    I freaked put when I bought two emerald crabs. I have a small colony. But you know, he was just cleaning the algae and detritus. They look better than ever.

    "Bytor" is probably a reference to the song "Bytor and the Snow Dog", by the rock band Rush. If you like rock music, check out Rush. They're a real treat!

    Don’t fear emerald crabs. He went after the glue because it most likely caught air and the crab mistook the glue for bubble algae. This is why he threw the polyps away.

    So I know this is an older video I saw your videos about zoanthids and polys and I was just asking when I take it out of the water will they spray that crap into my house

    • @melevsreef

      No, even if you squeezed them you wouldn't see a cloudy gas come out. It would be a liquid stream like it is peeing, at most. And if that happened, as long as it didn't get in your mouth or eyes, you are safe and can just clean up the area with normal cleaning products. Just be cautious around them, rather than reckless. :)

    Hi Steve, I've got a good number of different kinds of zoas. That was my focus this last Reefapalooza April 2018 in Orlando. I was able to find and by the WWC Purple Monsters, Purlpe Deaths, Rastas, Magicians and my prized Salted Agaves. I was able to buy a polyp of each and they are slowly growing I have for 5 polyps of each one except the Salted Agave that one I've only been able to get 3 more polyps out of it. I have other little no-names that are pretty ones too. I have Utter chaos which are going wacko crazy with growth. I mean they've quadrupled or more in size since I bought them in an LFS down here where I'm at in Fort Lauderdale and from one polyp many many years ago which was the most expensive PALY at the time $40 that I had ever bought until this Reefapalooza, was one yellow Nuclear Death paly. From that one polyp I now have 3 completely separate groups that are growing and growing and growing. Now I have a 125 with a lot of rock with chalices, war corals and other LPS/SPS corals....but yeah, it takes a lot of them to fill up spots. The one problem that I'm having is some of the Magicians and The Salted Agaves. Sometimes it seems that their polyps bend over backwards, not so much like a penis but like a mushroom or umbrella. That's what they look like to me and I don't know if they're actually being bothered by something because I look a lot and I do take out a lot of asterina starfish out of my tank because of the zoas. (I am always looking for them) I've only had one situation where I removed a nudibranch. But never again saw another. But I can't wait to see full little gardens of zoanthids in my tank.

    Hi ive been looking into liquid phosphate removers and seen you been using phosphate rx.I'm curious about the change from phosphate Rx to phosban L you mentioned in your app peramiters.

    • @melevsreef
      @melevsreef  5 лет назад

      They both work equally well. Keep in mind when you look at my parameters that I share, that's the number at the time of the testing, prior to me making any changes. So the overall trend of phosphate will almost always be a higher number, because after I see the result I decide if I want to do anything about them, or not.

      @@melevsreef Thanks for the reply I always enjoy your videos. One more question I must of watched a billion videos on liquid phosphates maybe I missed this part I don't know lol but do you remove your socks after dosing or do you just keep it in.

    • @melevsreef
      @melevsreef  5 лет назад

      These products are recommending that you use a 10micron sock, but I rarely do, perhaps because I’m not dosing at maximum strength. If you want to be safe, use the super fine sock. I sell Phosphate Rx and the 10m socks on my site.

    Is it true if they die in your tank it'll kill everything else also

  • @lonestarpatriot876
    @lonestarpatriot876 5 лет назад +1

    Got rid of my Zoas. They simply have too many problems with too many possible fixes.
    More importantly, I run a clean mixed reef tank that everything else thrives in. They may like dirty water but if I allow them to get that dirty water, I inevitably get algae outbreaks which they also do not like. I keep my Nitrates below 5 and my Phosphate at mostly undetectable levels. If I go over that, the inevitable algae blooms come.
