I've watched this so many times. It's so fucking good. I wish he'd be in Suffo again. Pierced was such an amazing, and a huge part of that was Doug's drumming.
Well, no, not mainly. Terrance's more progressive approach to songwriting has a lot to do with it - they really evolved in terms of harmonies, polyphony and song structures on Pierced, the difference is crazy when you learn songs from previous albums and from Pierced on guitar. But Doug's drumming indeed played a big part on the album, very unique and just insanely tight, probably the tightest I've seen so far, in some ways surpassing even Mike's.
Good job brother, excellent control and technique. I honestly had no clue you were the original drummer for this track. I want to have control and the finesse you possess. What kind of Drum Shells do you use?
Somebody please explain me, i always thought mike smith was the original drummer for suffocation and by what i read i see thats no true, what happened?
yeah Manu you're right, Mike was the original drummer for Suffo, but Doug did the drumming on the PfW album. Nothing at all against the other drummers they've recorded with, but something about Doug's style always appealed to me more than all the others. I wish they'd recorded with him more than just once.
Doug Bohn didn't really vanish. He played in various bands after Suffocation, the last one being Pyrexia. He's recently moved away from NY and is working on a different project (not death metal)
You're telling this to the creator of one of the biggest masterpieces in death metal?...... There's a shit ton of drummers that do this and it comes out flawless.
@@SVT_sleeper_4v with age it becomes harder to play like that. Not saying he isn't good at what he's doing but that's just what I think because there isn't any drummers that can play over 220 with this technique (from what I know).
Try G-Calero (RIP) from wormed...shit even Ricky Myers from Disgorge plays the same way. They been doing it that way since the beginning of death metal times...
@@SVT_sleeper_4v oh well maybe I'm looking at it wrong because it looks like he's all tensed up but maybe its just a different technique.. idk good point though man
“Tense” playing = different response at the tip of the stick = sounds that way (adds dryness and tension) In that case, I’m pretty sure the man knew what he was doing.
who tha hell disliked the video where master personally plays the best Suffo song ever?
some retard😂

The man that put a perfect drum session for a top 5 iconic album on the map!
Mike Smiths a legend but Doug played/recorded Suffocations greatest album.
One of Death Metals top 3 albums ever made
Man I'd love to see the whole album done like this. Played along on my guitar to what I could here but Suffo riffs are really god damn hard.
Can't believe someone cane make a "dont like" to this masterpiece of music!! Long life to Mr D B
Back in 1996 I could just dream of seeing this. RUclips did it..
Thanks man 🙏🏻
badass Doug! the invoking next plz. thats my favorite drumwork ever.
I can hear the rest of the song in my head! Awesome
Doug can hear that too...
this is so good man. Thanks for uploading/sharing. Finally get to see my favorite suffocation song played the way it was recorded.
One album... stays in history forever, thank you Doug
How could anyone dislike this? This man literally was the first person in the world to play this song on drums lol! He invented the shit.
Great, great play by the legend himself! Hats off to Doug Bohn!
Best album by them mainly because of Doug’s drumming!!

Doug is a beast on the kit. True badassery right there! \m/
Doug u da man buddy! Piercd will always be my first suffocationn album and the best drumming by far.20 years of envy coming at ya. Kick aSs bud😎
I personally was not aware Doug has videos posted on RUclips, let alone performing a true everlasting death metal classic. Mindblowing.
awesome, classic song
This man is a legend
goddamn i love the way you playing drum Doug, you're awesome man! i love you!
Doug Bohn, the drummer on the suffocations greatest LP!!!!!
Those toms = pure nostalgia
Hi Doug! Thank you so much for this video. Any chance of making a video for Brood of Hatred?
Whoa! You play that snare pattern with one hand?
Right! I always thought he used both and that’s the way I’ve always jammed it. 😂
Not as if I’m tight on this song anyway! 😆
@@MySpaceDxC_Suffo_AtTheGates I thought so too initially, that’s how mike plays it live.
That song!!!!! ☺☺☺
Pure supremacy!
Sick \m/

Wow never thought of trying those one handed triplets probably a lot easier than what I was doing
Wish they did at least one more album with him PFW is classick.
good playing sr.
waiting for abomination reborns lml
Diego Salcedo you can wait forever...Doug didn't play on that album.
Amazing how people nowadays just run their mouths even if they don't have a clue of what they're talking about. Abomination Reborn...

MANU ALDAPE Mike Smith was the original drummer of Suffocating replaced by Doug after Effigy of the forgotten.
*after Breeding The Spawn*

Why the hell is he not in Suffocation any more? And Why is it the both Doug's that were in Suffocation have vanished,?

Inhumed Demuhnl the other Doug is their sound man.
Breeding the spawn please!
Duuuude.... NICE!
It catches people that he does the snare parts one handed on those fast notes. Others use two hands. He's a beast.
It sounds better with 2 hands imo
Lille Gruber brought me here
So 15 kids out there think they can play the song better than the guy who played it on the album.... woooow.
Kevin Talley and Dave culross both play it better imo
Why so sloooooooow
This is just like the studio version.
Cuz not everything has to be about mindless and endless blast beats
Now this is how you don't do blast beats.. great cover but you're using your whole forearm instead of wrist/fingers

Hell no. This man created these drum parts and one can tell. He does perfect.
Never ever.
