    I know T*Mobile used to run in, I believe, the 1905MHz band back before they set up that agreement with AT&T to be able to use their towers, which are it 850MHz. That was back in the days when 4G was just starting, and also why T*Mobile was known for being useless indoors. I'm wondering if SpaceX will be equipping their new Starlink satellites with these 1905MHz transceivers for this DTC service. By comparison, older WiFi, Bluetooth, and your microwave oven runs at 2400MHz, and most microwave communications also happen all over the spectrum from 1500MHz to 3000MHz and elsewhere, so I can totally see that being a thing.
    That said, I would expect the FTC to basically tell OmnySpace to F off and come back later after they have tried coordinating with SpaceX based on what was presented here. However, the US government certainly has done things semiregularly that goes against the letter of the law, as well as common sense reasoning.

    Both AT&T and Omni space with others are envious of Musk with all his accomplishments. T mobile could easily jump ahead as number 1 cell provider if coverage worldwide is possible. Omni space has 2 satellites planing on 200. Who sets the standards? Remember Beta vs VHS. Remember CCS charger plug in USA when way more Teslas were sold than anyone else. Finally adopted Teslas plug or NACS plug. Again, who sets the standard a 2 satellite company or one with thousands already in space. I am surprised apple’s GLOBALSTAR has not joined the party against Starlink.

Whether solar interference, possible EMP, whatever make the satellites better or OMG cooperate with other companies so no one has interference issues. China, India and others will be launch their own versions. Do you think they care if their satellites interfere with USA satellites. Reminds me of Big 3 comparing their FSD with Tesla FSD. Big 3 states their FSD works great but only certain highways where things are regulated more. Musk basically stated you need a system that works everywhere as there is usually chaos everywhere. Road repairs, white line and other lines erased during repairs. You need a FSD that does not need perfect roads and perfect lines painted on the roads. Anyway! Common sense is like kryptonite nowadays. Musk has been called the disruptor which is finally causing change. Change is a bear.

    IMO Omnispace has zero chance of success, their goal is obstruction. A quick look at the company shows they are kind of a joke. There is no real path for them to ever develop a service anyone would want to buy. Having a no real path to profitability they are hoping to obstruct SpaceX to the point SpaceX buys them or pays them off. If neither of those 2 options pan out they hope some SpaceX rival will buy Omnispace as tool to obstruct SpaceX.....In truth it may work, depending on their asking price and how receptive FCC is to Omnispace's petition SpaceX may find it cheaper to buy and shutdown Omnispace rather than fight them in court.

      @professorg8383 following an unjust regulation or law is not an excuse. The north did not follow laws either when they went to war to free the slaves. Are you saying that blacks should be slaved because that was not allowed? This company does not own the airwaves. It is public property they are given permission to use. They do not own the rights to the airwaves. IF they do not keep up with technology and they fail to innovate they they doom themselves to extinction. Besides that i find it h8ghly suspicious that they refuse to do any cooperation with SpaceX. Almost like they are hiding something or even lying. If then actually do have an issue why would they not acept help to resolve the issue? And third this appears to me to be a company using regulations to stop competition. Would it be OK for a buggy maker to prevent car companies from build cars? That's absurb! They have sat on this pot for too long. They either need to take a dump or give way to others. If in another 20 or 5 or even 3 years another company has better technology than SpaceX they it would be up to them to either keep up or step aside also. I spent 16 years in communications technology... land based, airwaves and satalites... you either innovate or die like the dinosaur you are.

    Is Starlink interfering with their satellites, or is it interfering with their potential for making money? I hope the FCC sees that competitors may attempt to use it as a way to stymie services that could "eat their lunch". One would hope that the FCC would take that into account and fully evaluate everything independently instead of just taking one party's word for it.

      Starlink is indeed interfering with their satellites, But Omnispace is licensed by the ITC and they aren't looking to compete with Starlink.

    Thus sprek Zarathustra. - AKA Starlink's rival.
    BTW, if you've not read the book yet and haven't the time for a 4 volume encyclopedic marvel, just Google for the meaning. I'm 78 and read it in 1964 as what I thought was a cruel assignment in my "Lit class". Now, I'm glad I did - Thanks Ms. Hunt !

