Just used this last week. The whole process took 2 whole minutes...and that was the 4 people in front of us. The actual scanning was about 40 seconds. Then getting our bags was 90 minutes. The tax is not checked. No one asks if you paid it. I did not pay

Also important, please don't show aggression. We went last December, and so many people were being aggressive, we saw the same people that were aggressive being screened through security. Not sure why people have to be aggressive, but take a deep breathe and relax, traveling is stressful enough for some.
Flew here last month. Arriving in cancun was a nightmare for our first time travelling. Also children are not allowed to use E gates. Only one line is E Gates. Be prepared to wait a long time for you checked even after standing in line for an hour or more. Departure from Cancun was a much better experience.
They're called E gates. I understand there is a QR code on the receipt you get. You're supposed to scan the QR code with your phone and it takes you to a website that has an electronic form you need to fill out. I've heard the system isn't fully implemented yet, though, and, last i heard, they're not even asking to see your receipt on your return trip.
I'm here now. I have the receipt from the E gates as I entered. I have tried to scan the QR code but it takes me to a website that says Service is temporarily unavailable. The Welcome To Mexico Important And Mandatory Notice receipt says you MUST scan the code but it is not working for me. Any other ideas ?
Great video! Is this the same for all of the terminals? We're coming in on a charter, which I think will be in Terminal One. Are these the same gates no matter which terminal one arrives at? Or, the same TYPE at each terminal? Because I've also read that custom forms are required at Terminal 2, but not the others. But one encounters customs AFTER going through these gates?
No. It's not the same in all terminals. I don't know if Terminal One has kiosks. You will go through immigration, claim your bags, and then go through customs.

Please clarify using the immigration line “all the way to the left.” I meet all the criteria, U.S. citizen etc. But after a few days in Cancun will be traveling on to Colombia, not returning to the U.S. just yet. Am I able to still use that line?

@@TripswithAngie you might want to clarify what you are commenting about the departure tax is included in our airline ticket for most U.K. operators there has also been an environmental tourist tax has been in place since April 21 it was not a legal requirement and on my 2 trips since then I have never been asked to pay it or show anything to say it was payed wasn’t trying to avoid it maybe it’s changed now and they have set up actual processes
@@michelleg-7 The tax has been a legal requirement since it was enacted. It is not included in any nationality's ticket. It is also different from the environmental tax. It is a departure tax that must be paid through the website shown in the video. The fact you've chosen to break the law and got away with it does not mean that law does not exist.
@@michelleg-7The one on your ticket is federal tax. The one online is state tax for cancun. This is only if you depart from Cancun airport. For example let's say you arrived at Cancun airport but depart on to Mexico City Airport. You don't have to pay departure tax because it's only at the state level. The state departure tax isn't enforced as of now.
It depends on where your passport is from. If it is a US or Canadian passport, that's true. You may be asked to see the QR code confirming you paid the Visitax.

I am also generally very respectful of the laws of foreign countries. 1 million people could say they were never asked for a receipt. And 100 bloggers could say don't worry about it. And then one day, you show up at the airport and they are enforcing it and then it's a big problem. I think you should at least know you are breaking a law.
I think it is pretty nasty and dangerous to make such a terribly wrong and misleading guide. What you are saying is simply wrong. I went through customs and migration yesterday and it was pretty much the worst experience I have ever had. You are claiming they are occasionally screening your luggage? They checked the luggage of everyone by hand and and looked at all items, touched everything etc. The migration process was a nightmare. I had to wait 3 hours in a q and the officer didn't understand a single word of english. I endes up getting 10 days even though my flight back goes in 35 days. Look at the google reviews of the Cancun airport migration office. Its a horror movie. I was actually lucky. I wish someone would have warned me before. People like you made me have this terrible experience. HOW can you be so irresponsible and make such a guide??
I recommend checking the dates of the videos you are watching. The title clearly states this was my experience going through security in 2023. I also recommend booking with a travel agent. I let all my clients know exactly what to expect based on the current conditions. And if you want to make sure the customs and immigration officers only speak English - only go to countries where the official language is English.

You cannot travel via air to Cancun with a passport card from the United States. You have to have to passport book.

The amount you can stay depends on your passport. If you qualify to use the kiosk, you don't talk to anyone.

I recommend checking the dates of the videos you are watching. The title clearly states this was my experience going through security in 2023. I also recommend booking with a travel agent. I let all my clients know exactly what to expect based on the current conditions. And if you want to make sure the customs and immigration officers only speak English - only go to countries where the official language is English.
