I have my first appointment tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to it but this video has helped a lot - and I know the alternative to not having the treatment!

I have been having this done with lazer for past year or more but i cant do it without sedation if you ask about sedation they may be able to help you that way good luck and all my best for you.

@@liamkush5489 I hope your laser treatment is going well and that there are improvements. I had a laser scan and my third injection a couple of days ago and apart from 4 or 5 seconds of quite intense discomfort each time while the fluid is being pumped in, it's okay, thanks. The upshot is that there has been a vast improvement in the sight of my eye but for some reason - and I forgot to ask why, colours have changed quite a bit in that eye, such that I see deep yellow as white, a normal white light now looks like those LED headlights you see on cars, red is now pink and green is a sort of turquoise!
In the waiting area, I sat next to an elderly lady who was in for her 30th injection and she has Wet AMD in both eyes and unfortunately, for some reason they can't use laser treatment on her. Again though, like me, she realises the alternative to not having the injections.

Thank you Dr. Anderson, you are doing a great job with your team! I am going through that same problem and awaiting for my injection and hopefully will regain my eyesight. I'm only 45 years old and suffering from a Wet AMD due to high blood pressure.

I'm supposed to get this done and I'm nervous as heck. I have no fear of needles really, but freak out when anything comes near my eyes. I can barely do eye drops, I don't let people touch my eyes. I don't know how I'm going to make it through this. EDIT- UPDATE PLEASE READ. Okay I did it and it looks far far worse than it actually is. First of all I was afraid of the clamps, but trust me you do not feel them at all! You blink as normally because it's reflex, your eyes don't even know they are there. They numb and clean your eye well before the shot, and the shot itself you don't see. It stung a little but not bad. So take it from me it looks a lot worse than it actually is.

Had it done today. Everything they say in the video is true. Especially the grittiness 424 hours. Not allowed to put any eye drops in your eye or rub your eye for 24 hours. That's the tough part

  • @sarahmccoy1941

is there a reason why dilation drops are used during this procedure? I understand the need for numbing drops.
I have heard that Betadine is used to sterilize the area. Does this not cause the eye to burn once the numbing agent wears off?
Also, what happens if you strike a blood vessel with the needle? Might that cause blood turn the white of the eye red?
Why are technicians or nurses doing the injections instead of a doctor? Though I am sure they are good people and trained, they are not doctors.
What happens if a mistake is made? Would it entail being hospitalized?

I have a fear of needles every time I get an injection I feel sick afterwards it can last a few hours. I've had 11 injections between both eyes and can say I felt sick for days after. with that said the injections aren't bad only twice have I had pain due to a lack of numbing drops, still hate them. Once I did have my vision go all white and for about 30-45 seconds couldn't see a thing in the eye.
Overall the injections have helped my eyesight.

I get headaches for up to 24 hrs after getting the injection. My eyes are extremely sensitive to light & have blurred vision for 1-2 days. My doctor gives iodine drops so I find that can cause my eyes to burn after as well. (She does rinse it out after the shot).

Saaaame. I had laser surgery for glaucoma and they didn't numb me. Torture.
A needle in the eye that can cause retina detachment, cataracts etc no thanks. I got diagnosed with MMD late so I've already lost vision. It's just not worth it. If they had caught it early maybe.
