    My Harbor freight Quick Hitch and I supose most other similar Chinese Hitches do not require the lower catches to be in the open condition because they are spring to open when the weight of the hitch pin comes down on them . I suggest first adjust the hitch to connect properly then disconnect and try not lifting the release handles to see if you can truly connect without leaving the tractor seat or having to reach back to release the locking catches. My sholders and neck do not function comfortably reaching back from a seated position and getting off of the tractor is not necessary.

    Hello Mallard, That quick hitch looks identicle to a Harbor Freight QH. There are couple of videos on the modification of the top hook as it doesn't stick out far enough to allow some impliments to hook up with binding on the bolt heads used to hold the hook on the QH..

    I just picked up a Harbor Freight QH which I think is the same. Around $80. After poking around Tractor Time with Tim's website I saw a top hook for sale that fixes that one complaint you mention. A friend of mine removed his top hook and welded a block to the back to extend it. I just spent the money. You can look up TOP HOOK FOR CAT 1 QUICK HITCH by SMA on Amazon and check it out for yourself should you ever run into "the problem". I'm going to do a video on it pretty soon. Really enjoying the channel and glad to see it growing.

    Hey there, how's she goin'? That was some deal on the Quick Hitch!!! Never saw one for that cheap, even in the States!!! I tried my splitter in the upright position and other than it making it easier to put the rounds on it, I was more comfortable with it in the horizontal position. Hope the hitch works out for ya and Happy New Year!!!

    These quick hitches defiantly need to be modified for a nice tight cat 1 fit but I also have modified several attachments to fit the hitch as well. All it takes is a welder and cut off wheel. The wood chipper was the worst but it still only took a couple of hours to make right after thinking about the setup first.

    • @Mallard5plus1Farmhouse
      @Mallard5plus1Farmhouse  5 лет назад

    Why is the opening so large compared to the peg size? The log splitter is a class 1 pin right? So why is the easy attachment bigger, shouldn’t it be a class 1 too? I seen other videos that have the same issues with the pin size.

      Me and my other RUclips tractor buddies were talking about this same thing the other day,and none of us could answer this question either. The only thing I have figured out since I made this video is that it's easier if you get rid of the bolts on your top hook and use pins instead. That way you can adjust the top hook easier.Thanks for watching David!

      The lower set of pins are larger to allow the locking mechanism to be more efficient. I have the same rural king cat 1 quick hitch and a little tip when hooking up different implements is to have your top link free so as you back into hook up you can get the right angle do to different styles of implements. Hope this might help a little.

    • @Mallard5plus1Farmhouse

    I have been thinking of one of those quick hitches. Glad it worked for the splitter. How does the locust burn in the stove? Is it an even burn and give off good heat?
