Up until this number, every performer at the Levine gala was just doing a typical stand-and-deliver bit. And then Malfitano and Croft came out and actually started _acting_. The change was electric. (So gracious of Malfitano to exit the stage for Croft's last few lines. A lesser performer would have just mugged her way to the end.)
I know Croft sang (and probably will sing when life returns to normal) literally hundreds of performances at the MET but he was judging by this performances somewhat underrated in the rest of the world and certainly be the recording companies. He is really superb here!
Maybe for you, but there are Pushkin, Dostoyevsky, Turgenev, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Rimsky-Korsakov, Mendeleyev, Stravinsky, Eisenstein, Peter the Great, and quite a few others.

I was in the 7th row orchestra center and this particular selection sounded amazing in the house. They both tore the roof off the place.
