I think Stu was fruity if anything. But he does say “I always had a thing for you Sid!” Maybe Stu is bi? Maybe he’s straight? Maybe he’s just crazy?! Actually he’s sane because he knows what he’s doing is wrong he just doesn’t care.
I feel like they made it soooo obvious Billy was the killer but Stu was the shocking factor. Every time there was a murder Billy pops up. There is only so many coincidences before you begin to suspect someone.

I think that’s why this movie unnerved me so much. Like Billy had his own reasonings for it, Stu did it because he thought it was fun. He was likable, funny, and a good friend and so when you found out that he killed purely for entertainment, it was like “Jesus Christ.”
Well he did it for entertainment and peer pressure of his best friend (billy) and wanted to not seem like a whimp

It’s kinda like difference between a psychopath and a sociopath, billy is killing for revenge and because he’s not right in the head and Stu is killing because he fins the thrill entertaining, both mirroring real world narcissist but Stu comes off as more friendly throughout the movie whilst billy comes off as deranged and a little off the whole time
He didn’t do it for fun, did you even watch? He did it out of peer pressure and was afraid yet wanted to please billy. Even being more concerned with his parents opinion over the police shows how deeply influenced he was by being liked.
He's the comic relief and the killer at the same time. Legend

Stu was that dude we all grew up with who had an obsession with a cool guy like Billy. After knowing the ending and rewatching it, he does whatever Billy says and wants throughout the movie. Billy shows little to no emotion, constantly planning his next move. But even cause himself stupid in the hallway when he made a mistake. Stu makes a mistake, and Billy corrects him every time. He always tries to justify his actions too. "It's a joke," trying to get approval from Billy lol. Stu didn't even know why Billy wanted to kill Syndey or her mother. Look at the shocked look he has when Billy reveals the affair. Stu even praises Syndey, saying he had a thang for her before she kills him lmao.
I always gathered this as well. Very impressionable and easily indoctrinated. Also some fan theories he was in love with Billy.
Matthew Lillard didn't know of the motive actually..that scene was his raw reaction.

You are correct! I’m reading the script for “Scary Movie” and it’s not in the script. Also some minor changes. It’s cool to read what was originally planned and how different it turned out. Sidney actually watches her dad drive off to the airport the morning after (changed in movie because Stu totally broke in and kidnapped the dad while Billy was hooking up with Stu. We can tell because the dad’s outfit never changes)
Also there’s a great scene when Casey basically faints after Steve’s death and she turns off the patio lights to pretend as if he’s not there. It’s dark but very realistic.
Btw if you didn’t know “Scary Movie” was the working title for “Scream” hence the spoof movies are titled “scary movie”
