This is a huge help for someone in illinois where all the rainbows are stocked in fall and spring
Fish em how you have them right👍? People hate on fishing the fish you have available and I say, find a passion and chase it🙌! Tight lines!
Just had stocked trout put into a local lake this morning. They didn’t show any interest in the other flys I presented except your pellet flies! Just wanted to drop you a line and say it’s a winner!
That's awesome! So glad you had fun and caught a few! That makes it all worth ot on my end! Please consider subscribing and Ill do my best to continue to bring some quality to you on my channel. This made my day. Tight lines! 🤙
I tie one similar to this, but use a few turns of wire to add some weight. I add just enough to have it sink just below the surface.
Great idea! One of my local fly shops sells a really simple brown weighted water boatman fly. The owner tells people they can say it's a water boatman if they like, but in reality it's just a pellet fly. It fills the stringer for sure!
Some folks fish for stockers often and dont have access to wild fish. I feel like they should be able to enjoy tying and casting to enjoyable fish too!
It is also a nice imitation for fishing carp afloat, in ponds, with a heavy grub!
Love it! Where do you fish?
Very good idea and tie thanks for sharing
i use brown thin foam and super glue. slayed over 100 stockiest on it yesterday.
Nice! Good idea 💡
Awesome videos and thanks! Give me somthing to tie while I'm waiting for the season to start.
Thanks for swinging in! Where arw you from?
@@TwigNTimberFishingOutdoors Nova Scotia Canada
@@rileywest1389 Ive always wanted to fish Nova Scotia! Beautiful area!
@@TwigNTimberFishingOutdoors yes, Nova Scotia has some amazing spots to fish and it's a really diverse and beautiful province. I just wish that they didjt postpone our fishing season until may 1st.
@@rileywest1389 safety first! I hope you and yours stay safe and healthy!
I use yellow egg patterns for that reason. It looks like a pellet. Good job.
Love it! Where are you from?
Northern VA
@@nickmakrides Nice! When does your season open up?
This is an option for natural purists. It works very well when tied with dyed deer hair in yellow, pink and orange too! If you tie streamers you probably have the colored deer hair. If you are a hunter, you could cut patches off a deer hide and dye them yourself.
Lovely suggestion!
What size hook are you useing or would recomend
thanks...nice fly
Hook size .... 14? 16? 18?
I’d say 14 for ease.
👍Thanks
Where are you from and where do you fish? I’d love to help!
@@TwigNTimberFishingOutdoors I live in CT, fish fresh and salt water in Rhode Island & CT, occasional trip to Idaho, want to add that I appreciate your content you post on RUclips, great learning tool for myself.
New to fly fishing here. should this fly float or sink? We mostly have stocked fish where I live.
Should float for the most part but can be sunk if waterlogged
What vise are you using?
Maxcatch Rotary. I also have used mongoose also
@@TwigNTimberFishingOutdoors How is the quality of the Maxcatch wise? Is the base heavy enough?
@@icedaft I still like mine. Still tying on it today. The base is solid but COUOD be heavier if you really wanted. Good enough to tie on though
