Shaq was the first Magic star, but let's remember he had the 2nd best guard on the planet in Penny Hardaway. I can easily prove that. Penny was 1st team All-NBA in consecutive years (1995 and 1996). No other guard did that from 1992-1996 besides MJ.

Shaq put Orlando on the map. Yes he only spent 4 years there, but he took em to 2 ECF and an NBA Finals and was a dominant force all 4 years. Not to mention the Magic are not the Lakers or Celtics, they don't have 17 banners hanging up, they don't have a history of winning. If Shaq did that in a Lakers or Celtics jersey, he'd never get his jersey retired. But cause he did it in Orlando, it's a big deal for them. It's not as egregious as they're making it out to be.

@Brian-bq8tj Russell didn't get his jersey retired because he died. It was because of his 11 chips, overall contributions and the things that he had to deal with during his career. The fact that this needs to be explained to you shows how young and ignorant you are.

There's no way you lead a franchise to their first Finals appearance and not get your jersey retired. Even if you don't win the title, the fact that you were the best player on the team is more than enough. It's very similar to Kawhi leading the Raptors to the Finals in his first year. It shouldn't be a longevity award but should be an award based off of achievements with said franchise

He has stuff he can be proud of from his tenure there BUT his all time legacy was created and lives in LA

  • @Moyitaaa12

Ppl like doggy annoy me at times. Curry is without a doubt the greatest shooter in history. That overshadows his handles, vision, and passing. Curry is also a stamina and spacing machine. Even on defense, he can hold his own. His play is so great, it not only elevates him, it elevates the team as a whole. Spacing opens court, defender draws will open up an extra man, and can cross you up or make the pass if he has to drive down the lane. He may not be top 10, but he is top 15 for sure.
