This compilation is great because it PROVES he's not the meek, injured puppy that everyone makes him out to be. He just became more and more sarcastic the more he had to /deal/ with Hannibal. Amazing.
I don't think most make him out to be a meek injured puppy. He has never been meek - quite the opposite. He always was abrasive and antisocial. In season one, he was just very *very* scared, but mostly of himself. I don't think anyone could blame him for that. By season two he just learned to play like a weasel, not like a dog. He's terrifyingly cold, smart, and cunning. More than Hannibal, I would say.
yeah i think the encephalitis (which was probably affecting him for the majority of season 1) left him wayyy more vulnerable than he usually would let himself be. in seasons 2 and 3 he is cunning and manipulative, and he only really lets people see what he wants them to. definitely not an injured puppy i agree haha

Everyone always praises Mads for his Hannibal (and rightly deserved) BUT I think Hugh Dancy deserves a HELL OF A LOT MORE love and respect for his performance of Will. In the wrong hands, this character could have gone VERY wrong but Hugh was just smashing and created one of the most interesting and intense characters on tv (and SASSY LOL). Still one of my favorite lines from this series is in S2E8 when Will calmly asks “Peter....is your social worker in that horse 🐴?” LMAO 🤣 I don’t know how anyone could say that line with a straight face 😐 ...and the last 5 minutes of this show is absolute perfection...the music was fantastic and the killing almost seemed like a dance...the love was real...is it wrong of me to root for Will and Hannibal to become “murder husbands”?

He had such an incredible character arc, what's interesting is that in the episode where he ends up resuming therapy he takes on his very own person suit and while we see parts of the old will when he's with molly. Unlike Hannibal he never truly takes off that person suit ever again. You see him be fed up once molly is in danger but the second he's safe he seems to lose himself in hannibal again.
It's actually quite the opposite, who he is with Molly is the person suit, his attempt at normality, and who he is with Hannibal is who he actually is, all darkness within him embraced and recognized. He tells Chiyoh in season 3 "I've never known myself as well as I know myself when I'm with him (re: Hannibal)"

If Dolarhyde truly had killed himself Will would likely have never seen Hannibal again. But once they are together and kill Dolarhyde he seemingly gives into the reality that Hannibal is like a drug he's now ever going to be able to give up and is the reason why he tries to kill both himself and Hannibal right after.

I think my favorite thing you start to notice out of the series is that the characters that are aware of Chilton's incompetence tend to call him "Frederick" unless they want something from him, while the people that trust him call him "Dr. Chilton".
