I Luv the this song "Can You Stand the Rain" By Boyz II Men, But, the one sang by Anoop D. was really awesome. He really brought the words and the tone down to another level. UNC Clef Hangers Rocks!
i just wanna say thanks to clefhangerfan for posting all these videos and answering all the questions that people have about clefs and anoop. :) especially with the new edition q since it seems like you have answered it 1 billion times and people act as if you dont know
aww he looks so different! and he's gotten so much more confident as a performer. he just keeps getting better! thanks so much clefhangerfan for all the awesommee videos! Anoop FTW!
OMG! This is an amazing performace. One of my favorites from him although I love all of his performances!! He has such a beautiful voice. I hope he gets signed....
It was his very FIRST major Clef concert - he was 17 years old here and a brand-new college freshman. But - he had been performing vocally in front of audiences much of his childhood, so he wasn't brand new to that. Still - it was probably a little unnerving to be stuck in the front of this 'famous' group of older guys, and you're right - the audience is shocked - so it was clearly a great decision by the Clefs...
True - New Edition did it first in 1989, but then Boyz II Men covered it on their Evolution album in 1997. The Clefs arrangement of the song is from the B2M version.
Amazing! These guys are really working hard together to deliver such smooth and rich harmony. Lead Vocals has powerful range and control. Keep it up guys you're very talented and well trained singers.
J Smooove I live in Philly and use to compete in talent shows against boyz II men, and yes you are absolutely correct. They won several talent shows singing this tune, and it is what got them discovered by Bivens. However, Gamble and Huff dabbled with them first.
Clefhangerfan:Anoop is also big here in malaysia!Pls.tell anoop that we are rooting for him...BIG TIME! Iskrew:People outside of U.S. can now also vote!Pls go to facebook and join the anoop desai group so the moderator can give you the instructions on how to vote. They found a way people! So let's help Anoop and vote, vote, vote!
Oh, yes, it's Anoop. Yes, he was younger - this was over 4 years ago in 2004. Yes, he's slender now - a year after this video he had lost weight and was wearing contacts vs. glasses. Check him out in my video from Spring 2006 - Be Without You, you'll see the transformation.
New Edition was first in 1989, but then Boz II Men covered it on their Evolution album in 1997. The Clefs arrangement is based on the Boyz II Men version.
Well, you're partially right - you just didn't do all your research. True - New Edition did it first in 1989, but then Boyz II Men covered it on their Evolution album in 1997. The Clefs arrangement of the song is from the B2M version.
You're half wrong - New Edition did it first in 1989, but then Boyz II Men covered it on their Evolution album in 1997. The Clefs arrangement of the song is from the B2M version.
Sorry - this is all I have, just Anoop's two solos. It's video from his dad with permission to post. Wish I had much more before Fall 2005, but this and "She Will Be Loved" are it.....
@BLESSEDB07 That's Anoop Desai, from Season 8 of American Idol - Top Six finisher! Check out his current music at w w w (dot)anoopdesai(dot) c o m! Also check out his later videos with the Clefs on my channel, like especially "The Only One For Me" (search 'clefs anoop only one' and you'll find it)
No, as it turns out - if you take your version from a particular artists take on the song, you should credit that artist. The Clefs arranged their version based on how B2M made it their own, so that's who got the credit. How many songs have been covered by tons of artists since the very first version of it - don't be so naive as to think only the original performer can get the credit. . Find something more important to flame out about.

And yes, It was New Edition to who this song was Originally produced for by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. Not Boys II Men.
ya but new edition never arranged an acapella version of the song. boyz ii men did, in fact it was this song that got them signed.
J Smooove I live in Philly and use to compete in talent shows against boyz II men, and yes you are absolutely correct. They won several talent shows singing this tune, and it is what got them discovered by Bivens. However, Gamble and Huff dabbled with them first.
This is amazing...they are really good...!

FYI: The original recording of "Can You Stand The Rain" was recorded by New Edition.
Nope - this is the only video I have, and the only year they performed it. But it is on their CD - Facing Clarence, available from the Clefs website.
Hold on. That front man Anoop Senai is sick! Does he record his own music? The kid got pipes!
New Edition was first in 1989, but then Boz II Men covered it on their Evolution album in 1997. The Clefs arrangement is based on the Boyz II Men version.
New Edition made the song, sang it originally...but Boyz II Men covered it in their album Evolution. Their rendition is amazing
Yes - that was also Brandon's first concert/first semester as a Clef - freshman year.
more Anoop pls??? thanks thanks thanks!
yall did the damn thing
it's a mix of the new edition version (live perfomance) and boyz to men version !!!

Much Props! Nice Harmony! Keep it up guys! ;)
Lmaoooo!!!!😂😂😂😂 The bass at 3:07!! He did that, haha that's what I was waiting for toward the end..😅
anOOp.you are too good to be true.

Aren't there other versions of this song?Ones that are more recent? This song's beautiful.
Well, you're partially right - you just didn't do all your research. True - New Edition did it first in 1989, but then Boyz II Men covered it on their Evolution album in 1997. The Clefs arrangement of the song is from the B2M version.

New Edition did it first, but then B2M covered at several years later and the Clefs arrangement is based on the B2M version.
Sorry - this is all I have, just Anoop's two solos. It's video from his dad with permission to post. Wish I had much more before Fall 2005, but this and "She Will Be Loved" are it.....
That was pretty good. He should have sung that on the show
Wow this dude Anoop has changed
Those Four Dislikes must cant stand the rain.
very comparable to both new edition and boyz II men versions..anoop has a beautiful voice
This is an awesome version of this song. Loves It. Anoop is amazing as usual.
Is that Chris Melly who does the really high part?
No - that's all Anoop. He was 17 years old in this vid - a brand new freshman at UNC and in the Clef Hangers for only a few months.
No, but he was 17 - about a month away from 18. He sang a cappella, very well I might add, all through high school.
Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis would love this. Lots of people due acapella renditions of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis produced songs.
sorry, i was wondering was he still peforming on American Idols. Well I grant he still make a album one day.
smoother than cake icing...
So, I guess I do know my music history. Have a nice day.
@clefhangerfan NO WHO IS IT?!?!?!?!
1:34 is my favorite just listen to that harmony...
Anoops riffs are on point! I just wish he would have been more original with his own riffs!
haters gonna hate
Pony Boy how's it hate???
I wish he could sing this on idol so people can rediscover this beautiful song. And I do prefer this version (of BIIM) than the original version.
New Edition would be proud
the TGI Fridays flair sucks, but the dudes can SING. Awesome job!!!!
haha! too funny - he looks so little and dorky! lol
love's it though =) - his voice is AMAZING
I feel like The Warblers were loosely based on the Clefhangers. Anoop FTW!
@BLESSEDB07 Yep! Thanks! Do you recognize who the lead singer is???
Yaaasss Black Bass Beta work!!!
And then Boyz II Men did a cover of it, and then the Clefhangers did a cover based on the Boyz II Men take on the song.......
the applebees Flair though lolol... bruhs can sanglol
Legit!
The actual artist who did this song is new edition.
Good
@BLESSEDB07 That's Anoop Desai, from Season 8 of American Idol - Top Six finisher! Check out his current music at w w w (dot)anoopdesai(dot) c o m! Also check out his later videos with the Clefs on my channel, like especially "The Only One For Me" (search 'clefs anoop only one' and you'll find it)

That kid is sick
He really kills Shawn’s part

Good cover but they didnt make it their own, boyz to men made a new edition song their own & i could sworn this was boys to men.

I have no idea that Anoop Desai used to be "fat".
BoysII Men don't sing this song. New Edition sings it.
