    The big companies Sony Canon Nikon and Sigma Tamron are avoiding 28mm so they can sell more prime lenses.
    18 or 20mm, 24,35,50,85 and 135 so 6 lenses.
    18 or 20, 28,45,75 or 85 and 135 so 5 lenses would be sufficient. Due to the many 35mm lenses, 24mm and 20mm lenses are still sold.
    When selling 28mm you don't need a 24mm or 35mm. It is the ideal focal length for street and also landscape/travel. Definitely much more practical than a 35mm.

    28mm is a great focal length. Wish Sony would make a 28/1.8G that performs like their 20/1.8G does!

    28 has become my favorite on full frame 😁 It is the perfect indoors lens. Wide enough but not so wide that distortion is an issue. Perfect for vlogging as well if that's your thing. It's not too exciting but it is super flexible

    This will also suit the new retro ZF, with the aperture ring!

    Really thinking if I should get the Viltrox 28mm f1.8 or the Nikon 28mm f2.8 Pancake. Leica Q look vs. small pancake lens....

    I bought the z mount lens version used “like new” for only $290 and I am impressed how great the condition looked. Came with all the manufacturing paper work and loved the shots at took at home.
    Real test will be this weekend when I take it to the streets. For $290, I can’t complain. Currently using a z5 body with the 28mm viltrox lens.
    I might upgrade to the Zf but if I do, I may have no camera for months since I would have to sell the z5 to have money for the Zf.

      What other lenses do you have on the Z system; and how does it compare??

    • @WidePhotographs
      @WidePhotographs Год назад +1

      @@twoblink I have the NIKKOR z 50mm 1.8. Can’t really compare these two since it’s different focal lengths. But I really enjoyed the shoots that came out using the Viltrox.
      But I will admit, I would rather own the NIKKOR 28-75 f/2.8 lens because it would be more convenient for vacation shooting. Nothing wrong with owning a prime 28mm and prime 50mm but think about having to carry two while on vacation. You don’t need to carry two but just throwing that idea out there .

    • @twoblink
      @twoblink Год назад +1

      @@WidePhotographs I bought a z30 and a zfc for each of my daughters. Found that the new Z lenses are amazing, they are using the 16-50 and 18-140.
      I shoot D750 and 28mm f1. 8g mainly. And is in going to get nothing brighter than f2.8 on the 28mm z, then might as well get the 28-75mm. I would prefer a Z5ii body though, basically a ZF but not retro styling.
      But 2 things with that, 1. Knowing that Tamron has a G2 version we aren't getting.. And two wondering if I'll regret buying into the Z system and not shooting with S-line glass...

    • @WidePhotographs
      @WidePhotographs Год назад +1

      @@twoblink I prefer Nikon cameras over other brands because i am only into photography only. If you’re leaning into videography, get a Sony.
      Since you already have a camera, wait for the z5ii. That camera will out sell any Nikon camera if they add to critical updates, IBS and new Expeed 7 processor. If they add those 2 features on a z5ii and keeping everything else the same, that will be best entry level full frame camera available.

  • @princeharbinger
    @princeharbinger Год назад +1

    It's kind of pointless to have an aperture ring that doesn't click for photographers. Shame it's not fully weather-sealed. I am a bit disappointed with the distortion, CA, coma, and spherical highlight performance. Doesn't seem as good as their 16mm F/1.8. Hopefully, they'll revisit this focal length and make it better the next time around. Until than, the Sigma 28mm is still king.

    28mm is actually a very nice focal length on full frame! 😂
    It's super versatile and part of the 14/28/40/85/135mm group 😄
    I for myself am trying to collect all Sigma f1.4/1.8s on this group since I think one needs no more than those

      I think I want to try a 25mm 50mm and a 90mm. Then have an apsc and a full frame camera. I think that would be a good way to cover all my favorite focal lengths. I am thinking of a good ultrawide like either a ultrawide zoom or (14, 15, or 16) prime lens

    28mm is my favorite lens, along with 85mm. But that distortion is ugly... Not sure for Sony, but for Nikons in-camera corrections doesn't work with other than Nikkor lenses. For this price range, I would rather look for used 28mm 1.8G...

    I am very surprised by the quality of new Viltrox lenses. They are beautifully made with metal and heavy glass. This one could be the good companion of the recent Nikon zf and it s far better build than the Nikon f2.8 equivalent AND with the aperture ring. Nikon you could have done this instead of your plastiky SE line… shame on you
