WOW, I just discovered something pretty amazing about this 'puter' thing, it actually has a 'volume' switch, I can turn it up or down if I don't want to hear something, and I can fast forward a little if I don't want to watch something, as for me, I like the entire video, so I would never turn the volume up or down, or fast forward, maybe some would, keep up the good work, from AZ !!!

Good evening all! I’m chilling on the ‘patio’, which is really just a bit of concrete pad east of the smaller cabin. So we have a great expansive view of the valley to the east when the sun starts going behind the hill to the west. Shadows are lengthening, and the sky has come out from the overcast we had most of the day and we have blue sky and cotton ball clouds. It’s really awesome.
Again today I’ve used Mike’s back drag to ready loose gravel and soil to make the scoop easier. Thanks for teaching me something neither of us knew I needed! I’ve also run a chainsaw, hung a gate, back filled a retaining wall, put gravel in front of the west entrances to the shop, re-established a berm intended to divert runoff from running through the open part of the shed (where I put the gravel), and mowed the rest of the yard. The retaining wall backfill was work. I was ready to call it a day.
I have been impressed with the quality of your videos. Your fades into and out of music when you transition to time lapse are pretty slick. I’ve been impressed by how the cadence and mood match the content too. For what it’s worth, I’d much rather have your music on the time lapse instead of silence or Alvin Chipmunk-style compressed audio. So I vote keep on doing what you do. 😀

Keep on doing what you're doing and show more of Hunter. Regards. Bill

OCD or great pride in workmanship, it doesn't matter. Great stacking job Mike. I know we didn't see you stacking the wood in real time, but it didn't look like it took much extra time to do a good job. Leaving the gaps between rows and between boards will help the boards to dry evenly and faster. Thanks again for your videos.

Lowes - $25-50 per board depending on pressure treated, sanded, etc
Menards-(Local large Home Improvement store in the Midwest based in Wisconsin) $11-$25 depending on finish and type of wood i.e. Pine, Maple, Red Oak

As I watched you unpack and assemble the firewood bundled, you mentioned placing a knife of some sort in a small pocket built into the frame. Canvas tarps are nice... used them for years to temporarily cover inventory outdoors on rainy days. One thing we found though was that they needed to be sloped so water could not lay on the tarp otherwise the rain would soak through. Having an air space between the stored item and the tarp in addition to the slope was ideal... We had some thin wall tubing for that purpose.

It's real simple. The plate compactor is good on even surfaces. Some additional soil needed to be put on the side so the compactor wouldn't slide down the "hill" toward the concrete cistern. Melissa showed she has the real stuff when she shut it off each time before it hit it. She also was able to climb it back out of the gulley too. Love it. Gotta love a woman with grit. All the right stuff.

As far as your channel, the content and presentation, I have been watching ever since near the beginning and have seen it evolve and grow. I remember commenting and giving some "advice" to Melissa when she first started appearing. She seemed very shy and nervous at first. Fast-forward to today and you can tell that she's perfectly comfortable being in front of the camera.

What’s gotten you here is YOU. Not a focus group. So you keep on doin’ YOU!
MELISSA... I applaud your effort to even work the compactor. You’re an incredible woman.

Well Mike, all I can say is the worlds current teaching tells everyone they get to have an opinion about everything without ever doing the job. Great content as usual, keep your eyes on Him! God bless from Idaho.

Mike, I use old metal roofing to cover my drying stacks. The tarp blocks air on the sides even though most of the moisture escapes through the end grain.

Mike your videos entertain us all. If we were all alike GOD would not have anything to do. Glad you do what you do. Hope Tai liked his shovel l sent him. Maybe he can talk you into letting him clean the tracks on the excavator and play in the saw dust. Keep on keeping on for us. You are better than tv.

Mike, Do you have to put something on top to protect those PVC plugs in that cistern tank? And I for one like the music and if it's something I don't care for my computer came with a volume knob and when I see you talking I turn it back up. Problem solved!

I think your videos are a great mix of talking, equipment sounds and music, keep up the great work Mike. And it's really cool to see Melissa running the equipment, my wife seems to have conveniently forgotten that, as a teenager, she used to drive her dad's Ford 9n with a Woods mower to cut their lawn, LOL.

Knotty Pine S4S Board 1X8 10' $16.71 at HD in MA! I found Dot pretzels at HD and just bought a bag to try. Over $5.00 a bag so I hope they are as good as you say! 😲 I love your videos as they are with the music and commentary! Tell Melissa the compactor could be part of her exercise routine! 😂 Have a day, from MA!

    Mike,
Air dry a bit of lumber myself. All research leans toward keeping the air flowing. Believe the canvas tarp may hinder this. I use metal roofing weighted down with blocks. I imagine you could build a structure with roofing and weights that you could remove with forks when needing to add additional lumber.

You know more than I do when You do Your projects/videos and I always get plenty of Info for future projects
Plus You are investing way more cash to get Great Results than I can do right now
I had one job where they installed buried cable and after the laborers (Me) raked the soil back onto/into the trench the backhoe driver would drive on the trench to compact it better than a Plate compactor
That tractor is about as big as the backhoe we used and it had plenty of weight, and We would rake more dirt on top to allow it to settle
I bought one of those Harbor Freight Plate compactors to do some patio paver work and it ran great, but for the depth of the hole You have it might take several rain storms to to get it to settle that way
Your decision was right to NOT getting that hole with the Plate Compactor because the walls might cave in and trap who ever is in it
OSHA requires specific side wall SHORING for anything over 3 or 4 feet deep if people are going to be working in the excavated hole
Walls of collapsed dirt or sand will KILL anyone caught inside where their lungs will be compressed like a constricting snake KILLS
You can't dig fast enough to get them out safely
Hillsborough County Florida has Marxist Nazi democrats in POWER that have made it illegal to collect rain water
They are following Agenda-21 Plans and are control the use of Property owners Land
Look up I.C.L.E.I. for land use sustainability that is ran by the "United Nations", and they have declared International Soil ownership in Salt Lake City Utah
Search both on RUclips for an education
I think Your system is Great
    Thanks
    Ken in Florida

I hope you decide to go ahead and collect rainwater in the cistern. I have leaf guards on the gutters of my building and for about every half inch of rain I get approximately 400 gallons and it is all really clean. It's absolutely the best for washing vehicles and doesn't leave the first water spot etc. Hoping you give it some consideration!!

The plate compactor, being run under the constraints to avoid the cistern, yet pack the ditch, could be tricky. The uneven terrain made the job harder. But I thought the task was done sufficiently, if not technically perfectly. Job done.
