About 2 Meter Sessions
====================
Based in the Netherlands, 2 Meter Sessions is an independent, ongoing (new) music platform with a great legacy. Monthly we film 3 to 4 sessions with promising and breakthrough acts from all over the world.
Many well-known acts have visited the show; from James Taylor, Elliott Smith and David Crosby to Damien Jurado, Ben Howard and Josh Ritter, via Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Foo Fighters. Archive footage can regularly be seen in (theatrical) documentary movies, like “Mystify: Michael Hutchence” (with footage of our session with INXS, filmed in 1997), “Heaven Adores You” (with footage of our session with Elliott Smith, filmed in 1998) and “All I Can Say” (with footage of our session with Blind Melon, filmed in 1993).
The show started back in 1987 by radio presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske. On his popular national radio show he persuaded New-Zeeland band Crowded House to play a couple of songs. The response of the public was so great, that 2 Meter Sessions quickly became a household name. In 1993, the show made a successful transition to national television. From there the show became a national phenomenon, for over 10 years, with filmed sessions of new talent, breakthrough acts and arrived career artists. Almost a million of 2 Meter Sessions cd’s were sold in the Netherlands.

I can’t help but feel sad at the loss of Shannon what an incredible talented musician
Wait, his name was Shannon?
Hey, type o negative is my favorite band ever. I'm a huge blind melon fan too
AMEN. Such wasted talent 😢.
@@dinab7852nothing wasted about it, just cut too soon.
If I could bring back only 1, it’d be Shannon.. he just wasn’t supposed to die.
Shannon Hoon was a beautiful man, and very talented. I. Listen to his music every day... Love you brother !!!
Everyone probably already knows this but Lou Reed wrote this song about Candy Darling's and her desire to escape her birth gender. This is also the last song Lou Reed played live. Thought it was a very insightful choice of a tune to cover as was most of all their originals.
I’ve come to hate my body and all that’s it’s requires in this world
I cried the day he died. Blind melons music (most underrated band ever) and Shannon’s words hit me just right, right when I needed them. I am thankful. I’ve been told I look like him, I have to admit I like that.
Soup is one of my favorite albums of all time . It stands the test of time for sure .
I was 13-14 when he died . I didn't know the impact his music had on me until I was much older. It's the hollow voice with that rasp to it and his writing was amazing !
Same. I've only cried over two celebrities deaths before. Shannon Hoon and Chris Farley. Shannon was such a beautiful human being. RiP.
They are the most underrated band ever. You’re right! I heard a DJ sample No Rain for a one hit wonder cd; how bogus.
@@michaelcolonello I used to get so mad hearing them called a one hit wonder.
Knew I heard it in not Lou Reed's voice... thought it was Neal Young, but now it makes sense!! BLIND MELON ❤
Shannon was obviously a huge VU fan. There's a reason that Shannon named his daughter Nico.
nico never really was in the VU, was she?
@@michelvk90 She’s on their first album
No doubt about that. It's cool how he sings the first couple of verses to "After Hours" on Live At The Metro. Right after they finish playing Change, then they proceed into Time. I'm sure many BMelon fans have noticed how he ad libs "All I can say is that the Velvet Underground is great" on some live versions of No Rain as well.
There's a reason I named my son Shannon.
Wowww
Best damm singer and performer of all time.. Still listen and Love you brother... Shannon Hoon... You are still the best... Miss you so damn much....m
Show of hands for all my Hoon fans rocking to this VU cover in mid 2023
We miss ya Shannon!❤️👏
2024 here! Blind Melon is timeless.
he may be gone but watching him in this vid you can see just how full of life he was and that grin of his ya juat cant help but smile..... this is by far my fav song of him such a fun song just like his personality..... you will continue to live on thru your music cuz i know i cant be the only one out there listening to him everyday..... keep singinging with the angels We Hear You ....... rest easy man
That beautiful voice.
Brads( bass player ) face as Shannon starts singing makes this video for me , It captures my entire experience with his voice , At first its like wtf , so weird , then i fell into the groove with it and soon began to appreciate how unique it was . Basically hooked after that .
I’m having a really deep connection to this song because of that amazing voice
Great little moment
This video quality is amazing for 1993!
This song got me through 1994. RIP Shannon. All the love.
"I hope you build a ladder to the sky, and climb on every rung...And I hope you stay Forever Young"
--Dylan😢
The best cover ever!!!!
Love Shannon, but Antony's version is better
Their best cover is that zeppelin cover they do.. out on the tiles… incredible
found blind melon through this. incredible song band and performance
Oh wow, really? Odd entry vector, but good for you! No Rain is eponymous 90s alternative rock! Tones of Home is great too
Always one of my favorite bands. Gone way too soon. They're amazing.
2 meter Sessions fokkin rules!
