Well, mind you, the Greek underworld isn't the same as hell. People tend to conflate them. In the underworld, there's a place called Elysium, so maybe that's what the can-can music is referring to.
+Kevin Lane there are two parts of it. Tartarus and Elisium (or something around it). And as far as I remember he went there to this darker part, passing by Sysyphus damned to push the big rock and so on, and the whole deal he went there for Eurydice out of hell and it didn't end well for neither of them, so I assumed the soundtrack might follow it's darker tone
+Kevin Lane that's why I'm saying I assumed, basing on my memory of the myth, but since that's been ages ago, it might be distorted. it's mostly the atmosphere of the story and major plot twists that stuck in my head :)
This is the scene where the gods are having a big ass party in hell 'cause they convinced Jupiter to let them go with him and Olympus is boring as fuck. It's friggin' hilarious :p
@@cartoonmaster2401 No he isn't. You should watch the whole thing. They all went to hell because Zeus is afraid of the backlash from Public Opinion (an actual character in this) when Hades kidnaps Eurydice by killing her
I saw "Orpheus in the Underworld" performed a few years ago. It still applies marvelously to modern media culture and only requires minimal tweaking to bring up to date. Musically it's a marvel. The audience was on their feet during the "Galop Infernal" and I had to keep myself from jumping onstage and dancing along!
AAHHH...One of my absolute favorites as well as being one of the very first pieces of Music I remember ever hearing...Thanks a bunch for this...Cheers!
I did treasure island the play and in one scene this man can’t stop thinking about cheese. Long story short we dressed as cheese slices in yellow skirts and cheese hats and did the can-can to this song.
I truly love this channel for all the music posted but the only problem seems to be that only 1/100 videos actually have a description explaining the historical context of the piece instead of just the title.
Cause it goes CAN CAN CANCANCANCANCANCAN CANCANCANCANCANCAN CANCANCANCANCAN CANCANCANCANCANCANCANCANCAN CAN CAN CANCANCANCANCANCAN CANCANCANCANCANCAN CANCANCANCANCANCANCANCANCAN

Well, that's quite a cheerful underworld. Definitely not as hellish as in the Orpheus' myth.

***** I will concede this argument to you, for now, but just to clarify, there's also Asphodel, the gray area in-between.

***** I too have a poor memory. I only remember the visuals and the parts that interest me. Are you on Facebook?
I love how all classical composers look like you just threw up in their face.

This is way too goddamn cheery to be about the Underworld. I love it.
