Thanks!! That’s awesome man. I honestly don’t remember. They ripped super early and they were cheap. Comfortable but super thin and I don’t use them anymore. I got them off revzilla though
Awesome video I plan on getting this kit come spring! I run a 14tooth on my modded grom (stock bore) and I can tell you now you’re going to bounce off the limiter with a 13tooth in 4th gear (I can now and weigh 220) lol.
Lol I’m gonna put a video up soon on it but I wound up going back to the stock gearing. The 13t accelerated fast but same top speed so not worth the higher rpms
Man!! watched all your videos on the grom builds!! Good stuff!! You inspired me on the exhaust and handle bars. Got them installed. Can't wait for your next video!!! Waiting for the DYNO Tune!
@@RidinDad Nooooooo!!! I thought you were going to finish a full build on the grom, was waiting on the stretch kit, lowering kit and more good stuff!! Your videos are well detailed and made it easy for a lot of people and that's including me, but its all good though, still love these videos. Keep it going sir!
I was kinda done with the build. Honestly I would never do stretch or a lower kit on any bike. Takes away all the good things bikes are capable of LOL. I sold it because of where I live and my schedule. I didn’t have a ton of time to ride anymore and when I did ride I wanted long rides. Grom wasn’t good that in my area so I sold and put the money in to some Harley stuff
I think the kit you got is sold out and I can’t even get my tag till the 19th .. so I been riding it around my area which is not to bad . Because I have a huge open area by the water park
Yeah the dmv’s are crazy booked right now it sucks. I had to schedule an appointment for some thing a few weeks ago and they were like two weeks out. It’s insane. It sucks that the kit is sold out. They’re pretty good about restocking so I will just keep posting on it and if you really want it I think you’ll be able to get it pretty soon
I know this video is a couple months old so you may not see this. But my 186 grom preformed exactly the same as yours when my timing was a tooth off. Might be worth taking the inspection plugs and cover off and seeing if it’s off. Before my timing was fixed I could only do 60 on flat ground. After I’m capable of doing 83 miles an hour on flat ground and it pulls hard all the way until 72-73.
@@RidinDad I have a 186 DHM kit and mine was behaving similarly to yours. I would get up to 60 and run out of juice. There was this weird hesitation around 7k rpm. It just did not feel right. I found out that my exhaust was too restrictive and when I got a new one I was able to reach 75mph on stock gearing (without tucking). I will order 16t front sprocket and see if I can get few more miles.
Glad it worked out for you!! I have the least restrictive exhaust I know of: the v&h hooligan. The header is even wider than most other exhaust. So who knows man
Do you think the top speed is limited by the low power and small engine size, or is there a governor preventing a higher speed? Nice vid, love the detail......and the killer music. 😄 Not sure why people gotta hate.
Lol who knows man, thank you! And I don’t know truthfully....I would believe if there was a governor of any sort it would have been removed when I switched out the ecu for the tuned one from DHM. Could also just be my air filter not allowing enough air for the engine to breath too honestly.
@@RidinDad yeah, I'm not too sure about a governor if there is one, just curious. I had a POS Chinese enduro a while back. Hit the governor on the highway and it scared the shit outta me haha. Looking forward to your future vids. Groms look like a blast. Would love to get one someday.
Removed my original comments here as I have determined them to be incorrect/irrelevant. Decided to not delete the post entirely so that the followup comments could be retained
Can’t see anything weird going on with mine. Timing is spot on. Everything else was good and ran great. Loads of torque over stock. I’ve talked to several guys that have the dhm kit and their experience is in line with mine. I knew what to expect pretty much buying it. Could also be changed by what cam you throw in it too I’m sure
@@RidinDad Yea I went to the DHM site and I can see that they make no claims other than just increased power (torque) so your results are likely accurate. I think I will delete my comments as they are incorrect/irrelevant.
This is not a benelli so I can’t tell you for sure everything but typically you can leave stock intake even though an aftermarket would perform better. Ecu for sure needs an update abs sprockets your can always leave stock
That’s strange, I seen some vids where people don’t do big bore kits, but add a cam.. and they can get near 70… I wonder if the big bore kit plays a role staying stuck at 60 vs a cam.. I saw one guy got around 72 miles an hour, with the cam, and downsized sprocket by 1.. So I was trying to see what a cam with a 17 would do… but nonetheless still very interesting maybe a cam is better for me lol
the reason for this, is that with the stock head, the big bores get choked off past 7k rpm, and make minimal power past 7k. to fix this, people buy ported heads and 34mm throttle bodies
Are Harley riders not nice there? In oregon they don't do the wave 2 any bikes unless they are Harley.... I have a grom a cbrr1000 and Aprilia 450 vtwin
It’s 50/50. I honestly think the majority of it is because we have a ton of very old people on Harley’s and they simply don’t pay attention to anything besides what’s directly in front of them sadly
I dont understand arent you supposed to show us the top speed after changing sprockets? that's the main purpose of upgrading the procket with more teeth.
@@RidinDad I got a question , I hope you can answer me ,I bought a new bike 125 5 gears. I noticed that in first gear when I give It a lot of throttle the revs would go higher but I don't feel the bike picking up well , like when i had a 110cc in first gear the bike would almost try to wheelie. and when I downshit It makes a strong engine break. but this new 125cc It doesnt do an effective engine breaking nor you feel the jump or pick up.long story short Revs go very high but bike speed catch up slow. could It be the clutch needs adjustment ?
Without knowing more about the bike like if it’s EFI or carbureted, or new or used or any other details about it yeah, it sounds like the simplest reason would be that the clutch is slipping. Could be worn out rings or loose springs
Sounds like the motor is topped out no matter what. I don’t know what kind of boar set up you have but the only reason I even attempted this is because I had the 186. With a stock people are actually getting higher top speeds gearing down one in the front because they can actually use all of the little horsepower
"popping wheelies too easy" on a grom? gtfo lmao, i have the same kit, the stock gearing is too long stock, good with the kit, but i still run a -1 up front, +1 in the back for better torque
@@RidinDad grom aint made for the highway, using the bbk and lower gearing just makes the grom way more functional in its natural habitat, and more fun to ride
Had my 186 kit for 2 years now. Hae to adjust the valves every now and Then. It's a torque monster and hangs With cr250s
Oh of course. Yeah it’s very peppy!!
Another great video my friend👍 question, what is the best GROM forum to get on? I can’t seem to find any current ones. Thanks in advance.
Thank you! 👊🏻 if you have fb there’s a dozen on there all pretty good and many posts per day. Other than that I haven’t used any forumns for it yet :/

You have stock lights in the front or something extra wired off the high beam?

Hi Chris,
Hello….
Y don’t you just go down to a 16 in sprocket and see how it does!
I didn’t feel like it would make a difference too much if the 17 behaved like it did honestly
Be a damn wheelie machine with my 14t lol I'm getting the kit. Sure it will power wheelie easy.
Gonna kick a rod lugging it like rhat
I’m not lugging it?
So I went from 14 tooth to a 17 tooth front sprocket and lost 15 to 20 mph top end why is that?
Probably doesn’t have enough HP to actually use the e tended gearing
@@RidinDad that's the weird thing because it will be red lined in 4th and not even try to gain speed even going down a fairly steep hill.
