  • Had to get my a/c working, and when I scanned, it came up with an evap temp sensor. The sensor is in the bow bit. There is a workaround and a couple of other things to check as well. please like and subscribe 🙏. #cummins #airconditioner #dodge

I have an 2003 3500 Cummins that i am having the same issue. I believe it is the temp sensor and I was wondering how easy it is to access where the sensor plugs into wiring harness. You don't have to actually install the sensor to get the AC working but you have to shut the ac off now and again to keep the evaporator from icing up. The Viper part number is 68197590AA and plugs right in. Where is the wiring connection located? Behind the glove box?

@@gillsmotorworks I watched a video on replacing the passenger air bag and the saw the connection. Removed the lower section behind glove box to the driver's side footwell and tested the motocraft and viper option. They both worked. Motorcraft plugged in directly (no lock) and the viper didn't fit. I cut the faulty oem socket and heat shrinked a solder butt connection to the viper sensor. Then I zip tied it so it didn't rattle. AC works great. Sensor is not installed in evaporator. I will just have to be aware the evaporator might freeze up and adjust heat controls if needed.
      Thanks.

I’m havin an issue with my 03 right now and the shop that has it says it’s the evap temp sensor as well so of course I’m havin the same issue with the part not being available anymore. That one you got from Ford, did it end up plugging right in? Or did you have to modify it at all?

Check your control panel for bent pins

Ended up being the temp sensor. Only one that worked came from a 2010 Ford Focus but it plugged right in and everything’s good. Appreciate you responding
