Another great time hanging out with you! I agree that fab filter does not put out the product until they have really done something amazing. (Too many companies put out a new product because it’s a new year, they are not like that). Another great thing... it is a 30 DAY FULL trial (again some companies give you just a taste, they give you the entire smorgasbord). Fab Filter has really helped me become better !!!!!! And finally, it should be “squared“ thanks 😊

I actually understand it now thanks to your explanation. I’m going to upgrade to 2 this week. The modulation actually makes way more sense with this new one. You can see the manipulation of the knobs. Awesome, thanks again for your great work
I think the low CPU hit is a huge improvement. At least on my system, which is not bad at all, Saturn 1 is quite a CPU hog. Anyway, it's a great plugin for mixing/sound design, and even for mastering!

Just upgraded. The most important change to me was getting rid of all the red colors in Saturn 1. Other than that I don’t know. Haven’t really used Saturn for anything.

what's the difference between clean tube and clean tape saturation. I know tape adds warmth by high frequency attenuation and tube adds warmth by low frequencies amplification. But what does the clean setting do on each side ??????
The full package is somewhat desirable for me... I'm a sound designer that mixes he's own stuff... once I do it professionally, I will be coming to you for first mixes at least

Good review...... maybe. I have no idea how to judge saturation on electronic instruments since I have no way of knowing how they're supposed to sound in the first place. This requires real instruments to show anything. Just my opinion.

Without even watching, I bet you do love it, because it doesn't have fancy graphics :) I wonder if you ever tested UAD plugins :) You would be really really stressed because they will sound so good, but yet they will all have the "analog look, with screws and everything" you hate :) It will be fun to watch to be honest

Man. I like all your reviews. But this time you forgot the most important changes. The controller side. Now everything is color coded and you can visually see the changes, when you use Midi Controllers. Thats really a big change. Because you see the borders of your movement range.
So if I already have Saturn 1, what would you consider the best value between this and Kazrog True Iron? (I know, apples & oranges but the main point that gets me interested in this would be the transformer models)
As much as I understand Fabfilter's approach of "clean" plugins regarding compressor or EQ, if I look for a saturizer I want something with more warmth or character, I like the Abbey Road Saturizer a lot. And last but not least, this one has no screws so not for me! ;)
Look up harmonic distortion. Look up overtones and timbre. Understand what the basics of what saturation or distortion do. It’s all about adding odd and/or even harmonics to liven the sound, without it music sounds flimsy and not at all exciting.
Ibrahim I admit, I don’t understand much of it. I don’t understand how interfering with the signal chain would make the sound better. To me it feels like compromising something and make it less clean, i.e. less perfect. I forgive distortion caused by technical limitations of hardware (like characteristics of imperfect DAC’s). Like how the Fairlight CMI has a characteristic sound as an effect of it’s technical limitations of the time or the Sega megadrive model 1 vs the model 2. (The model 2 had a better DAC but a poorer designed amplifier circuit which caused it to distort more) But that’s because of the technology that simply tried the best it could do with was available at the time. Nowerdays we don’t have those limitations anymore. I reckon if they had better DAC’s the hardware designers would have glady used them if available. Steely Dan would probably have detested the use of distortion plugins, they where very particular about their sound quality. I look at this from a dry technical perspective. Please convince me, (I like clean digital sounds from DX7’s / M1, wavestation, etc). I grew up in the late 80’s / early 90’s with digital technology progressing bit by bit until today, the present. Can there be something good in distortion?🤔 Could someone explain from a technical point of view how this exactly works. If I try these things on my own sounds it always results in something I don’t like, and discard the effect not suiting my taste.

Why don't you buy a custom PC as the second workstation, with €700 you already have a top of the line Ryzon CPU, the fastest NVme SSD disk, and it will easily overpower any mac that cost 8 times more.

I also love cubase quadrafuzz 2 it's also a multiband distortion plugin, only without the modulation capabilities

Those sine wave basses are cone shredders. I can see the PA Audio technician diving for the kill switch. I speak from personal experience he he.

Never got on with this one. You should try DMG Audio plug ins and/or Unfiltered Audio, they don't anything crazy, but they're top notch.

True Iron has some magic under the hood. I don't know how they did it, but it has real mojo to match any of my outboard pres.
Also consider Wavesfactory Spectre
