Glad your ok, he barely flick that but the big power plopper stuck, glad you both stayed calm, anytime you panic things can get worse, easy to say from the comments, but always something i tell myself not to panic
As a kid in TN, we lived in a small town with one elderly doctor. Casting a crankbait, I hooked my brother behind his ear with two hooks on the back treble hook. Thinking I was stuck on the boat I yanked two times to free it before he screamed. And then I realized what I had done. In the doctor's office he had no tools for the job, so he sent me across the street to the hardware store to get him a pair of dykes. He numbed my brother and pushed both hooks through this ear and cut off the barbs. Accidents do happen and I am so glad you didn't lose an eye!
Yeah. We had nothing in the boat strong enough to cut that particular hook. Otherwise I’d have saved the co-payment. An all around good time !
Ouch! I seldom fish at night but this incident has me thinking. When I rode my Harley at night I used to wear clear glasses that also protected the sides of my eyes. Just a thought, specially with multiple people in the boat. We wear sunglasses in the day that also helps protect the eyes but really don’t think too much about it at night. I know it was a painful experience but so thankful it wasn’t in the eye.
I'm not sure if this had happened during daylight if it would've been any different. But, regardless, accidents simply happen. I am very thankful as well that it wasn't my eye.
