Monique, your absolutely right. It’s the most amazing experience ever having a sweet baby walking towards you. I had my first child when I was 34, and now he’s 24 and still says “ I love you more “ 🥺 but because he’s with the USMC we’re going on our 4th year not able to see each other for the holidays. The memories I cherish close to my heart ♥️. Sending you and your husband a very special Holiday Season and a lifetime of joy. Blessings
My husband and I never had children. I couldn't carry. So, we have children that I'm looking forward to meeting one day in Heaven. ❤️
It's been a good full life and my nephews and nieces have benefited greatly but we also were able to bless so many ppl in so many ways that we would never have been able to do if we had been blessed with children.
Still, I know that desire and I'm praying for God to bless you with healthy laughing children. Try not to worry about it. I know it's hard when others have babies and showers and so forth. Oh, that newborn baby smell still gets me and I'm 60 yrs old!

I love calendars! I purchase one every year from Dogwood Animal Rescue Project. I think a photo of the cats and gardens would be awesome.

chickens, too! a calendar is a terrific idea!!! it would take into account the passing thru of the pets and others that we enjoy so much. a calendar wouldn't even have to focus on gardening because there would be plants everywhere anyway. maybe they will put the idea on their list to consider. it wouldn't even have to have notes on it, just a wall calendar and creature pictures!!!

Really like the upscale natural look. Just a thought, after Christmas some resale shops may have the very expensive trees with damage to the very bottom. Laura could use the tops of them in place of these next year.. just a thought.

Samantha's excitement over Russell was everything!!! It looked like she tried to kiss him as he slid by. He was very tolerant of her affection but that kitty loves his mama. As a cat lover, this made my heart swell.
Adding a note here, at the end when you mentioned finding an open tree, just know that it's possible to make your own with a real tree. I do so every year. When we go tree shopping, I look for one that's very full with somewhat even layers of branches. Then, when we get it home I get to work trimming it to my specifications, which are open layers with room to show off my ornaments. I've been collecting ornaments for almost fifty years, so I've had to develop a strategy to show them off to best advantage. I decorate my tree from the inside out, starting with lots of lights. Then, I place ornaments close to the trunk so it looks like there's a column of them, top to bottom. I continue placing ornaments all along the length of the branches, moving outward. By the time I'm done, most branches have at least five ornaments lining their length, and I still have some leftover. So, until you find an artificial tree to suit your taste, just know that with a little judicious trimming you can modify a real one. Be careful not to trim too much. It's hard to get started trimming but once you get going, you may find it all too easy to go too far. Ask me how I know. Your mantel is lovely. Merry Christmas! ~ Lisa

I love that there are cars on the floor and kids in and out. Samantha’s excitement over Russel was precious. Life is messy but it is real. I have painted several fireplaces for clients to get the orange out but keeping the stone real. When I win the lottery to come spend a week in your garden, I can make the fireplace gray!

I had one of those ugly pencil Christmas trees just sitting in our attic for yrs, so this year I cut and dried flowers from my flower beds and yard all through the seasons and saved them. Daffodils to hydrangeas, zinnias, sunflowers, roses, dahlias, rose of sharon flowers, mums, lambs ear etc etc and even the dried stalks from my day lillies. I got down that old tree and did a dried flower Christmad tree. 🎄😍I have to say its the most beautiful tree I've ever seen in all my life. I can't convey in words.. People that see it are literally amazed. I would recommend all gardeners try this project. At least once! Its like.. All our loving hard work throughout the year with our own grown flowers on display in the winter. Its a masterpiece! Haha

@@Ibis333 Omgoodness, i wish i could!!! I dont have any social media accts. I spend enough time on youtube as it is. LOL
But, I started with my white bobo hydrangeas and put them around the tree like a spiral and then individually filled in around them with all the other flowers. So the spiral is thick. I took the dried day lilly stalks and poked a few outward further than the rest of the flowers... and then for the topper, I took one huge white panicle from my hydrangea tree that dried outdoors naturally..and put my dried lambs ear all around it as if a boquet. Haha It reminds me of a upside down pineapple. Haha I hope this gives you some sort of visual. We have a old hydrangea bush thats at least 40 yrs old.. we inherited it when we moved here. And for the first time, it bloomed blue this summer. So those are also tucked in. Most of my flowers were white, pink, purple, and yellow with touches of blue. I even dried coral bells. I decided last winter to do this for this Christmas and my closets and cabinets had been a hot mess all yr... i almost abandoned my project several times but im soooooo glad I pushed onward. 😍 I would gladly email you if you wanted haha

Although every year the mantle looks amazing, this year's is my favorite. It fits the uniqueness of your home perfectly. It is so welcoming and cozy. Love seeing them children playing and enjoying life. I miss the days of cars lined up in the living room. Time passes so fast, enjoy every minute of their youth.

I was explaining the beginning of this video to my husband…..Laura’s trying to decorate the mantle while Benjamin has ALL the cars, Samantha is mobile!!!! and chasing the cat, and her sister in law is over. 😀. We are empty nesters, and we both just smiled and said “that’s what Christmas is all about”. That kind of young family chaos is precious. My family laughs at me because I tear up so easily, and I am very sentimental. I just feel so blessed to have a life that includes them, and all the wonderful memories they’ve given me. The 'moss' on the branches is really fun. Actually, a type of filamentous algae called Trentepohlia. Probably associated with the occasional branch wetting from the snow and melt events your area has been having. Such a fun color!

Love the simplicity & classic look of the mantle. I would remove the lamps so that the emphasis are on the two lit trees - so that the vertical interests are not competing with each other. The kids are adorable. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