      Do not believe what you heard in this video, he got it wrong! Way wrong. Omnispace does not play in the US market. Omnispace owns and operates global non-geostationary satellite infrastructure to provide mobile satellite services internationally in markets across Asia Pacific, South America, North America, Africa and the Middle East. Harnessing globally harmonized 2 GHz spectrum assets as well as advanced satellite and mobile technologies. They are licensed by the ITC. But starlink satellites go around the world!

    So tired of these wannabe companies, if they want to compete then compete, but don’t lie to stop progression , having cell service oil my snowmobile breaks down 30 miles from the closest town is what’s needed signal on all the highways. It only get to -40 and colder here exposer happens quick , but atleast you stand a chance if someone is coming

    I'm sure it is difficult for most Americans to appreciate the value of DTC. I live far offgrid in Mexico. To reach cell service, I must drive across a large river and travel 1 hour on dirt roads to the closest signal. During the rainy season (July-Nov) It takes several hours by horse. Also, while driving through dangerous mountain highways, there is no way to seek help in an emergency. This situation is the daily reality of much of the world.
    I could care less about a smaller company whining that they want to play. If Omni has the infrastructure, by all means...But, otherwise, get off the bus.

    This is probably true... that spectrum is very small slices with small guard bands designed for cellular (pcs) communications. I think all this is misguided and the FCC needs to free up some spectrum that is designed for this use.

    don’t forget this companies based in Mexico they’re the capital for corruption. I still can’t help but wonder how these direct sale satellites are functioning. T-Mobile operates off of 660 MHz. That’s their band manufactures are sloppy and T-Mobile is not there are not filters in these receivers that not out all other frequencies other than say the 660 MHz that’s why a whole multitude of phones can exist in the same area without interference or crossing one another over. So, if Mexico can’t figure out a simple notch filter for their devices, then don’t worry about the satellite because none of it’s going to work very well and that is pretty pretty well. The standard MO and Third World countries like Mexico. Thanks. 10:34

    • @professorg8383
      @professorg8383 4 месяца назад

      Well the problem is with their 1.9GHz frequencies and not the 660MHz, It would clearly be illegal for SpaceX to use the 660MHz frequency. But the in the 1.9GHz 2GHz frequencies. that they inherited from Sprint. I believe it was part of the 4G PCS network There is some overlap in frequency allocation for satellite communication and mobile phone use. Although other US carriers have licences in these frequencies, but use them more for network management and not cel service. T-Mobile is kind of unique in using it it cellular service 4G I believe. This little allocation overlap is why they chose T-Mobile, because it would not technically require new allocations. It's sort of a unique sweet spot.
      But enter Omnispace. They are licensed by the ITU. International Telecommunications Union.

    DTC sounds like a good solution for non dense areas. For dense areas, smaller cells are of course better.
    But to be clear: back in 2010 I had edge connection deep in the desert. They had solar powered cell towers there... I could play my online games there. This would make the whole desert coverable without having to climb the hill.

    • @bloepje
      @bloepje 4 месяца назад

      To be fair: spacex is so far ahead that they already have a monopoly. This means that spacex should be under governmental supervision, or there needs to be something that would make a competitive market in low orbit possible.
      No competition, means no market, means supervision.
      But in the end I will enjoy my starlink though.

    Even tho I know it’s probably take a while and be difficult but Starlink should make a modem that can connect to Starlink satellites for phone companies to put in their phones so people can just have Starlink as a service provider instead of the other providers because it’s very clear Starlink is way better and if Starlink can get dtc to work in doors and stuff why have a service provider like version if you could get Starlink and have service anywhere

    What are the actual bandwidths that both companies are being transmitted on.
    This technology seems like old tech being used in a new way, so if it is working normally, why would you have a crossover, unless they are operating outside of their bands. Since we have these same transceivers here on Earth, by the millions, why would it be causing problems now.
    Something is not right!

    Think about it … Starlink is in a lower orbit with its antennas pointed towards the earth, not upward to the other companies higher orbit, just that fact alone reduces interference! I don’t know the front to back ratio of the Starlink antennas, but in my guess, it at least 20db down! I’ve said enough and I’ll shut up now!

      It will be an add on to your T-Mobile bill, although I could see somehow joining the two accounts and getting a discount. I would however like to see some sort of way that customers, or anyone really, could have the capability to text to preordained emergency numbers (like 911) without extra fees or even an account. Abuse would be punished the same as calling 911 for no reason.
