    Never been fly fishing or tied a fly in my life, but the passion, innovation, and skill is captivating. Such a cool artform; a dance between beauty and utility. Well done, and thank you for the video!

    Wonderful Tie……beautiful deerhair art! For a fishing fly, a tan head would be simple as that is what the fish will see from underneath the fly. Nice Job!

    Thank you so much Andreas, and ahrex for releasing this! I've probably watched your first dahlberg vid at least 50 times, watching and digesting your techniques. Adding the narration, has provided so much more. Thank you for sharing your wisdom!🙏🙏🙏

    Spectacular job! I have the worst time shaving the bottom without nicking the tying thread.

    What cool technique. I’m just getting into tying with deer hair/spinning. I probably won’t make this my first tie 😂, but soon enough I’ll be watching this video again and making a Dahlburg Diver. Simply amazing!

      Thanks ☺My guess is that Andreas didnt "nail" it the first time - or second either... but a thousand deer-hair flies later he gets it every time😉 He is a true magician behind the vise ☺ Happy tying 🙂

    Amazing 👏.... I'll have to add a handheld hoover to the toolkit before I try one of these!.... Andreas, what vice base are you using?

    • @ahrexhooks3652
      @ahrexhooks3652  Год назад

      Thanks and he is a true magician 🙂 He is using a Regal Revolution but with a costum base. But just seen Regal introduced a bigger and heavier base which is more stabile when tying flies and putting a lot of pressure on the tying 🙂

      I know he har worked hard to raech this level of tying for years... lots of practice, lots of good and bad flies and a lot of vaccuming of deerhair below his tyingtable (and the rest of the room). But he is a world class deer-hair tyer 🙂

    Wish there were links to buy everything along with the recipe. I would love to tie this. I just don't know the proper names of everything to look for everything to find them online.

    • @ahrexhooks3652

      Thanks for the respond. Tying a fly like this - and at this level, has made Andreas go through a lot of deer-hair for finding the perfect type of hair for his flies. But if you go through the tying description in the start of the video or in the video-description you should be fine 🙂

    Can you make these work with body hair if it flares well or do you always do belly hair? Thank you sir. Magnificent job.

    • @biggiesmalljaws
      @biggiesmalljaws 11 месяцев назад

      Belly hair is more buoyant than body hair and it’s naturally white so it dyes extremely well but yes you could use body hair such as a primo strip or hair designated as spinning hair as those have the hair density you’d be looking for, just know it won’t be as naturally buoyant. 👍

    FANTASTIC pattern….utterly consummate tie to say the LEAST !!!!! Not sure I wouldn’t put it in a frame as a personal tying treasure rather than fish it though (kidding….kind of 🤣) truly excellent technique, many thanks for this video. L 👍🎣👍

    • @ahrexhooks3652
      @ahrexhooks3652  Год назад

      Andreas uses several scissors, and a lot of razor-blades 🙂
      A long for cutting the hair from the hide like:

      And this special curved for trimming the collar:

    How does it swim?

    • @ahrexhooks3652
      @ahrexhooks3652  Год назад +1

      It swims very badly... splashing and popping water all over and attracing predators ;-) No you can retrive it slowly and just let it slide on the surface - but with more agressive retrieve the fly will dive a bit and pop the surface. It is also effectice to be fished on a sinking line. A really effective style of fly that can really trigger predators like bass, pike, muskies and big trouts - give it a try 🙂

    Lose the background Muzak.

    • @timmckennie4276
      @timmckennie4276 4 месяца назад

      Incredibly close. If you prefer “random noodling on steel guitar which makes it harder to concentrate on the fly tying”, you can go with that if you prefer it to “Muzak”
