    Pretty sure the linear phase option is for the crossovers, so using it in single band won't do anything

    • @niklassilen4313
      @niklassilen4313 4 года назад +3

      Incorrect: Setting it to linear phase, no matter how many crossovers, will also affect the oversampling filters. Linear phase will cause the oversampling filters to be linear phase.

    • @exshenanigan2333
      @exshenanigan2333 4 года назад +2

      "When Linear Phase is enabled, both multi-band crossover filtering and internal oversampling (High Quality
      mode) is done using linear phase filters. As this avoids phase distortion/smudging, it makes Saturn 2 much
      more suitable for mastering purposes. Note that other types of filtering that are taking place (e.g. Tone EQ,
      pre/post EQ stages for the different distortion types, amp and cabinet modelling) do not switch to linear phase
      processing, as this would highly affect the actual character of the different styles."
      according to the manual Niklas seems correct.

      @@exshenanigan2333 im confused why they say linear phase would avoid smudging? I thought linear phase by its nature being used for cutoffs would cause transient smearing. unless they are using full crossovers.

    To my ears, saturn 2 didn't sound same to the old saturn.
    So I checked by myself in the same way.
    As a result, tape algorithms and some of FX algorithms caused the perfect phase cancelation, but others didn't.

    When i put a Decapitator or something like that on my stuff (like kick or snare), it never reduce the peak level. It sounds louder of course, but i never get that nice effect you have with saturation. Do you know why this always happen? BTW this plugin is so awesome, i'm sure i will get this in the future. I don't know. It's a good tool but I don't feel paying 69 Euro upgrade is justifiable for some sparse new features which should have been there from the very beginning. What is one reason I never could get too warm with Saturn 1. The text size also is still awfully small on a 2560x1440 screen. This policy feels wrong to me. For that price other do complete plugins, the changes are too few. Cheers

    I don't know if I got it right, when you say '...soon the mix and mastering videos are going to be members only'... which videos you are talking about ?

    • @only4posting
      @only4posting 4 года назад +3

      I re-checked, as an example, a recent video 'how to reamp your pedals back to your daw', and that video intro has the ' mix and mastering tutorial video" on it.
      So, soon, all those videos will vanish from normal youtube, and will go to paid RUclips, is that right? Without all those videos, that people want the most (if people have 10 free minutes to watch a video, they will rather watch a mix/ mastering tutorial than a sponsored product presentation, product unboxing or assembling a desk or chair :), those videos that led people into subscribing, in the first place, will no longer exist, for free. Many subscribers will be wondering What will be left to watch, for them, instructive/tutorial-wise, when all the 'important' content will go away. By going away, I mean no longer be accessible freely, but only by paying.
      Isn't there a risk for people to mass unsubscribe, and go away, feeling a bit kind of 'betrayed', as they will think 'ok, we came here and subscribed mainly for these mix/mastering videos, and now that we helped bringing this channel to close to 100k subscribers, David goes 'full greed', kind of gives us a long middle finger, and makes those videos only available for those who pay, when, with all the success he has, the google ads, the extra featured/ promotional content' and products placement/promotion on the channel, he surely doesn't really need those extra youtube pennies ? "
      I bet some infuriated subscribers , who want everything for free, will post negative comments like 'ok, without those mix/ mastering tutorial videos, which videos will we be able to access, for free ? The kind of videos where he presents new plugins, and tells us we can have it at a discounted price ? " there will be that kind of trolls...
      Just saying, of course. I'm personally fine with this change , I already pay for other youtube red channels, and I'm a patreon of several people in several things I enjoy doing. But unfortunately, to the majority of the planet who access youtube, or even are trying to succeed, or even start, in music, even something as 1 euro or dollar can mean a lot.
      I just say 'loudly' what some subscribers might think, about this... :) no hate here, no troll, just love.
      This is just me imagining what 90% of the subscribers might feel like, in a few days or weeks, when they will be wanting to re- watch that youtube video, from their internet bookmarks, and suddenly, they will be granted with a message 'sorry, you can no longer watch this youtube video, unless you pay'.
      I personally became aware of this change, because I always watch the ENTIRE videos. But the 70-90% of subscribers who always skip a few dozens seconds/ intros of all videos, they will probably not have a chance for watching/hearing the part '... and soon, the...only for members'.... and it will be a bigger surprise, when they find out the change, by opening a bookmark... and getting the 'forbidden' youtube message.
      As always, some dudes out there aren't going to be very happy :) The bad ones (plenty of bad people in this planet, unfortunately), could even buy the tutorial videos, and start sharing them, for free, in some forbidden underground places, or torrent networks ( wasn't everything closed, already many years ago?! ), as a way to 'punish' the channel owner.
      For those who will read my comment and think I am paranoid... I will just reply... internet is very cool place... people are cool and lovely... but when they aren't happy with something, the backlash can be quick and powerful. Book...videogame...story...movie... youtube...Facebook.... known people can easily go from 'I'm a star' to 'everybody wants to bash me', with no way to recover. People(sometimes) forgive, but never forget !
      Peace, guys :)

