He gets a package from an unknown sender with 6 potential items inside. And this is where the multiverse comes into effect. Every choice is a different universe, but those universes would never have existed if it weren't for the package. Sure, breaking the bank had choices, but those were all canonically part of the same timeline, as shown by the doctor's autopsy report the very next game. It's unsure what they did, whether they removed the others so only one singular timeline of pressing the button did, or merging them all, or anything, but as I've said already without a doubt, it wasn't to reset the timeline, it was to put it all in motion.

The whole "pulling characters out of universes" theory doesn't hold up seeing as boyfriend and pico were in a relationship beforehand.
I had the same thought but dd couldve yoinked pico into fnf to use way before he was aware of boyfriends existence.
