  • This video will show another option for using a CMC LEVR system to rescue multiple victims, (simulated by using sandbags) as well as the Rescuer themself. In this UPDATED video we will demonstrate another method where the Rescuer's primary descender DOES NOT have to be used in a "reverse deployment" mode. This method is more efficient and faster than a technique we demonstrated in a previous video.

I like the idea. Can we see it done using mannequins instead of sandbags?

It's a great question and I'd have to save to this point never - Unfortunately most Firefighters in the USA, much less the rest of the world don't carry these types of systems. The ones that do typically only train on self rescue and not on how to use their system for victim rescue. I've been carrying and teaching the use of these systems since the late 1990's and to date I know of only one case where firefighters used their system to help rescue a civilian and it was not only successful, but heroic as well. Reqardless on how rare it might be, in my opinion if Firefighters carry these systems they should train on them to their full capability - After all we're in the business of saving lives and I want all the options I can have at my disposal to do so.

@DALEGPEKEL it's a great system. I just don't see much actual saves or in use.

      @@DALEGPEKEL sorry for late reply.
They all survived but two firefighters were seriously injufed. They are the last to escape to rescue five civilians.
On the occasion of this incident, administration gave Korea rescue team to personal escape equipments.
This fire broke out on March 11, 2017 in Wonhyo-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

The sandbags he lowered first represent two trapped civilian victims.

The entry clip was simply there to set the stage for what followed in the video - The Firefighter who also fell did not have a system or any other option. Understand that carrying these types of systems doesn't guarantee you will be able to rescue any or all trapped victims in a similar situation, but having one and training on it to its full capabilities can increase your chances dramatically more than not carrying one at all.

You obviously know nothing about these systems or their history - I've trained and taught the use of these systems since the late 1990's and in that time I've trained and consulted for firefighters and departmants across the globe on their use and deployment options. If you really want to learn more, do your research - I have over 40 videos on my page/channel alone that cover nearly every aspect of them and YES, videos that use actual people as the victims. This was just a quick demo as we didn't have the available personnel and belay equipment to shoot a video with actual simulated victims.

@@DALEGPEKEL You Obviously don’t do 5000-8000 calls a years. I’m a retired FDNY Lieutenant with 24 years experience and worked in busy companies including Rescue 2. I was injured during 9/11. The reason why the FDNY doesn’t use a system like yours is because when the shit hits the fan ( when the room lights up ) you don’t have time for that and it takes 4 guys to lift a 200 pound victim. It’s easy to get your little bags with NO ARMS or LEGS out that window with perfect conditions and lighting. My tag isn’t my real name. Now you know WHO you’re talking to. Good luck with your system.

@@rebeccastone3301 Well Brother it speaks volumes when you use a fake name - Just an FYI: I've rode with FDNY multiple times, in both Queens and Brooklyn and I'm VERY familiar with your department. I've taught the use of these systems before your department even carried your Petzl system - Even before "Black Sunday" and the incident in the Bronx that caused FDNY to put your current system in place, we were teaching how a single system could be used to rescue more than one FF in rapid succession. Yes, in many situations you will only have seconds to get out - So self rescue is all you can hope for - However if you're as experienced as you say you are you also know that there are MANY variables in a fire and you can have a significant amount of time to before you need to bailout with the gear we have today - As compared to the time an "unprotected" civilian has or a fellow FF who has run out of air. I have over 40 videos on these systems on my channel - Before you criticize the one you watched with sand bags take a look at the others with live FFs and 225 lb. dead weight training manikins. Just curious; Have you even tried using your Petzl system for victim rescue? - I have, as well as most of the other sytems that are currently available. The Petzl EXO is decent, as is its anchor hook, but neither provide the same versatility as other descenders and anchor hooks that are out there. I've put my real name out there for years on RUclips, Facebook and multiple other social media sites - I post and share what I do not to offend others, but to help our fellow Brothers and Sisters be better and safer at their job - I do this because my Dad lost two friends and fellow FFs at a fire he was at and I've had a share of closs calls myself as well as other friends and colleagues of mine. You guys are more fortunate than most - Having 5 FFs on an Engine and 6 on a Truck or Rescue gives you a lot more capability than most FDs in the country, but even so you should appreciate having options and being able to adapt - That's what a lot of the videos I produce and post have to do with.......Now you know a little about me and who you're talking to. May God bless and keep you and the FDNY safe - Good day.

@@DALEGPEKEL I purposely use a fake tag to see the responses I get. If you want to keep this respectful I strongly suggest you back off.
Black Friday … if you listen closely to the radios while watching the video… the Roof Men ( who should have had the Life Rope ) already on the roof and the BC don’t respond to the MayDay. The fire 🔥 was already burning them. That’s why they ( all 6 ) jumped. FDNY RESCUES 1-5 use the ROLLGLISS SYSTEM. You can’t use it, like your system, inside a burning apartment. Like I said, “Good Luck.”
