Thank you for this conversation. While listening to the topic of social media and vanity I decided to remove my RUclips profile photo, all the selfies on Instagram and turn off the comments under each post. Extreme? Maybe. But it's a nice feeling and I'm actually smiling. For context, I'm a photographer and the need for validation is scary. It's when we're sober minded that we remember our value isn't set by another person's opinion of us, nor is it defined by likes and attention. Our value isn't even determined by what we may or may not have accomplished (not that any achievements can be claimed as our own, it's His goodness). The fact that God loves us so much that He sent Jesus to die for sins, is incredibly telling of how much He cherishes us and how much we mean to him; that in and of itself should be all the validation we need. And since He Who is perfect and unchanging treasures us that much, then it actually doesn't matter what we who are imperfect and inconsistent think about each other