This is such a beautiful version of Lou Reeds song about Candy Darling 💕
I can’t believe I’ve never heard this before
I first heard this version of "Candy Says" during the end credits of "Beautiful Darling", a 2010 documentary about Candy Darling. It can be seen on RUclips, it's very interesting and touching, and gives some great resonant context for this song.
I love how Shannon could just add the rasp when he wanted!
Somewhere Candy Darling is playing this over and over….❤😢
Best cover ever
What a voice!!!
Wow. That guy was quite a sunshine.
Yo i have a whole blind watermelon tattoo on my body for this band. Like a walking watermelon with sunglasses and a walking stick. This is amazing! My happy song
I have a cockroach necklace tattooed for Shannon!
Thankyou always ☮️☮️☮️
Voice of an angel
Una de las voces más dulces❤ EVER!
Brilliant
I love this song.
All bands love velvet underground im love velvet
the original makes me cry, this makes me happy 😊
This version of "Candy Says" was played during the end credits of "Beautiful Darling", a 2010 documentary about Candy Darling, the subject of this song and a muse of Lou Reed. This version might make you cry if you see that touching documentary, since Candy had such a sad and tragic end.
Man I miss Shannon.
Who’s listening in 2023
2024!
Dude could howl
You said it!!!!
excellent
Beautiful boy, man, human...child of God...
Notice how the 2 meter crew was not taking them serious at all but after Shannon blew they faces totally off with that cover Rupert was asked if it was all right and pretty and the whole crew starts throwing out songs they wanna hear next they was then blown away lol...Shannon is only 1 mile from where I live in Lafayette,Indiana hes buried at Dayton cemetery small town on the edge of Lafayette and i often visit his grave it is so peaceful and quiet out there its totally sobering when you stand there gazing out over the tranquil of all the quiet and peaceful birds chirping and just reflect on the mans life he spent barely 28yrs with us but he lived a load in those 28yrs some ppl burn the candle from both ends and pack more into a small amount of time than most do in say 75yrs he lived to see more than most of us ever will not to say i dont wish he didnt meet an untimely death can't fathom what was to come from these guys they only made 2 albums and the 2nd was new and critics hated it...ill always believe had he not went to rehab the last time before the start of this soup tour he likely would have lived or at least lived lot longer...his tolerance had went down he gets out goes on binge and BOOM blew up his heart only thing is they never released the amount of coke he had in his system other than saying it was heart attack attribiuted by O.D. cocaine....well and done still but im curious to see how much he did cuz rogers stevens said he done the largest ball of coke he ever seen between L.A. and then in Houston bought some pure "Bolivian flake " and that was the straw broke the camels back in the all i can say doc it shows shannon in the hotel room at aroubd 10 or 1030 in just 3 hrs they find hin dead in Christopher's bunk on the bus which is odd as fuck he said NOBODY ever ever got in another guys bunk and def not to sleep so i figure he had to have known he was in trouble maybe and was either on the bus or close to it and maybe was having chest pains and went to lay down a min to see if he get his heart slow down...im only speculating as why he got dressed out of his shorts in his hotel room at 1030 in the video and then by 130 found dead d9wn stairs on the bus in Christopher's bunk?? Its bizaare ive resd 2 books on them which is all they is and it doesnt tell any more than i just said...anyone else wanna chime in on this?
Shannon Hoon! 💗
Beautiful, and vastly better version than the original. It's a shame this recording isn't on Spotify. Rip Shannon

Yes
❤
FUCK! Why'd you leave brother.
Shannon, I miss you....
Miss the melon...............
Hee Hee
...HEE
Why does this looks like it was shot in the 60s
About 2:20 for the song
Why, darling!?
The other guy who played guitar look like eomer of Rohan hehe
He sounds like Terry Reid also
Morning Version
This is better than the original version!!!!!!!!!
no way
this is to up beat when its supossed to be mellow
it’s definitely a different vibe, I absolutely adore Shannon, but the original can’t be outdone
4 sure
nothing beats the velvet song
Yeah, Lou would have been first offended then disgusted.
Am I the only one thinking this is the worst Velvet Underground cover I've heard?
Yes
No. This is wanna be hippie dippie schmuck rock. Dreadful.
@@cactaceous I love this cover of "Candy Says". It was used during the end credits of "Beautiful Darling", a 2010 documentary about Candy Darling, the subject of the song and muse of Lou Reed.
Garbage. Destroyed this piece. No understanding of the subject. None.
I mean. Not great.
I mean. You are very wrong.😃
@@drtgyhujwertyuNot really.
Awful
yes, you are.
@@danielapereira7935 Gimmie a break, this is the most horrible vocal for this classic song. You obviously have bad taste. Cheers!
@@Strimbles hahaha troll.
@@danielapereira7935 I'm not a troll just speaking my opinion. He's so out of tune, if you can't hear it you're tone deaf... not my problem...deal with it! Cheers!
I said it on another comment, this is just wannabe hippie dippie schmuck rock. Pretty dreadfully bad.
