Honestly instead of the whole "I wish I had a gift to be more like everyone else" trope like we all think the direction of the story is going here, I think it would be way more interesting if the family had all their abilities taken away and had to walk a mile in her shoes. Instead of learning what it's like to be like everyone else (a supposedly elevated perspective), why not have everyone else come to understand her instead, and learn to live and appreciate life without their abilities? I could see her becoming the pillar of her family if she isn't already, teaching them the secrets of life's true beauty. Showing them the little details that make us "ordinary people" happy. All the stuff they have been missing out on. It could help stop pushing the narrative that everyone has to be "special" to feel worth something and that everyone innately wants that. Now kids growing up aren't going to feel they have a place in society without something "super" as if kids/teens don't feel that way already. Let's push the narrative that seeing things from other people's perspectives (specifically, the people deemed "not special" or some other supposedly negative thing) is something we could all stand to benefit from.
@@christopherhooper7974 Yes, I don't disagree. We can see that at 1:14. The question is what's the trope that is going to lead the characters and audience to that conclusion. We've all probably seen the "in a group full of superpowered/gifted people there's one who is not" trope, but I personally like the message it inherently holds and I'm excited to see what this movie is going to do with it
Lemme guess, she’s gonna find out that her gift is being unique from her family or some shit. Don’t get me wrong, Disney has some great lessons and I’m a big Disney fan myself but seriously, they kinda need to change it up. (If the movie turns out that way of course lol.)
Here me out a Disney animated movie inspired by gothic horror. Where a family left home looking for work during the Great Depression, after the death of the mother. With them getting stuck in a town not on any map and seemingly lost to time. Where the monster used to be a man who lost his wife & children to a plague... over a century ago. Having stopped trying to find a way to bring them back, transforming himself into a Lovecraftian abomination in the process.
Mirabel’s gift is converting sound waves into telekinetic energy, which she can channel through playing her accordion. Her parents thought she was too powerful so when she was a kid they used her sister’s gift to make her forget she had a gift.
Lmao. I understood that reference. Umbrella Academy for the win. Vanya was done so dirty. Wouldn't it be hilarious though if the movie went in that direction. Lol
Let me guess the plot: she from a family where they all have a gift, tired of being the outcast she'll make a shady deal with a magical entity that gives her a talent but at a cost and must reverse while doing so realizes that she doesn't need a gift to be special anyways and she should be happy with who she is. So I am in the ballpark or what
Agreed! Also while reversing the shady deal she will discover that she can be a strong and independent woman by herself, maybe with a tiny help of a cute quirky animal
I honestly hope she doesn't turn out to have a gift. There's so many movies and shows about people with magic or superpowers or whatever so it would be nice to see a movie that shows you can be special by being ordinary
I have never related more to a character than I do to Mirabel. I have no natural talents whatsoever, and I often feel painfully unexceptional. However, I take pride in working hard to succeed, and I like cheering on my talented friends and family. I hope this movie has a similar message - you don’t have to be special to have worth, and you can celebrate others’ strengths and successes.
@@letvirtueshine9223 came to say exactly that! Not everyone has a "can-do" attitude or motivate themselves through a rut. Or heck, even the ability to pick out silver linings when the world seems dark and gloomy. I definitely hope that's where they went with this movie.

Until I watch the movie itself, I’m choosing to see the moral of this one as: be happy for other’s successes, not jealous or upset. Even if you’re not as successful - be it financially, socially or personally as others, you excel in other regards that will always matter. Sometimes all it takes is just some self reflection to see it :)
And sometimes you can't help but be jealous, especially when it's your own siblings and your family keep getting on your case about it. It's what you do with that jealousy. You can't help your feelings but you can control your actions and attitude.
I hope that'll be the moral lesson for this one. Cause with half the stuff they've been spewing out. Give off some questionable morals many would not agree with, besides pandering to specific audiences.

I want more of that and less of turning white characters black/latino/asian etc. Disney CAN do it properly if they want to. More of this, please!
I am from the caribbean región of Colombia and I agree with you completely. Nothing wrong with diversity but it has to be properly done. Any production, does not matter if it has fantasy elements on it, must respect the background "history, geography, the people it represents". In fact I kind of find those people in favor of forced diversity offensive. It's as for them only european folklore Is worth to be shown to the public with a "diverse" cast. The rest of the World Is full of wonderfull stories that can be told with representation of all
There has been more projects that die before getting green light than there has been "race-swapping", for a long time the original diverse cast wasn't an option, the real reason they do this now is because Hollywood found out latin crowds can bring cash too

"Disney presents a new movie."
*Yes, the floor here is made of floor*
I mean, when you think about all of the remakes and stuff they've been making lately...
Bro I'm tired of all the "I'm an outcast that must overcome" movies. Everyone is freaking weird and feels different. Who cares
Yeah I’m also getting tired of it. I just want a movie about a girl having to face a problem and maybe shake things up a bit like she’s a part of the government and she has to be a representative for her country and there is instability in her country and she and her team have to travel across the country and recruit people to be in the fbi or something. Like I feel like having a badass character in the fbi who’s like the grand puppet master would be so interesting instead of a story about a quirky girl who doesn’t fit in and she realizes it’s cool to be quirky

Did you spoil the plot?
Kinda dark. As long as her mom doesn't turn out to be a robot I think we'll be good.
Why does this sound like the Umbrella Academy lol
Lmao. I understood that reference. Umbrella Academy for the win. Vanya was done so dirty. Wouldn't it be hilarious though if the movie went in that direction. Lol
Is that Umbrella Academy lol?
Let me guess the plot: she from a family where they all have a gift, tired of being the outcast she'll make a shady deal with a magical entity that gives her a talent but at a cost and must reverse while doing so realizes that she doesn't need a gift to be special anyways and she should be happy with who she is. So I am in the ballpark or what
Yeah; it's kinda predictable, Disney movies are like this lately 🐢
Indeed, I am expecting the same plot line. The graphics look amazing tho.

@@editsbybee But since in her family it's the norm to have powers, she IS the extraordinary one.Just...in a lame way!;-P

Be slave, never revolt?

Nothing wrong with diversity but it has to be properly done. Any production, does not matter if it has fantasy elements on it, must respect the background "history, geography, the people it represents".