      @no name people subscribed because they liked my videos, and as you said, the ones where I teach for free. Teachers get paid don't they? Music schools are insanely expensive, and you know how many people commented over the years they learned from my channel more than from expensive courses or school? I can't count. Do you think Google pay any significant money when you have even 100K subs? One of my mixes pay almost 3 months of Google revenue, one. And it takes me 2 days or 3 at most. RUclips money is nothing. If people who like my videos so much and learn from them doesn't think $1.99 a month it then I don't know what to say, they can do whatever they want. I'm at a point in which RUclips is taking too much of my time for absolutely nothing, I don't care about notoriety, never have, and never will, especially online notoriety, it's like Monopoly money. I'm not a dentist who makes video as a passion, I'm a mix engineer who has been teaching mixing to an entire community for years for free basically. RUclips doesn't care about subscribers, cares about views, and I don't get that many, I rather have 20K members that value my work then 100K that don't, and also often ask me to do free consultations, free mixes, free studio setups all day.
      Music has been devalued immensely, and so is what I do, and one of the reasons is exactly this: free is not rewarded, it's taken for granted and devalued because it's free. And then demanded, and then god forbid of someone makes a buck? Why is so? Everyone else gets paid to do their job, don't they? The subscription price is ridiculously low, for me it doesn't change anything. And if there's gonna be a backlash as you say and torrent share of the members only videos, I'll just stop making mixing and mastering videos, is that simple, because you see? I don't HAVE to. Instead of being grateful for that all this material have been accessible for free for so long, and helped many, and my videos more than anyone else, got stolen and repeated word by word by other, bigger channels who then went and make 10x my views because they have a bigger audience but they SUCK ASS at mixing tells you something. So, it's gonna be what is gonna be. I feel betrayed if people go away, not the other way around, but also, I expect that and it doesn't really affect my livelihood.
      In my comment page while I'm replying to you there's someone asking me if I can give them an interface for free because they want to be a musician but they can't buy one. Let that sink in.
      And the remaining videos, why people watch those too? actually more than the other? Because even if I try a plugin, and i'm the goddamn only one, I find a way to teach people something, I test and demo (again, one of the few) professionally and competently units that the audience don't have the chance to try, and even then, I teach something. And then answer questions on whether or not that would be a good choice for them to buy, this is why companies work with my instead of others with bigger numbers. If people don't think that's worth half a coffee a month, and actually get mad because of it, they can go.

    • @mixbustv
      @mixbustv  3 года назад +2

      I like decap, Saturn is more versatile but for some reasons I always prefer something else. Abuser, Loc-nes, Decap, another one I've never mentioned called Contortion 24 are usually what I use for that genre, not counting hardware of course

    • @ritemindbeats3116

      @@mixbustv Thanks for the reply dude! I’ll keep that in mind. I was leaning towards Saturn because I like how it can really color the guitar tone but it seems like almost everyone prefers Decap so I may just cop that instead. Saturn seems a little overwhelming for just saturation anyway.

    This actually pisses me off to no extent! This should be an upgrade, and be free! Or at least $5! It's complete bullshit that you have to pay so much money for a program, but do not get updates to that program, when it should be standard! Look at Windows! You pay $130(or whatever you paid for it), and you get free updates and security patches for a very long time! It's been 5years already on July 15th of FREE updates! This program is more expensive that Windows 10, does about a 64th of the possibilities that Windows has! So why are we paying so much for it? It doesn't make any sense whatsoever! Stop buying this crap people! It's not worth it, at all!
