyard and throw boost at it, with a anderson cam or similar. Good for at least 340ish whp on pump 93 ( thats what my buddies car did ). I cant have a muscle car... without the muscle, lol. Thats just me. On my 30min search i saw some nice retro mavericks.
There's No Headers on This car, You can see clear as day, it's just Stock Exhaust Manifolds. And for a "Built" 302, as you said, Sounds pretty Lazy to me. Just because There some Nice Valve Covers, a Chrome Air Cleaner, and an Electronic HEI Style Distributor, Don't Mean it's "Built" Still had Exhaust Manifolds. Sounded like a Low Compression, Stock 302, with an Aftermarket Dual Plane Intake Manifold, with a Holley 600 Carb. Maybe putting down 140-160 hp to the Wheels. Definitely Not "Built" Cool car tho.

Cool car but it sounds awful. As soon as I seen the rectangle tips I knew it was gonna sound like 💩 throw some long tube headers on there with an h pipe and some 40 series flowmasters and ditch those tips.

Not a bad car but the Thrush turbo mufflers flow like molasses. I had a Thrush turbo on my 98 Lumina and after a heavy rain storm it got filled with water somehow. Long story short, it was impossible to dump the water out of said muffler. But if you want a quieter exhaust, Thrush turbo is a good choice.

I ran open longtubes for a day on my 86 C10 with the 290hp crate 350 (I think the same specs as the 69 Camaro SS350 engine) and that sucker was loud, it set of car alarms with the sound/vibration and it was obnoxious, and barely any power below 3k rpm because the carb wasn't tuned for it. Soon as I bolted up my 2.5" duals with the H pipe and Summit 1 chamber mufflers, it got its power back and was a lot quieter.

I had a ‘72 Maverick Grabber edition. Mine was white with black racing stripes. The interior was blue. It had the Boss 302 engine with a 3 speed manual transmission. It was purchased in late 1975. I owned it till the early 90’s. By then we had 3 boys and it wasn’t practical for us. My husband had been driving it, the 3rd time he blew out the clutch we decided it was time to give it up. I miss that car.
Now that's a maverick. It should not be that toy truck looking shit today.

Weird that it idles incredibly loud yet when he revs it it’s only slightly louder on the decibel meter even when it was open headers
The headers were further away from the decibel Meter than the tailpipes
@@jonathanryan2915 it shouldn’t matter because open headers are incredibly loud and would break the decibel meter. I think this particular engine lacks the horsepower to really scream. It sounds like it’s struggling
@@Njderig definitely needs to be tuned. But the lower reading with open headers are a combination of being further away and the sound partially being blocked by the car itself
