We have a WEEK of livestreams coming up and it's just 5 days away!! A new location every single day! Every area selected by the Patreon crew (Thanks everyone!)

Would it be an idea to have a second camera just recording while live streaming. Use an insta360 Go to record and main camera for streaming? That way you have some footage to fill in the stream drops later on? Or too much work?

the weather you talked about here, I live in a spot like that. the saying is "wait 5 minutes and the weather might change" and the weather station is often only accurate up to 48 or 72 hours from present. there's also a little ridgeline that is significant just enough to drive most nasty thunderstorms north of us and the water to the south kind of protects us, too. watching the dopplar radar and guessing what the weather or storms will be like is always fun for me. lol

I'd like to think it was an intentional move and not just coincidence. When those kids walking to school came into frame and you noticed it. You spun around to show the rest of the scenery instead of getting the kids in the shot. Great work Norm.

I prefer a mixture of recorded and live. Recorded is more peaceful and clear whereas live is more immediate and I pay more attention to chat. The beautiful places appear better in recorded. But, I love the late night-early morning chats and touring places like the love hotel.

  • @BornAdventurer

SInce I don't engage much in the livestreams, I really like this format because the quality is so much better and easier to see the beauty in the environments and it feels the same, good job on that!

That ivy-covered house is definitely some sort of gateway to another realm - mystical af. Re the videos, given that this channel is meant to be about the livestreams and interaction between you and the viewers, maybe stay true to that. Looking at view count, maybe the pre-recorded 4K videos are more popular (could also be the algorithm shafting the streams lol), but whichever content you find more enjoyable to make and keeps you from burning out for longer would be the best tbh. Love ya work mate

I'm not going to be of much help because I do enjoy both, the pre-recorded and the live ones alike. In any case, as some other people already said, the greener, more spectacular places look amazing in 4k, and town walks where you take backstreets and go through unexpected roads is awesome live (particularly now that I know what is to experience it live since I finally managed to catch one on time).

I prefer the pre-recorded version. Looks better and that is so nice when you are in such interesting places. Sometimes even though the stream is 720, the quality is even less than that when you go into an area with bad reception. Live streams are fun, but for exploring these cool places, I definitely want to be able to see it clearly.

You definitely lucked out with the weather. I find that these walks early in the morning are great, especially when there are no people around. These types of 4k videos have the best quality, as opposed to the 720p live stream video. You never know what you are going to get with them.

  • @bradtuttle2674

While I like the feel of a live stream it is nice having the improved picture quality, it feels more like you're actually there. I think it might depend on the location, places with nice scenery where being able to see clearly at long distances would be better in this format whereas this kind of location would be fine live.

  • @MageThief
    @MageThief 3 года назад +1

I like both format but if I have to chose i enjoy these high quality ones the best. Much more details in the surroundings and that is what is my priority.
Yeah the backstreets are the best in Japan, the narrower the better, there is something exciting over them.
You could do these kind of walk and talk in Tokyo as well, just each time pick an area around a station.
I spent hours walking around Asakusa when I lived there, later on when I lived in Saitama I did the same. I lived the longest in the northern part of Setagaya-ku in Tokyo and walked all over that area, some walks where 1 hour one way, just randomly walking away from home.
When I lived in Kitakami up in Iwate I loved to explore that area, had lots of green areas to enjoy and the walk along the Kitakami river is just beautiful.

  • @mionka96

Out of all the exploring videos I always love the ones with quiet back alleys and roads. You usually find amazing places, like that house covered with vines. It feels really relaxing to just watch someone go through the more out there places and not the busy streets. I love all the "walk with me" videos but there is something special about the rural areas that make any video more interesting to me.

It's always fun to watch walking videos like these. The place is pretty and it makes me miss going outside lol. I enjoy any video you make whether it's pre-recorded or live (although there's a chance I'd miss the live).
By the way, answers to the chat questions: I live in the Philippines. While there are anime events happening at malls here, I couldn't go to them cause I don't have money lol (the entrance fees have gotten higher than when I first went years ago). The only local event I could afford to go to now is the Manila International Book Fair (because there's an option to just print out free tickets) cause I love books. There is another smaller event always going on at the same time with the MIBF though as they're at the same area and it's called Pop Hub Comic Splash x Fandom Fest where instead of books, they have artist alleys and panels/performances related to fandom on stage. They even use the same ticket.
Before the price hike though, I used to attend Ozine Fest (an anime event) when I could but that was years ago.

Japan's health care system recognizes "nature therapy" as a legitimate therapy method. Due to this prefectures and cities maintain nature preserves as a way for residents to get away from their day today. Living near Hiroshima and Yamaguchi we found dozens of campsites that were free or no one ever had us pay so long as it wasn't during busy seasons.

So far behind in watching resent videos, but I am glad I found some time recently to watch. Love the area and all the old architecture. I have mixed feelings on the livestream vs the premier. I like the interaction of the live video, but prerecorded videos such as this one are nice and I feel less left out when not able to view the premier. I just watched your Unnamed Adventure series as well as the Shamisen shop videos the other day. My memory isn't good and I didn't connect either video to the area. Thanks for sharing your time in Japan with us.

I enjoy the live streams but I REALLY LOVE the pre recorded walks. I too was sad about the poor quality of video in the live stream. This, however, is PERFECT. It's so sharp, so clear, I actually feel more like I'm there with you in the pre recorded than the live streams. It's somehow more "real", if that makes sense. Just due to the image quality. Also, I completely get it about abandoned places. They are beautiful and poignant.

I prefer the pre-recorded ones (at least for now) because:
    1. If I'm busy i can't watch it live anyway.
    2. The highly compressed YT 720p video is definitely not doing justice (for your great content). You give us so much... and Japan has definitely a s**t ton to give visually 😁
    3. I think you know your crowd pretty well and show us anyway things we wanted to see or couldn't even imagine that it existed.
I think to mix it up would be the right way to go. Real live streams and pre-recorded.
50/50 maybe... i probably would more likely even suggest 60% pre-recorded 40% live.
Of course just my opinion 👋🏻🤓

Sorry I'm late on this one. I was busy trying to watch one of Victor's streams (costs of the Tokaido trip) and they're 4-5 hours long! It took me two days to finish it on VOD!
Did you notice the water sprinklers in the middle of the street that they use to melt the snow in the winter?
Also my family friend in Toyama told me most of the town was bombed flat in WWII and it's all "new." That's why the roads are laid out in a sensible grid.

That house covered in plants looked incredible!! Would have loved to have seen the inside and see how much nature has made it their home. This area also seems so peaceful, could be the time of day though.

30:35 even with the industry mix, this place is gorgeous.

As much as i like the live vids, like you said, we can't really appreciate the scenery at 720p :(

I love the very long street that you can see down for so long. I don't see that here in Tennessee

It's really hard to choose, but I'm going to have to go with the livestreams. While I love the quality of 4k, the interaction we get with the livestreams is more appealing.

I love the 4k walks. The detail we get to see helps with sharing your energy, joy and enthusiasm.

I like both styles for their own reasons, livestreaming allows for chat interaction and being able to ask you to go places that chat finds interesting, while recording lets you capture the real beauty of the area. I don't know how manageable it would be but it would be cool if you did both at the same time and then later took the audio from the livestream and video from the recording and combined them into one (then deleted the livestream and left the new video up in it's stead)
