- A really nice interview between Indian tennis legend Vijay Amritraj and Roger Federer taken during 2009 Wimbledon for Star Sports. In the interview, Roger Federer talked about the feeling of winning the French Open, about how nervious he was before the Monfils match, about playing "opponents who have nothing to lose", and more.
Great interview. Love Vijay's work as a commentator with Alan Wilkins. I look forward to their coverage of Wimbledon as much as the tournament itself. Very different experience when I watch other commentators covering the same match.
there's so much to learn from this guy! such grace and intelligence.
What a grace. Even at that time he named other players who r on top now
I thoroughly agree with all the folk who have praised this interview.
I must confess that I don't recall ever seeing an interview conducted by Vijay before, but after this, I would love to see more. He is such a an intelligent and articulate man and he makes the whole atmosphere around the interview so relaxed. And Roger - not only the greatest player of all time (fact, not opinion), but also, one who off court is great to see and listen to. I've listened to lots of Federer interviews over the years, and have come to the conclusion that he has earned the title that was once held by the late great Arthur Ashe - 'The Thinking Man's Tennis Player'.
Roger he's fluent in quite a few languages; deserves popularity.
Very good interview!
sweet interview
excellency has to be honoured to both ...just a causal interview,. best interaction
Actually Roger Federer is now an 8 time Wimbledon Champion, winning that year in 2009, 2012 and 2017. He also added a further 4 Grand Slam Titles overall taking his total Grand Slam achievements to the magical 20.
Roger only had 5 Wimbledon titles during this interview, now he has SEVEN!!!!!
Now 8
sanch Sanchayan Now 9😉
BECAUSE HE IS GENUINE.
no preparation but still won..!
fuckin proud...gr8est of past 10 yrs = 1999-2009...suck
Nice
Vijay is from India. I thought he was from Sri Lanka.
Fed didnt thank Fodderling for stopping Nadal
federer looks so tanned here. did he go on a tanning bed before the interview? or did some of vijay amritraj's skin pigmentation rub off on him? :)
Greatest...yeah sure....i got owned regularly by one guy....but who cares...right? :))
everyone has their weaknesses..
dont be have to be so racist. prick
R F Huge Federer Fan here, supporting him since he visited India to meet the children affected by 2006 Tsunami to bring a little joy in their lives. As a person Federer is Far better than you. You got triggered and went straight to bash India and Indians. You could have countered him by so many facts and statistics available in favour of Federer being the all time great. And as far as the knowledge of english is concerned, it's just a language not a measure of Intelligence.
Just see his arrogance. I am the best for the last 10 years. But the fact is that he didnt make even one semi final in a slam between 1999-2002. Even in 2003, he won Wimbledon beating unseeded Philopoussis, but couldn't even come to quarters in any of slams.
Suddenly the mono effects have disappeared after his nemesis Nadal lost early in French open and skipped Wimbledon.
He is the weakest era vulture without a shade of doubt. LoL 😂😂😂😂
By that logic everyone's a weak era vulture.
Why did Djokovic not backout when he saw Anderson/Berettini /Kyrgios in final because they were not top 3? Do you expect Nadal to backout after seeing Puerta/Berdych/Ferrer/Anderson in final?
@@cricketcrazysanki Anderson was the fifth seed in 2018 Wimbledon and he eliminated Federer, World no.1 in quarters. Before beating Anderson, Novak, 12th seed, beat Nadal, 2nd seed in semi finals.
Similarly, Berretini was seeded No. 7 at Wimbledon, 2021. He beat Hurcakz who bageled Federer in quarters. Novak beat Shapalov, 10th seed in semi finals.
The only unseeded player Novak beat was Kyrgois. But Kyrgois came to the finals only because Nadal shied away from facing him in semi finals claiming he cannot win two matches in a row. Novak beat 9th seed Norrie in semi finals.
This is unlike Federer beating outside top 100 Philopoussis in Wimbledon 2003, 52nd ranked Bagdhdatis, Gonzalez or even Safin who was unseeded when he faced Federer. Federer also beat 28th ranked Soderling in 2009 French open. LoL 🤣🤣 In semi finals he beat players like Bjorkman, Grosjean etc., in slams.
