I've used this laptop for almost 7 years. No issues so far. Installed the SSD m.2(there is a slot available) and used the 1 TB HDD as storage. Upgraded to 32 gb RAM. Runs smoothly and fast. I clean every year and reapply thermal paste. Runs almost all of the game. Baldur's Gate 3 at 30-50 fps at medium settings. Ghost of Tsushima 30 fps. League of Legends 130 fps. It's totally worth it if you planning to code or editing.
I said it in the video before, THIS IS MY DAILY LAPTOP. a new SSD really is a saver. it has been with me since 2018 and probably is gonna be around till 2026. getting a new laptop is not a priority for me is because of life but for 2d animation and some light blender, is pretty ok.
i got an identical sager back in 2016 and it was top of the line back then. it was overclocked for its entire life so it doesnt boot now but it still ran every game just fine.
Just got a 2020 Lenovo Legion 5 for roughly the same price few weeks ago albeit with one huge caveat: it got some weird bug prevented it to run Windows. But since gaming with Linux is getting better by day, I decided to install Bazzite with it and I'm pretty happy with the performance.
I turned a dell precision m4700 workstation notebook into a gaming notebook it has a 15.6 1080p display and a intel core i7 extreme cpu and 32gb of ram i upgraded the gpu to a GeForce GTX 1050 4GB MXM3.0 Tybe-A video card put a 256 msata ssd and a 4tb 2.5 ssd and a bluray drive it has Bluetooth and wifi
I'm not a gamer but wanting to get a gaming laptop for my son as a gift. $300 is my limit and I'd like to find it on ebay. I know he's wanting something to play Steam games on and I think he said it was old PS3 games on Steam? I'm not sure. It was a random comment, not directly made to me but in front of me in a casual conversation. It was more wishing work would pick up so he could get a gaming laptop and at this point he'd settle for a cheaper one that can run those games. It would be a nice surprise if I found something decent in time for his birthday. He currently games on a PS5 but something about nostalgia of games he had on his Steam library. I don't know any of the titles, sorry, other than it's Playstation and I think he said PS2 or PS3. Tell me brand, specs, etc to look for, I'm completely the opposite of tech savvy, which would make it an even better surprise.
I bought a asus prime z390 for 300$ 😐 and also 1060…for 150. Wow. My builds basically identical to this actually in all components and 10x the price and 5x as old bruhhhh im finna I got 40 inches tho but i already had it, so couldve bought this and hooked up. I also have 40T so
Thinking of buying an msi ge72vr with basically the same specs. Only difference being that it has a 256gb m.2 and a 1tb hdd. Is it worth buying for games like genshin, wuthering waves, Minecraft, etc.
That's exceptional one. This means you are going above what is required for coding. Coding can be done on an 8GB RAM with a Core i5 6th Gen Laptop with a Good SSD. - But if you have got the budget, you would be able to do many other things on that high budget laptop. - But if you are budget friendly, then those which I mentioned will do the work for you. Final Decision will be yours
Not criticizing, just wondering: why wouldn’t you switch the HDD to an SSD upon purchase? By 2023 it should have been obvious an SSD was the way to go. Other thing: how is a 7 year old gaming laptop running an HDD as a boot drive? My ACER is from the same generation (dual core i5, though), yet the boot drive is an m.2 SSD
That’s true, but this laptop was much brothers and he never wanted to spend the extra so it was left as is. Not sure why there was a HDD still, that’s just how we bought it.
@@LADTechright but you can’t really give an opinion on something that you know is a common upgrade for those that are trying to save money by buying used/older generation stuff and then adding cheap upgrades like ram and storage, most people do this right away. You stole it for 300 bucks, even in mid 2024 that's a steal for those specs. You deserve a bad experience if you're too lazy to get a nvme on such a baby.
for the fan speed, on old gaming laptops you can press "FN+1" to change the fan speed from full to auto.
I’ll try it out, thanks!
